I've been trying to figure out a way to install some mating clips on the posts on the left/right sides of the windshield (inside the passenger compartment) so the cover can be fastened without the ordeal mentioned above."

Find Best Price at Amazon"It lacks a fair amount of paint protection on the inner surface, however it does have some--or at least enough that I don't necessarily mind using the cover. We will see how much dust this lets through as my CA cover would leave an ultra-fine silt when the car would sit for weeks. The fit on my Nissan 350Z is a bit loose (see photos) and there is no way it will stay on in the wind without a bungee or something to secure it. Hook the bungee to the car on the other side and come back around to retrieve the loose end with the attached string. Also, my home is situated in an area that for most seasons but summer sees a lot of moisture in the air that condenses on the horizontal surfaces of the vehicle and cover. I ride a motorcycle primarily so my car stays covered 90% of the year, however I do remove it for rain due to the collection of silt on the paint."
