I also bought an extra extension Unit , but due to all of the limitations it is not clear that it will be usable for a hookup to a Fax machine that should be located between 2 separate Surge Suppressors. The lack of (TiVo) detectable Dial Tone may have something to do with the REN number of (devices attached to) the Phone Line -- which Phonex says should not exceed 5. I will update this, if needed, for significant problems or successes I get with these units, but it would be a good idea to take a look at several of the excellent Reviews for this product before buying."
