Blues Of Desperation
Blues of Desperation is Bonamassa's most powerfully diverse and boldly realized album yet, with the material ranging from the gutsy, gritty blues call to arms of This Train (Joe's guitar is set to rude throughout) to the elegant yet emotionally shattering ballad What I've Known for a Very Long Time to the soul-nourishing, acoustic-based Americana of The Valley Runs Low, on which Bonamassa's voice rises up majestically to meet Barnes, McRae and Tippins in gospel-like rapture.
Reviews
"And a lot of people like the more restrained, polished Joe better than the early "Rocking Joe". However, what I have really been waiting for is a fusion of both styles into one album, why can't we have all the great things about Joe's old albums and combine it with all the great things about Joe's modern albums?"
"With a rough edge and plenty of rocking, “BofD” shares the same earthy quality of blues/rock centered around a theme of the working man found on "John Henry" and "Dust Bowl". With a brief pause at the 2:30 mark Joe unleashes a primal guitar solo for the next two minutes only to drop you off right back where he left you to finish off the song. Then there's "No Good Place For The Lonely" an 8:33 killer where at 5:00 he unleashes for the remainder of the song; leaving you to just shake your head in wonder."
"I listened to this at my office and people are looking at my like I'm nuts because I'm dancing in my chair. Joe Bonamassa's voice is perfect for this kind of rockin' bluesy sound. ❖ Mountain Climbing - The opening riff on this song gets your blood moving. ❖ Drive - This brings the tempo down a notch, but keeps the intensity high...if that makes any sense. ❖ No Good Place For the Lonely - Has a more typical blue sound, though it's distinctive. ❖ Distant Lonesome Train - The beat certainly smacks you in the face to start this song. ❖ How Deep This Rivers Runs - Starts off slow and mild but really picks up. Joe's bluesy voice with the slow jazz music is a GREAT combo. It's the song you want to hear at the end of the show when you still want to feel the music but you're too tired to dance anymore. ❖ What I've Known For a Very Long Time - GREAT blues guitar riff to open this song. The vocals kick in and it's a softer song that's the perfect end to the album."

"I heard about this album from a thread I started about R&B music I should check out: http://www.amazon.com/forum/music/ref=cm_cd_rvt_np?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx1YA4ZE83NG9MC&cdPage=3&cdThread=Tx2G16Z4SBCWZD2#CustomerDiscussionsNew. "This is right up there with Otis Rush's late '50s Cobra singles (which weren't created as an album), his Cold Day in Hell (live in Japan in '75), and Howlin' Wolf's '50s music."
"Should be in every Blues Collector's collection, it's a great CD."
"Junior Wells is one of the most soulful blues musicians that ever lived."
"Junior Wells on his harp along with Buddy Guy great album."
"He is accompanied by other first class musicians Budy Guy (Guitar), Jack Meyers (Bass) and Billy Warren. I'm sure this and other music had an influence on Bob Dylan's evolution from traditional (but always original)folk music to his reincarnation as a folk rock & something more musician--and who plays a mean harmonica too. "One thing that I would like to add is this: you can just tell how crazy about each other they were! I mean, Good Lord, who would think of something like blowing music into here (the mouthpiece), and then it goes round and round and down, and comes out here (the bell)."
"Along with wife/singer Keely Smith and tenor saxman Sam Butera "and the Witnesses" (sidemen), this infectious blend of post-big band music and R&B virtually defined Las Vegas music of the Fifties and is still going strong."
"Louis Prima in his time was quite famous as a jazz trumpet player (he had also studied violin), singer, dancer (he was called the King of Swingers), actor etc."
"In listening to Prima sing some jazz standards, including "Basin Street Blues," "I've Got You Under My Skin," and "St. Louis Blues," you can hear how another New Orleans-born jazz master, Louis Armstrong, influenced him."
"Where was "he" when I grew up & went to Las Vegas."
"When I don't want to be bothered with the stress in my life I play one of Louis Prima's cd's and I'm good for the rest of the day."
"Everyone should take a listen you’ll be hooked no matter your age amazing music."
"The funny singer we use to hear at my work The one and only Louis Prima."

Reviews
"His early works with David Bowie are not featured; however, it is quite logical to see (hear) how quickly he developed such an unmistakable "vibe"."
"I'm not sure exactly how to describe Mr Vaughn."
"through the years i've collected every one of these SRV greats , the problem being to get them i had to grab a lot of abums to collect them all. in saying essential i mean you get basicly all the comercial greats as well as some not so well known ( to some) gems , and some scorching live performances that in my oppinion is where Stevie really shines."
"I can see why this is called "The Essential..." and is one of his top rated and most popular recordings."
"It's Stevie Ray--how could it be anything but great?"
"Mr. Oak Cliff never ceases to amaze me, must be in the mood however or it runs too fast for chillin to the music."

At Fillmore East
Few live albums are as revered as The Allman Brothers Band's "Live at the Fillmore East."
Reviews
"I was fortunate to see the Allman Brothers at their first large concert opening for Ten Year After in Miami where Duane and Eric Clapton met for the first time."
"Starting from Statesboro all the way until Drunken Hearted Boy - its the only way to feel like you are listening to an entire night Allman Brothers concert on vinyl."
"Simply the best live stuff you'll ever hear- especially Duane Allman and Berry Oakley performing together before they were summoned to Heaven -the recordings are so good-it's like being in the front row at the Fillmore again.Gregg Allman was amazing also- His voice and Hammond are the best combo you'll ever hear."
"At times, it is soft and saucy relying on Duane Allman's guitar, at other times, it is hard rolling highway music driven by the drums and bass. While I am not totally happy with the mix-down engineer's choice of where to place the instruments (the lead guitar shouldn't be in the left rear channel), and I would like a two channel mix, all music, particularly of this quality, deserves better than the CD format."
"Great booklet !"
"One of the greatest rock concerts ever!"
"The Allman Brothers at the Fillmore East is, without a doubt, the greatest live album. ever recorded."
"Never owned this album back in the day."

Raising Sand
Double vinyl edition of their classic album which was released in October 2007.
Reviews
"She has a beautiful voice but the style of her music just doesn't resonate with me."
"The harmonies on this album are beautifully sung, the songs often mysterious and intriguing, and addictive."
"Plant reins in his blues metal shout and meshes with alison’s ethereal bluegrass country voice to produce a stunning vocal blend that perfectly matches the eclectic material."
"Burnett provides an aural atmosphere in which Krauss can apply her considerable talents in new and different ways and Plant can draw upon his obvious love of Americana (his cover of Fats Domino's "Valley of Tears" from earlier that same year being just one example, and his cover of "Little Sister" with Rockpile in the 1979 Concert for Kampuchea being another -- make no mistake, Plant didn't veer from "Immigrant Song" into "Stick With Me Baby" out of the blue; such music as appears on this CD was important to him all along)."
"Lead Zeppelin and Union Station, hard rock and bluegrass, here the "twain shall meet.""
"Robert Plant and Alison Krauss may hit the high point of this unanticipated collaboration on track 2, 'Killing the Blues'. They do and undo the blues, bending their unlikely alliance to the service of wistfulness, regret, memory, and--occasionally--hope."
"The first important clue as to why this unlikely combination would blend to perfection is the innate rare tonalities of both Alison and Robert's voices. It is an almost given with at-home quality, that Robert Plant should sing slow bluesy melodies to acoustic guitars and even a fiddle or harmonica in the soup. But, the Burnett experiment strikes gold when Alison Krauss's voice is mixed razor edge close behind Robert's and the melancholy is so heavy thick in the room all carried with an electric guitar in tremolo."
"Let me begin by stating that I am NOT a fan of country or bluegrass music...that said, I found this album to be terrific."
