Interview with the Vampire
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of its publication We are in a small room with the vampire, face to face, as he speaks--as he pours out the hypnotic, shocking, moving, and erotically charged confessions of his first two hundred years as one of the living dead. carrying us back to the night when he departed human existence as heir--young, romantic, cultivated--to a great Louisiana plantation, and was inducted by the radiant and sinister Lestat into the other, the "endless," life . to the years when, moving away from his final human ties under the tutelage of the hated yet necessary Lestat, he gradually embraces the habits, hungers, feelings of vampirism: the detachment, the hardened will, the "superior" sensual pleasures. He carries us back to the crucial moment in a dark New Orleans street when he finds the exquisite lost young child Claudia, wanting not to hurt but to comfort her, struggling against the last residue of human feeling within him . We see how Claudia in turn is made a vampire--all her passion and intelligence trapped forever in the body of a small child--and how they arrive at their passionate and dangerous alliance, their French Quarter life of opulence: delicate Grecian statues, Chinese vases, crystal chandeliers, a butler, a maid, a stone nymph in the hidden garden court . We see them joined against the envious, dangerous Lestat, embarking on a perilous search across Europe for others like themselves, desperate to discover the world they belong to, the ways of survival, to know what they are and why, where they came from, what their future can be . In its unceasing flow of spellbinding storytelling, of danger and flight, of loyalty and treachery, Interview with the Vampire bears witness of a literary imagination of the first order. Her other books include the Mayfair Witches series, the novels The Mummy or Ramses the Damned , Violin , Angel Time , the Sleeping Beauty trilogy, and, most recently, the Wolf Gift Chronicles series.
Reviews
"You just can't beat Anne Rice's vampire books, they are well written with fully developed characters who draw you into their world so completely it's amazing."
"From what i read, the next book is a must read as well, because it tells you what Lestat didn't get to tell in the first book, you understand him much more and he gets the chance to tell his side of the story!"
"I was a much younger girl when I fell in love with Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas in the movie version of "Interview with the Vampire" but for some reason I never took the time to read the book. I loved the character development, and the entire creepy sequence with the crazy vampire in Europe. I could see in the film version that she had an understanding of her perpetual youth, but in the book it is much more clear that she is in fact a wizened woman trapped in the body of a small child. I did not like the movie version of "Queen of the Damned" but I am curious to read the next two books in the series to get a better look at Lestat's background."
"The writing is great-environments fully realized, dialogue for the most part is good, and the characters were all intriguing to say the least."
"He has impressive ways to prove it and spends the night to give the young boy the story of his life, death and undeath."
"Have read all of Ann Rice vampi8re series and a few of the other.. On this my third read I rated 4 stars since I noticed a few instances that didn't meet the mark. Don't think I will read again, however it doesn't mean I like it less."
"Soooo well written but I lost interest when Claudia and Louis started to hang out with other vampires."
"By the time I finished a page of exposition I'd already forgotten what the characters were supposed to be doing."

Prince Lestat: The Vampire Chronicles
Rice once again summons up the irresistible spirit-world of the oldest and most powerful forces of the night, invisible beings unleashed on an unsuspecting world able to take blood from humans, in a long-awaited return to the extraordinary world of the Vampire Chronicles and the uniquely seductive Queen of the Damned ("mesmerizing" -- San Francisco Chronicle ), a long-awaited novel that picks up where The Vampire Lestat ("brilliant…its undead characters are utterly alive" -- New York Times ) left off more than a quarter of a century ago to create an extraordinary new world of spirits and forces--the characters, legend, and lore of all the Vampire Chronicles. [ Prince Lestat ] infuses new life into the Vampire Chronicles and sets the stage for a new era. she has not lost any of her flair for description, allowing us to experience the world the way her vampires do, with the sensory volume turned up to 11 . Prince Lestat is saving the undead from banality and overfamiliarity.”. -Daniel D’Addario, Time “Chilling.”. - Us Magazine “Anne Rice reminds us just how immense and rich with history her universe of poetic, morally questioning vampires is, and Prince Lestat serves as a palate cleanser to the hormone-soaked teen dramas of the past few years. It’s nice to have a real grown-up back in the game.”. -Cotton Codinha, Elle “Ambitious...Rice never lost touch with the exuberant, often witty, and always fearless voice of irrepressible vampire Lestat de Lioncourt... Rice has offered us a tale of tremendous ambition, and she’s absolutely delivered.”. -Matthew Jackson, BookPage.
Reviews
"Anne's love for her vampire family shines in this book; while I found the ending telegraphed throughout (in other words, it was easy to predict this book's outcome) she threw in a number of entertaining twists that were quite engaging to read."
"Wow; just wow."
"Rice writes like a beautiful dream and this is fast paced splendid reading."
"I missed several of the individual character books, but found this while waiting in line to vote in 2016."
"Although it's great to revisit favorite characters be prepared to plod through numerous story lines and endless references to computers, iphones and even a vampire paparazzi... Anne Rice is at her best when writing historical fiction focused on a small cast of characters."
"This book is told a bit different, but for a very good reason."
"This book is filled with poignant, deep writing - I would venture to say it is the best book I've ever read and I thank Anne Rice for this masterpiece."
"If you are a fan of the Vampire Chronicles, read this book so you will know what I am talking about."

Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal (Spanish Edition)
THIS EDITION IS INTENDED FOR USE IN SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES ONLY.
Reviews
"SPECIAL NOTE: For U.S. customers purchasing the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, you will notice the text has NOT been converted to the "Americanized" version of the original U.S. releases (with the exception of changing all "Philosopher's Stone" mentions to "Sorcerer's Stone"). Good or bad is naturally for each reader to decide--just know, if you plan to read the books while listening to Jim Dale's audiobooks, you'll notice a few superficial differences. The quality of this new illustrated edition is phenomenal. All chapter intros are illustrated."
"IMPORTANT: For U.S. customers purchasing the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, you will notice the text has NOT been converted to the "Americanized" version of the original U.S. releases. This difference isn't as prominent or noticeable as it was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, but still something to keep in mind. Also, to answer a question that has come up quite a bit, this is the FULL BOOK and not an abridged or shortened version. Underneath the book jacket, the novel is bound in a sturdy orange hardback with green lettering on the spine."
"I was ravenous to get my hands on my copy as soon as it was delivered this morning, but was quickly disappointed. But when I took a close look at my dust jacket, I was extremely upset to find that the gold foil lettering for "Harry Potter" had been rubbed away and destroyed completely in some places leaving ugly, black matte in its place-- pock marking the otherwise handsome gold lettering. Needless to say I'm in awe how Bloomsbury has managed to put together such an incredible project, with JK Rowling's remarkable literature and Jim Kay's otherworldly illustrations-- and allowed it to be put together in a low quality binding! Not all alone in a box... Update (October 9th): I have finally received my new book and it was in much, much better condition. The cover and spine were tight, intact and falling apart from the binding like my original copy."
