The Disney Princess Cookbook
From Rapunzel's Frying Pan Eggs to Ariel's Sea Turtle Cupcakes, this beautiful cookbook is filled with delicious recipes inspired by the Princesses' many adventures.
Reviews
"I couldn't stand Disney's extreme "makeovers" on all the princesses, where they glammed them up by not only giving them more makeup and fancier hair and clothes, but also changed their bodies and faces, making them taller, skinnier, paler, older and vapid. But in this book, the princesses look just like they did in the movies, very cute, more "real" (as real as a cartoon can get) and down-to-earth, with some personality."
"Book came nicely packaged."
"My daughter is three and loves to “cook” with me. Every recipe has a photo (I wish every cookbook was like that!). and a lovely drawing of the princess cooking it."
"Finally, being Disney fans, we love the artwork and my daughter always relates to the recipes and the characters who made them."
"Being involved in preparing meals is important and you have an opportunity to teach them math skills in a fun way."
"I love that they make the food pretty to eat, shaped like flowers in one."
"I really wanted a cook book to start with my daughter a few things here or there."
"This had recipes so cute and easy that I almost kept it for myself instead of gifting it to my kid sister."

Counting on Community
Counting on Community is Innosanto Nagara's follow-up to his hit ABC book, A is for Activist . Besides being a fun, rhythmic, and lively text to read, the book's illustrations present a world of diversity and complex, inclusive beauty. We should shower our children, schools, libraries, and our communities with books like this one." "Counting on Community is a meaningful introduction to early readers about our innate power to contribute to our home, neighborhood and the world." Not only is Counting on Community an endearing and beautifully illustrated book, it represents the best hopes and dreams for our communities."
Reviews
"Not all the pages have the number clearly printed in a predictable way for children to recognize - something I initially overlooked when I received it because it seems challenging to hunt down the message on each page and probably useful for them to recognize the many different forms that numbers come in. The number two page references "neighbor friends" but there are 6 people on the page (all mostly in groups of two, all of them potentially "neighbor friends"). The number 5 page has 5 chunks of chalk clearly piled right in the foreground of the picture, under the text. The number 7 page is the most confusing of all. I also think it's worth noting that if there are x number of bikes and scooters "to share" there should be that number of helmets as well but I'm more concerned with the fact that there's not a total of 7 things on the number 7 page. Overall, I give the book 4 stars because I value the art and the conversation-with-child aspect of evaluating what is on each page but I feel like as a fundamental numbers book, it is lacking in clarity and consistency and I just couldn't give it 5 stars."

"The back of the book has a great resource to help you plan a week of experiments/activities, printables, and a list of where to find additional project extensions on the web to further an experiment or idea. There are a few things you have to purchase for some of the experiments, like thermochromic pigment for the color changing play doh (I found it here on Amazon for about $18) and 3 volt coin batteries and copper taping."

Best Children's City Life Books

Little Blue Truck Leads the Way board book
Everywhere Blue looks, he sees buses, police cars, taxis, vans, a street sweeper, and even the mayor’s limousine. Brimming with bright colors, sounds, and city energy, this adventure makes working together and taking turns more fun than ever.
Reviews
"We love the original Little Blue Truck book so we were excited to try this one."
"It tries to teach a good lesson, similar to the first book."
"The illustrations are first-rate, with a lot of detail to explore, including several different kinds of vehicles and stores and tall buildings, and many different kinds of people on the street. The storyline is about a tangle of fast-moving traffic as Little Blue Truck comes into town with a load of lettuce to sell, and the mayor's limousine breaking down in the middle of it."
"The illustrations are just kinda difficult to really fully see on some pages, as the scene was split onto different pages with some car being split into both."
"This is my son's favorite story from his favorite series."
"My son loves this book."
"He asks questions about the expressions on the cars faces and likes to point things out on the pages."
"My 4 yr old grand son LOVES this book....he has the first book "The little blue truck" already, and was so happy with the second one."
