Over the years I have cut and/or hammered off a number of "chrome finished" receiver locks after they have rusted themselves to the pin hole and become a crusty eyesore. While chrome resists corrosion to some limited extent, the position of the lock, behind the rear axle, means it may constantly get hit with a highly oxidative bath of saturated salt solution, abrasive debris and water."
