Best Engine Exhaust Tools

GearWrench 2031DD Exhaust and Tailpipe Cutter
It has fifteen (15) blades that effectively cut pipe, so only a 1/4 inch rotation is needed for a complete cut. Use tool to cut pipes 3/4-Inch to 3-Inch in diameter.
Reviews
"I tried this on my 2" diameter muffler pipe, and found that it couldn't even "catch" on the closest cutting blade (i.e., ideally, you open the wrench, then close it on the closest cutting blade (i.e., each blade has a "pin" which "mounts" on the wrench)). Once the wrench clamps down on the pipe, it "bites" right into and through the stainless steel pipe like butter (even though it says it won't work on stainless steel!"
"I had to use a vice-grip and clamped it on the handle to get it to cut the pipe."
"At first it bothered me to buy tools from a non-USA tool company, but I'll admit these things rock."
"Perfect cut for my X pipe install on c5 convertible, remember let the tool do the work, don’t squeeze it like a gorilla and u witll get a perfect cut."
"Just wrap the chain around the pipe and attach it to the lug on the handles."
"I DIDN'T THINK I WOULD HAVE USED THIS MUCH AFTER I DID A CUSTOM EXHAUST FOR MY 1 YEAR OLD NEW DODGE TRUCK, BUT HAVE USE THIS SOME OF MY SON'S VEHICLES AND THEIR FRIENDS VEHICLES."
"I wasn't expecting this thing to cut my 3 inch exhaust as fast and cleanly as it did."
"Tried using it to cut new exhaust in my garage."

Best Engine Valve Train Tools

OTC 4572 Large Valve Spring Compressor
Jaw opening of 1-3/8 inch to 5-5/8 inch (35mm to 142mm) and throat clearance of 5-7/8 inch (150mm). Includes two valve spring adapters, which fit valve spring retainers up to 1" (25mm) and 1-3/16" (30mm).
Reviews
"This reduces the tendency of the tool to move side to side and out of alignment with the valve spring being depressed. The compressor should be adjusted to depress the valve spring only enough to remove or install the keepers, attempting to depress the valve spring further will cause problems and the tool may not lock in the depressed position as it is supposed to."
"Because of the OHC configuration of the head, you need a valve spring compressor that can go deep from both ends - This compressor is perfect for it. Don't forget to loosen up the valve stem retainer by somehow stopping the valve from opening with something that won't damage it (like a piece of wood or the like) putting a socket a little less than the diameter of the valve spring retainer over the spring and give it some light taps with a hammer - don't go bananas on it, just a few taps to get it loose before trying to use the compressor on it. I can't imagine bending it as long as you make sure to loosen up the spring retainers before you use the compressor on it."
"This item is quite affordable and QUICKLY compresses the valve springs to allow you access to the little keepers."
"I believe this tools would do a great job on lighter springs (after all, the video I watched on YouTube featured a pregnant woman using it with ease), but if you have a heavier-spring application, possibly look to the LMS Racing spring compressor also on Summit Racing's website (it is much more expensive, but it's definitely built for the heavier springs -- doesn't include a lever, just the screw to compress the spring -- If only the screw on this OTC unit were of the quality and size of the LMS with a coated surface on the part contacting the valve."

Reviews
"I hesitate to call this product a code reader--it is a truly professional diagnostic scanner that can not only read generic OBDII codes, but also proprietary codes from at least 42 different vehicle manufacturers. Choosing OBDII will bring up the generic code reader for any vehicle. Going back to the Diagnose menu, if you click on OBDII, the scanner will attempt to communicate with the engine computer using every known protocol. Once connected, a menu will allow you to choose to review codes, review live data in the datastream, review freeze frame data, and upload data to a computer or printer. About the Record Mode, if you have saved data that you want to transfer to your computer, you would connect the scanner to your computer and run the Launch Update Tool again."
"I have tried both reading error codes and clear them on the ABS system of my car, and reset the oil service light on other car in my family."
"Honestly, I think this small and easy-to-carry code reader is just an obd2 scanner doing the obd things, I mean the basically reading and clearing codes or emission test, though I know it has the reset functions and system diagnoses, which I didn’t use a lot. I drove my Ford Escape 2009 to a party and after a downhill path I felt something wrong about my car, it didn’t answer me as quickly as before, to be exact, I thought it was the brake that didn’t answer me."
"I bought it in the hopes that it would read the SRS code on a '04 Kia Sedona."
"I knew exactly the problem and took my car to garage and them used this tool to clear the code. This code reader was also helpful to view freeze frame data, so I could figure out the root cause of car problems in advance, without being cheated by car shops."

Best Engine Flywheel & Pulley Tools

OTC 6613 Variable Pin Spanner Wrench
The OTC variable pin spanner wrench is universal in design and fits many different types of pulleys having slots or holes, including camshaft pulleys and crankshaft pulleys. Universal in design and fits many different types of pulleys having slots or holes.
Reviews
"I used red thread locking compound on the nut to keep it from being lost, tightening it enough and locking it in place just tight enough to hold it in place, but still allowing the moveable to be swung with a light force."
"Although this tool is labeled as a "Toyota" tool, I purchased it over OTC's universal spanner wrench, as reviews suggested that the steel of this tool might be better quality."
"Adding a 1/2-inch ratchet to lengthen this tool to hold the cam gear more or less still, I loosened the cam-gear bolt with a 1/2-inch breaker bar plus a pipe extension (the removable top half of my jack handle served that purpose) plus significant effort."
"It includes adapters to work with a variety of pulleys, whether they have a bolt hole or not, and the ability to add extra leverage with a 1/2" drive breaker bar is very welcome."
"Normally you can blast off crank bolts with the impact wrench but torquing it back is much harder without moving it."
"A better value than the single use Lisle fan wrench(also good but limited by set pins), just have to watch it in high torque situations."
"pins are very sturdy and solidly made."
"Great quality tool."
