Her incredibly fine voice, her inimitable style, her impeccable phrasing, her acute musical ear and her production sensibilities were well in advance of her years. When she recorded these songs in Memphis, albeit piecemeal, and released it in 1969, the music world was in flux and she was still being perceived and marketed as a "Teen Pop Singer." Still too young to rest on her laurels and not yet at the stage of being a Bona Fide cabaret singer...combined with not fitting into the current mold of music of the late 1960's, I'm sure they didn't know what to make of her song choices on this album!
