Profit First: Transform Your Business from a Cash-Eating Monster to a Money-Making Machine
Just as the most effective weight loss strategy is to limit portions by using smaller plates, Michalowicz shows that by taking profit first and apportioning only what remains for expenses, entrepreneurs will transform their businesses from cash-eating monsters to profitable cash cows. Following 4 simple principles can simplify accounting and make it easier to manage a profitable business by looking at bank account balances. Apply the pay-yourself-first principle to your business and watch the profits roll in.”. —CHRIS GUILLEBEAU, author of Born for This and The $100 Startup " Profit First is a game-changer. —MICHAEL PORT, author of Steal the Show " Profit First completely transformed how I handle business banking. This book has the potential to change the next 20 years of your small business life.”. —DAWN FOTOPULOS, Associate Professor of Business, The King’s College NYC; author of Accounting for the Numberphobic “ Profit First is a revelation. Profit First makes the process so radically simple that you no longer have an excuse not to be profitable AND have cash flow!”. —GREG CRABTREE, author of Simple Numbers, Straight Talk, Big Profits. “Not only is Mike one of the most innovative small business authors of our time, his Profit First system—simple to apply and impactful in its results—can be the difference between constantly walking the financial tightrope or being predictably profitable. "Why are so few businesses actually profitable for their owners?
Reviews
"This book is a must read for anyone interested in starting a business or is already a business owner. Business Owners: For years, us accountants have been trying to teach our clients the business owners to run their business using the data in their accounting software and for years business owners have failed to thrive and simply manage sale to sale and payroll to payroll. I have personally witnessed these same business owners implement the stupidly simple strategy this book teaches and completely change the trajectory of their business and their financial position."
"That's right, in the time it takes me to write this review, thanks to the actionable guidance of this book, my business will have gone from mishy-moshy, wishy-washy, kinda-breaking-even to having an actual, hard, bottom-line PROFIT. I am so glad I found this book at the beginning of year two of my business because, otherwise, I was looking at this year as "bleed every last drop of cash into the business to grow, grow, grow, then trim next year and hope for profits" model."
"With the profit first system, you will start taking your profit out first, and if you are not making a profit, your business will start asking you to address the problem."
"This book has truly shifted my thinking in how I run my business."
"Many great examples and explanations on why we as business owners MUST starting taking care of ourselves - paying out for our hard labors - and the system behind it all."
"I am excited to get back home and put the accounts in place and begin the Profit First Journey."

Crush It! Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion
Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion , Gary Vaynerchuk shows you how to use the power of the Internet to turn your real interests into real businesses. By the end of this book, readers will have learned how to harness the power of the Internet to make their entrepreneurial dreams come true. Despite this change, most people keep working at jobs that don’t make them happy and businesses continue to ignore the major marketing and public relations benefits that can be found online. This is the equivalent of claiming twenty years ago that just because your business bought a TV spot and a few ads in the newspaper, you didn’t need to pay attention to your advertising department. Crush It will show you how to utilize high level and platform specific social media and marketing strategies that will improve your work. It will also show you how to build a personal brand so that even if you’re forced to leave your job, a situation that’s especially relevant today, you’ll be able to easily find employment elsewhere in a field you’re passionate about. While you may have to fall behind on the current season of Lost or let your Madden 2010 game suffer, because you’ll be doing something you love you won’t mind putting in the extra effort. He also delivers both high-level and platform specific strategy and analysis, allowing you to take advantage of the current business environment while preparing you to succeed as it changes and evolves. By combining practical analysis and strategy with the same passion and humor that’s made Gary one of the most in demand keynote speakers in the U.S. as well as network television’s go to wine expert, Crush It is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand and harness the future of business and work.

"Being 2015 and his more detailed approach in Jab Jab Jab Right Hook, those who aren't "hip" to social media further than the tradition status update might be turned off with his early instructions on how to properly use a social media network."
"Easy to read - I didn't realize book was from 2008 2009 era which makes it dated when the subject is online activity but worth reading to get into Gary V's head - Will definitely ready Ask Gary V in near future."
"Another instant classic by Gary Vee."
"This is a really great book."
"Without getting overly philosophical, Gary Vaynerchuk gives the reader a clear overview of his rise to stardom thorough his branded use of social media."
"Gary V presents real world lessons and best practices for an ever evolving social media environment."
"Easy to read."
"Instead of going to school, getting a degree, work a career to gain experience, all while maintaining a sheet of paper that, most of the time, doesn't stand out from anyone else's, Gary proposes we take matters into our own hands. All to often people enter the work force and devote all their time and energy into their new found profession, checking their hobbies at the door."

To Sell Is Human: The Surprising Truth About Moving Others
Whether we’re employees pitching colleagues on a new idea, entrepreneurs enticing funders to invest, or parents and teachers cajoling children to study, we spend our days trying to move others. He reveals the new ABCs of moving others (it's no longer "Always Be Closing"), explains why extraverts don't make the best salespeople, and shows how giving people an "off-ramp" for their actions can matter more than actually changing their minds. “Pink has penned a modern day How to Win Friends and Influence People ... To Sell Is Human is chock full of stories, social science, and surprises…All leaders—at least those who want to ‘move’ people—should own this book.”. — Training and Development magazine. "Pink is one of our smartest thinkers about the interaction of work, psychology and society." “Like discovering your favorite professor in a box…packed with information, reasons to care about his message, how and why to execute his suggestions, and it's all accentuated with meaningful examples… this book deserves a good, long look.”. — Publishers Weekly (starred review). "An engaging blend of interviews, research and observations by [this] incisive author". — The Globe and Mail.
Reviews
"I think it's useful for everyone, regardless of your career field, just to understand how to persuade others."
"When I heard Daniel Pink was releasing another book, I jumped at the chance to read an advanced copy. Drive had many examples and Pink used research that translated well into many fields, including my profession, education. To Sell Is Human is a great follow-up to Pink's previous books. Pink's account of salesman Norman Hall is an example of Pink's gift at storytelling. The section on serving others sums up Pink's ideas well and even brings the end of the book full circle ("It begins and ends by remembering that to sell is human."). Pink's use of Greenleaf's Servant Leadership is well placed and if we all followed the "Golden Rule" or as Pink cites the "Golden Girls' Rule" (this is my term, but Pink should consider it) and treat everybody as you would your grandmother, the world would be a better place, not just the world of sales."
"People think selling is a dirty business, but as the world changes, we are all salesmen. We might be trying to sell our kids the need to work hard, or our congregation on a vision, or our loves on healthy eating. We all suffer failure in congregations in various areas, but some learn how to more forward. You do not sell snake oil, rather you are trying to help people realize the blessing of being in Christ."
"Pink has an entertaining and easy to read style that makes it a good book for anyone who's trying to promote their own business/skills/ or just wants to improve the way they communicate ideas."
"I don't sell out of a suitcase nor travel door-to-door, but as a teacher, I am what Daniel Pink calls the modern salesman."

Reviews
"The realization that my marriage was being effected by my nearly empty toolbox of social skills promoted me to take personal responsibility and shoulder the blame myself for once instead of blaming everyone around me for everything. I grew up with a hypercritical Mother so I think I had promised myself that I would never be criticized again, even if that meant writing people off the instant I felt like I had made myself vulnerable enough to be hurt by them. The strategies are applicable to and helpful in all aspects of my life so far, from my marriage to my job, and even to the way I interact with clerks in gas stations."
"I did think several of the principles explained in the book are common sense, but I found that it could be easy for a person to react quickly to conflicts. The first principle emphasizes the importance of avoiding criticism and he describes working with people as: working with people of logic. With this principle, he describes the importance of self-expression and connects it to the importance of thinking in terms of the other person, so that they come up with your ideas on their own, which they will like more. Dale then describes the importance to recall a person's name in the third principle. He further explains this point in principle five: Talk in terms of the other person's interests. Dale describes in the third part of the book the steps to have a person think in terms of your own thoughts. He then explains the importance of agreement and having the person say "yes," at least twice. If all else fails, he explains the importance of competition and how it drives people to feel important and empowered to work efficiently and effectively. He then explains the importance of asking questions that direct the person you’re speaking to, to obtain your idea on their own. He emphasizes the importance of having the person be saved from embarrassment, and then explains the importance of praise again, even if it is small."
"Yes, there is nothing new here but I would say that much like the basket ball star who practices relentlessly the same foul shot over & over again so that when its crunch time, the ball hits the hoop to win the game no matter how much pressure is on."
"I'm happy to have read this--it flows well and many truths to it albeit they're of scientifically argued for."
"Enjoyed the stories."
"This got to be the book that provided me with the most principles on how to win friends and influence people."
