"But, I do keep abreast of "things", and this book is essential reading for me."
"Great answered my questions and more!"
"Answers all my questions."
"I enjoyed reading the previous editions, learning a lot from David Pogue’s lucid expository style laced with humor. Really the better question is what isn’t the iPhone?” Listing its multiple features, he concludes “calling it a phone is practically an insult.” (pages 1- 3). A single light out wipe on your clothes restores the screen to its right-out-of-the-box crystal sheen” (pages 22-23). “The iPhone’s onscreen buttons are nice and big, giving your fleshy fingertips a fat target. “Making the Keyboard Work: Some people have no problem tapping those virtual keys; others struggle for days. “The fourth button, Custom, lets you type or dictate a new message on the spot. ‘I’m in a meeting and frankly, your call isn’t worth getting fired for’ comes to mind” (page 128). Siri it turns out, is a Norwegian word meaning ‘beautiful woman who leads you to victory’,” (page 146). Each book features a handcrafted index; cross-references to specific page numbers, not just ‘see Chapter 14’; and an ironclad promise never to put an apostrophe in the possessive pronouns ‘its’.” As a professional editor/writer, I admire this promise because far too many recent books commit this particular error. Large Type, Kid Mode & Accessibility. Part Two: Pix, Flix & Apps. 8. Settings. Part Five: Appendixes. A. Signup & Setup. B. Troubleshooting & Maintenance. A five-star book. 24 of 25 people found the following review helpful. 5.0 out of 5 stars iPhone 6: A BRILLIANT, LUCID MANUAL LACED with WIT, January 6, 2016. This review is from: iPhone: The Missing Manual (Paperback). I enjoyed reading the earlier editions of this comprehensive book, learning a lot from David Pogue’s lucid expository style laced with humor. iPhone 6: The Missing Manual, 9th edition, is an apt subtitle of this comprehensive book – it covers all models with iOS 9 software, including the latest 6s and 6s Plus."
"My ownly problem with this book is that it is printed in pale gray and difficult to read."
"Just too much detail, Not user friendly."
"I am sorry i did not buy it on Kindle instead of paper back. It is truly difficult reading... the pages are not wide enough to stay open."

"So, given the chance to read this book and find out even more ways my IPhone can make life easier, I jumped at it. The book covered everything about the phone and then some. I have had my IPhone for over a year I found lots of features in the book I never even imagined were on the phone. The best feature the phone has for me, and the book made it super easy to set up, was “face time.” You can call that special someone that who also has an IPhone and actually look at his or her face (or whatever the phone is pointing at) while having a conversation. If you have an IPhone, get the book – you will be glad you did."
"Wow I love this book, it covers all the aspects of the iPhone 4S (and prior models), not just the software."
"I have just had this book in possession for half an hour and am going to cancel a class I signed up for to learn about this iPhone 5S."
"Whether you enjoy learning about the features of your new iDevice or you've got a parent or grandparent that struggling to use the iPhone this book would be more than adequate. *******. UPDATE: COMPARATIVE RANKINGS. I never intended to read enough iPhone 5 "manuals" to truly compare them. Overall Comprehensiveness: 1) The Missing Manual (iPhone: The Missing Manual) - Covers from the tech in the phone to multiple ways to do almost everything. 2) My iPhone (My iPhone (Covers iPhone 4, 4S and 5 running iOS 6) (6th Edition)) - Maybe a touch less tech coverage than The Missing Manual, but not by much. 3) iPhone 5 for Dummies (iPhone 5 For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech)))- A reasonably comprehensive guide that doesn't bog down in tech detail and covers fewer ways to do things than the missing manual. 4) Teach Yourself Visually (Teach Yourself VISUALLY iPhone 5 (Teach Yourself VISUALLY (Tech))) - just a how-to usually one method per function. 5*) iPhone 5 for Dummies for Seniors (iPhone 5 For Seniors For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech))) - A moderately distilled version of the dummies book with more focus on "senior specific" topics. (*I thought this should be singled out for its special topics of interest which my override total comprehensiveness for some buyers). Readability and Narrative: 1) The Missing Manual - Reads well and the author has a bit of a sense of humor. The lack of walk throughs actually tends to make reading flow more naturally. 2) My iPhone - The narrative in this book made it accessible and helped disperse any nervousness you might have about learning a new tech device. 2) iPhone 5 for Dummies - A readable book, but certainly not my favorite read and probably not something I'd read for fun (even if I am a bit of a tech geek). 4) iPhone 5 for Dummies for Seniors - Big text make this book "readable," but I wasn't engaged with the narrative. 5) Teach Yourself Visually - This book is walk throughs its not for light reading. Walk throughs and step-by-step instructions: 1) Teach Yourself Visually - Tons of brilliantly detailed instructions with pictures that point out exactly where to press. 2) My iPhone - Nice guides offset from the narrative in distinctive blue boxes with helpful pictures. 3) iPhone 5 for Dummies for Seniors - More guided instructions than the regular Dummies iPhone book, but not close to the Teach Yourself Visually book that I would recommend to my parents in terms of quantity or quality. 4) iPhone 5 for Dummies. 5) The Missing Manual - Step by step, button-by-button guides are not emphasized."
"I grew tired of driving over to my Verizon store, and standing there like an idiot to ask yet another question."

"I now understand absolute vs. relative references! Understand this is an INTRO book."
"Well written but you need something a little simpler if you're a noob."
"Excellent!"
"This book explains VBA/Macros very simply, and is a definitely worth having as a reference!"
"This book strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and usefulness."
"Excellent for those new to VBA!"
"Starting around Chap 7, Mr. Walkenbach starts giving a lot of examples of code that is setting dimensions; static counters, offsets; cells vs ranges, etc, but he doesn't complete those examples with the actually code that would run some macro after the previously defined dimensions. I recommend this book as a good starting place for someone like me who has some experience using the Macro Record tool in Excel."

"For example, tonality is one of the key steps in post processing images and the author provides enough detail so that you will not only be able to follow his instructions for dealing with the sample images, but also to understand how the process works. For long-time users of Lightroom, there are a few new functions, and Lightroom is so user friendly that the operation of some of the new functions, like panoramas and HDR, will be intuitive and not require explanation, so that those long-time users might think they don't need this kind of introduction. Experienced users may also find something they didn't know in this book."
"Here's the summary if you're in a hurry: Pros: -Easy to read but very good and detailed information. -Well laid out and organized. -Word searching in the digital version makes finding things a breeze. -A full photo shoot (for the cover of the book) is laid out and described, including the Photoshop editing. It is laid out in the order of things you would encounter if you were a first time user new to the program and to organizing your images. It works for me and I would especially recommend his books to beginners as they have a lot of information in small chunks. The beginning is dedicated to good organizational practices which I partially followed from the last edition. I used to be very casual about my hard drives and use them for a lot of stuff and lost pictures several times. There are a LOT of small tips, which makes reading through the book worthwhile even for those who have used Lightroom before. I found this book full of good ideas and techniques easily explained."
"Lightroom is primarily for professionals who make a lot of photos per day like the author Scott Kelby."
"Very good book for someone who switched from another program to Lightroom 6."
"I cannot find any reference for Window diagrams and this is disappointing as the little blue pull down boxes shown throughout Chapter One do not exist on Windows LR and this would be too confusing to my students."
