"I mostly use the Heavy Duty/Perm Press cycle on Normal and my wash is clean and done in a half hour. There are three timer positions within that cycle which effect how long the wash agitation lasts...Heavy, Normal, Light. On Heavy the wash agitation is around 15 minutes. Using that as a reference the complete cycle time (start to finish) on Heavy is around 37 minutes, Normal is around 31 minutes, Light is around 28 minutes....your times may vary depending on your water pressure and height of tub fill."
"Even when I rented, I had an the old-style agitator washing machine I dragged from apartment to apartment so when I went to buy a new one, I was a little bit unsure because the new HE styles always came with groans and complaints that clothes were never clean and that the machines felt cheap. He said he would be GLAD to sell me the new machine I had selected, but he just wanted to *show* me the Speed Queen. Being in a laundromat gave it a weird connotation, but honestly -- those machines are in absolutely CONSTANT use and this company is able to create a machine that can deal with it, and furthermore, make it their specialty since residential sales are clearly not their strength. I could not find a single place on the international interwebs that said they were a "bad buy". Most of the reviews on the newest designs the big guys were making were negative. That their electronic components were unreliable and often rendered the machine useless when they failed prematurely. It's going to cost you *more* than an entry level HE machine, which is enough to scare most people off. It looks like something you could buy on Craigslist for $50, why should you spend [enter list price here] on it? My friends and coworkers still whine about their HE machines giving out, breaking down, requiring replacement every 5 years. Their white socks look like they ditched shoes for a day and wandered a swamp. I've only had this machine for 6 months, but I know I won't be replacing it in 5 years. My appliance dealer, though, gave me *in writing* that everything is covered for 10 years... except the transmission. Yeah, this washing machine smells like America's heartland... because that's where it came from. I'm giving this Speed Queen a FIVE STAR review because it's unafraid to be unoriginal. It has ONE JOB, cleaning your clothes, your sheets, your curtains, your small areas rugs like it's 1990... and it actually freaking does it right the first time."
"SPEEDQUEEN 432. PROS: HOT' WATER: straight out of the tap and is not diluted by cold water as many new machines today. QUICK 'CYCLE: A Heavy duty hot water cycle is just 30 minutes. ADD' WATER 'FEATURE : Becaue the government has placed water restrictions on all washers the water does not go all the way up to the top. Water will not automatically let out after seven minutes as most new machines do. COMMERCIAL MACHINE: heavy duty commercial quality washer, same as the laundromats use. NO 'COMPUTER: No lid lock, no computer to malfunction, simple rotary dial. CLEAN 'CLOTHES: Gets clothes really clean, and if you have grass or dirt it washes right out of the machine unlike some new machines. It has no computer, no lid lock, no automatic release of water if you try to soak the clothes in the manner prescribed by SpeedQueen. No 2 -3 hour wash cycle with the hot water as in the new style machines. Regular hot water cycle is still only 30 minutes!! 'the Speed Queen is only machine on the market where you can still get hot water out of your tap without it being diluted with cold due to the new government regulations). Many machines get great reviews in Consumers Reports but then the actual reviewers out in the real world say the machines fail due to computer errors, or spins holes into their clothes, or in spite of all precautions their clothes smell like mold. There are many real world reviews that say the water temperature for a hot water wash was really 60 degrees in the winter. If you have allergies and need a hot water cycle then do lots of research and get a certifed NSF'allergen cycle. People sticking a thermometer in the water are getting 60 degrees for a hot water wash. Computer errors abound this year in the land of washers. At this point there are too many problems with the washers this year so I went with the Speed Queen as it has no computer, a hot wash in just 30 minutes and my clothes will not smell like mold. I still LOVE this machine."

"That cycle will get your clothing very clean, but it's overkill for most of my laundry needs. One is that as with any washer, clothes don't wear out as fast if they are inside mesh bags in the washer. You can select small, medium, or large load settings, but I always make sure I don't use a lower setting than what I have in the machine because clothes need room and they will get cleaner and not get worn out as fast if they are not jammed in there with not enough water. Because I want my machine to stay in the same place inside the bathroom closet, I plan on joining the two provided water intake hoses with a double male connector but haven't purchased it yet. When you work out the length you need, make sure you remember that the hose will need space behind the washer and extra length to come out and curve and is somewhat stiff. Sometimes when it's draining hot water from a load of sheets, I'll pick up the end and rinse the shower with hot water. Then, while the washer is draining, I just use that water as it's coming out of the drain hose to rinse off the bathroom cleaner or cleanser and kill germs with the hot water. Please note that I haven't taken the time to figure out all the cycles so I'm not quite sure if there are gentle cycles and extra cleaning cycles. The 10-minute works well for most things for us, and the 42-minute cycle really gets things clean but will wear out your clothes faster because it's vigorous and had 2 rinse cycles. One set of several was enough because the washer itself is smaller than a regular washer. Next to it, I have a dehumidifier that blows up on damp clothing that is hanging on a rod I put in my bathroom. I close my bathroom and let the dehumidifier suck the remaining water out of the clothes. If a fan, heater fan, or dehumidifier fan is blowing direction on the clothes (at least 2 feet away though for safety) and the clothing is separated by a couple of inches in between each item, they will get dry a lot faster. When it's warm outside, I close the bathroom the contain the heat and let it help dry the clothing faster. I can't complain about anything with this washer, but it would be nice to have a clearly marked gentle cycle and a choice of hose and and drain hose lengths when you buy it. It would also be nice if long things didn't get tangled, but I don't think that's an option for this size/price of washer. I would like to point out that the cheap, small bathroom vanity I have was usable for this, but the old overused faucet started leaking under the sink after a few loads in the washer. That's not the washer's fault as there was a previous leak under the sink with that old faucet, but the extra water pressure when the faucet is turned on but the washer is not filling will find any leaks and exacerbate them. I just screw off that piece and put on the adapter provided with the washer. I gave this item five stars even though I would like a clearly defined gentle cycle and a few more instructions about things I had to figure out myself like using mesh bags and getting a faucet that as a screw off end as well as using a dolly, I still love the machine and am grateful because I hate laundromats and my landlady was being difficult about my using the laundry room once a family member moved in. I'd like to point out for renters that if you use the 10-minute cycle, you're only using 2/3 the water as you would with the longer cycle. So, by mostly using cold water and using the short cycle when it's enough an making sure you use a smaller load size if you don't have much in the washer, you can minimize your utilities with this Energy Star washer."
"I had a Haier before and this is so much better."
"Machine is making an annoying squeaky noise throughout the wash, my return window ended Dec 1, hopefully the warranty can cover this strange noise all of sudden , two months later after purchase :( my video clip is short but thats the noise. UPDATE 1/28/18. So the noise stopped just as quick as it started. I washed a heavy duty long beach towel when I heard that squeak in the video. Im guessing the towel was too heavy so I definitely wash that particular towel alone on the Large wash cycle.."
"I have purchased Heir 1.0 cubic portable washing machine and used it about 4 times... but we couldn't keep it because of its lousy loud noises."
"I would recommend this washer to anyone who wants to stop spending a fortune at the laundromat and want the convenience of doing your laundry in your own, clean (not used by others) washer. The washer will wash bigger loads than the dryer can handle so I end up dividing each washed load into 2 halves and drying them separately. We are so glad we bought the washer and dryer; both are great."

Ecowash Portable Hand Cranked Manual Clothes Non-Electric Washing Machine by Avalon Bay, Counter Top Washer for Camping, Apartments, RV’s, or Delicates

"I believe it is useful for RV’ers, hand washables/dry clean items, and even for households without a washer that don’t want to spend their life at the Laundromat. Cleaning laundry, even at RV parks with full washer and dryer is a hassle. I did my first load with items from my trip: 2 pairs of pants, 3 shirts, all my underwear and a stained by cleaning up tomato juice wash cloth (see pictures). I didn’t expect the EcoWash to clean this washcloth very well as even my regular washer couldn’t do it very well with out bleach. The directions say to add a certain amount of teaspoons of detergent depending upon how much the load weighs. A few days later, I washed a couple of lightly stained ties and a sweater, which I would normally clean at the cleaners."
"This is a neat little compact totally manual washer, it does a great job on getting clothes clean especially if you do a bit of a presoak in warm water then refill add detergent and do main washing action."
"The suction cups at the bottom of the machine mean business- if you set this down in a tub or on a tiled surface you'll need to put some effort into getting it back up."
"I have been using it for three days now, several times per day trying to catch up on laundry since my washer broke. (I fill it with 2 quarts of water, put in laundry, crank for two minutes, lift into the tub, drain, fill with 2 quarts water again, lift out of tub, crank for 30 seconds, lift into tub, drain, wring out clothes and carry them wet to the dryer. I do this three times and get a dryer load that isn't too much smaller than a regular load of laundry."
"I love this little washer! My boys go dirt bike riding so it's great to be able to wash their dusty dirty clothes each night."

Best Clothes Dryers

Panda 2.65 cu.ft Compact Laundry Dryer, White
Perfect for small living spaces such as apartments, dorm, or condos. It comes out warm air, it's fine if leaving in the room in winter.
Reviews
"They only say how to mount the dryer to the wall (I guess that's an option), but they don't explain how the vent is supposed to work. It's a bit pricier than I would've liked, leading to the minus 1-star, but it's a good product that has met my needs and I'm glad I made the splurge."
"Clothes do take longer to dry being its half the power of a standard 220v dryer. But a longer dry time sure beats going to a laundromat or my building's gross laundry facility down in a dungeness setting in the basement. This dryer is perfect if you live in an apartment with no special venting or electric. I prefer this washer over any other portable washer because it replicates the old school agitator found in the middle of the washer which moves and thoroughly washes the clothes. Being Pandas controls are on the bottom which is perfect if mount on a wall or have a stand. But i dont have dryer stand kind of money so i improvised. Go to ikea and purchase the "Lack" side table it costs $9.99 and raises the dryer off the floor enough to comfortably get clothes out dryer and reach controls with out crawling on the floor."
"It takes a long time but i love my dryer it makes my house smell so good."
"I searched for quite a few dryers similar to this and they are at least 150 dollars more than this one, the Avaya dryer is very similar to this dryer and many of the reviews stated there was a loud screeching noise when they used their dryer, I have not had this problem with the Panda dryer when it is loaded properly, if you overload it, you will get a high pitched noise. The only downside to this review is i havent received my electric bill yet to determine how much this will cost me, but other reviews for the Avaya dryer said it didnt raise it too much, so we will see."

"But, the are large jeans and i didnt put the back wheels on so it was unstable. TIP: put all wheels on the bottom, make sure to tighten the connections and you shouldnt have any issues. I've only had to do an extra spin once for a load of towels and pants just so they would dry faster. I use fabric softener on the rinse cycle so my clothes dont dry stiff."
"Our apartment doesn't have the room, or the plumbing for a standard clothes washer, so we were delighted to find this compact little unit that could be rolled out when needed, and put back in the closet and out of the way when it's not. You just screw on a base plate, add the caster wheels, stick on the hose and tap connector, and you're ready to go! It has a plate in the bottom of the tub that twists and spins rather than a centre agitator like many machines, so it is much gentler on clothes. Recently I washed a puffy fuzzy bath mat with a rubber backing and found the machine did a great job. Tide Pods are super in this little machine, but liquid and powder cleaning agents also work well. It moved about an inch, and then beeped at me to open the machine and rebalance the load before continuing its cycle. Before buying this washer I looked at a twin tub portable version from another company. I wanted a machine I could put my clothes into and walk away, knowing it was doing all the washing, rinsing and spinning on its own. GREAT FOR YOUR OWN USE OR AS A GIFT TO A NEWLYWED COUPLE OR NEW MOM OR DAD. I highly recommend this portable washer, as it's good value for the price, and fits into our little apartment with ease. They also make good wedding and baby gifts to those like us who have limited space and/or can't hook up full-size appliances. We bought the Haier HLP140E 2-3/5-Cubic-Foot Compact Tumble Vented Dryer to go with this washer and love it too!"
"If you are like me that your kitchen and bathroom faucets are not available to install the provided attachment, you can tap from the shower head instead. 3/4" male to 1/2" female adapter. Amazon link: http://a.co/8vRAZ2K. I attached some pictures which is pretty self explanatory for the install."
"One secret to using this that I learned is to turn off the water after the wash water has all flowed in; that way, if you want to put in fabric softener, but you don't want to hang out over the machine, it will make a beeping sound when it needs more water for the rinse cycle and will not continue until you turn the water back on! Otherwise, you can time about 15 minutes for the wash cycle, keep the water on, and hope you don't get involved in anything more important."

"It's _different_ from regular washing/drying, you have to learn how to use it (takes maybe a week's worth of laundry to start figuring how to get the best out of it), and your circumstances may be different from mine and you might not love it, depending. If the clothes aren't coming out dry enough (as some reviewers claim), you're probably either packing the machine too full, or haven't figured out which setting makes them dry enough for you, or are thinking about the one heavy piece in a load of light stuff, or are expecting bone-dry. I chalk up the slight moisture to the better fabric care this washer/dryer provides - I think it's part of the reason my clothes are less wrinkled. Maybe if I lived in an area with very high humidity all the time, or had no air conditioning, this would be an issue, but it's not for me. Don't overfill (there's plenty of room in the drum, but you can't pack it tight and expect dry clothes at the end). 2. For me, the "long" times aren't considerably longer than a wash and a dry, and I don't have to handle wet clothes in-between. There's a lint filter in the wastewater line you have to empty about monthly, or when the machine tells you to. - Uses less electricity than my old top-loader and traditional dryer, but provides better fabric care, MUCH less hassle, MUCH more convenience. It's plenty big (capacity-wise), but you can't have two loads working, one in a washer and one in a dryer simultaneously. They stay on for 4 minutes, and I'd like 8, or at least the ability to turn 'em back on without powering the whole machine off-then-on while I'm unloading clothes. We put ours in a catch-tray - a plastic tray that's designed to help keep any leaking malfunctions from ruining your floor. A proper catch tray has a drain line attached (ours doesn't - lack of planning ahead). We also were able to get a "flat" catch tray online, that slides under the machine before you raise the sides and close the corners. Great purchase, and the difference in power usage will probably pay off the extra cost over just a few years. are looking at the "5:50" that comes up when you initiate a dry-only cycle, then not checking to see how long the machine actually runs. It's an adaptive cycle which reduces time by sensing the humidity of the interior of the drum. He arrived, took about 2 minutes to look at the machine, realized the problem, but didn't have the parts to fix it. I still am concerned that important parts might not be in stock when we need them; this repair provided a pain-free demonstration of that situation. ============ An update a little past 12 months in: After a little more than a year, the washer is still going great, and the love for it has not diminished here. For a post-installation install of pedestal, I recommend you get lifting straps (sold under many names; one that springs to mind is "forearm forklift") and a strong friend to lift, and another friend to position the pedestal under the machine. I cleaned the machine's tub out the best I could, and paid special attention to all the nooks and crannies around the door gasket (lots of pulp in there), and I ran a tub-clean cycle, while I shook envelope bits and paper pulp off of the couch cover over the deck in back of the house. I pulled the filter drain hose and tried to drain into a bucket, then pulled the filter, which turned into a little flood: recommend you have several buckets and a friend handy when handling this kind of problem. I chanced a load of laundry (grey to match the remaining pulp), and made it through fine. A number of loads later, the machine is still going strong, appears to have shaken off the envelope episode like a champ, and without a service call. I've been asked whether the machine makes the house more humid, and kind of fumbled for a response (generally, no, it doesn't). Here's a data point from an experiment: I borrowed a hygrometer (an Oasis musical instrument hygrometer, which helps musicians care for their wood instruments by measuring humidity and temperature and recording minimums and maximums - you can buy one on Amazon). After about five minutes of settling time in our kitchen (a good proxy for the rest of the house), no laundry run that day, humidity read 53%. I moved the unit into the laundry room/pantry (about 9.5' x 11', door open, also a freezer in the room) and let it settle there for a few minutes while I loaded the washer. I set a four hour delay and ran the laundry (mid-size load of jeans) overnight. I remain convinced that people who are having disastrous humidity or wet clothes problems are suffering from the reported installation issue where the drain pipe is too tall for the machine to effectively drain water. What I imagine happened is that there was a power-cut while we were gone, and Child Lock comes on as some kind of safety feature or something."
"Before purchasing, I knew this appliance would take longer than a traditional dryer, but 5 hours was ridiculous. As many other reviews have noted, the drain’s position relative to the appliance is critical. This machine uses cold water to dry the clothes – essentially cool tap water chills some pipes that act as a condenser to capture humidity from the hot air circulating through the clothing (like a dehumidifier). For some reason the pump is unable to move the water vertically to a wall drain (about 3 1/2ft above the floor) during dry cycle. Instead of pumping up into the wall, the water probably backflows into the machine and keeps the clothes wet, increasing humidity and lengthening dry time. For other loads, we put the drain hose into a 5 gallon bucket on the floor."
"I've read the reviews about how long it takes and how clothes don't come out dry and discovered that these are not issues with the washer as much as issues with owners not using it properly. On the time issue the machine weighs your loads and adjust the time to wash and dry based on that so if you overstuff the washer the time increases."
