Just flick the end of the wax with your finger to get a small grip then pull skin tight as you pull the wax off. Using the oil makes the wax only pull on the hair and not the skin."
"I bought this to use on myself and, yes, it takes a lot of acrobatic skills, especially since I'm not exactly the thinnest of women. It comes with everything you need except for something to sit on while you do your business(I used an old t shirt; puppy pads or old towels or others would work just fine). I start by turning on the wax warmer (Don't forget the clear plastic lid on the wax can) and leaving it for about 30-45 minute on high, covered by the orange dome. Watch the disc and follow the general instructions: apply generous amount of wax WITH the direction of hair growth, wait for it to barely dry, flick upward against the base of the wax(toward the tip of the hair), pull parallel (not perpendicular) against hair growth while holding skin as taunt as possible. I find that when it's honey color when it's dried, that's a thick enough layer."
"I've already done a Brazilian wax and waxed my underarms, in the less than the week that i've owned it :D I'm not going to stick to my tips and tricks rather than revisit some of the amazing reviews that are already here. In the past I've tried cold wax strips, microwave waxes etc, but they all left me more bloody and bruised than hair free. MY STEPS TO DO WAXING. 1. lay down garbage bag under wax warmer and working surface on the bathroom counter, an old sheet on floor & a small bag to put used wax in after. Start waxing. 8. Use olive oil to remove any wax residue. Honestly, i think the hardest thing in the whole process is figuring out what temperature is the right consistency for the wax. I've done two waxes with it (Brazilian and under arms) and still don't think i have it quite right. I ended up with both waxes getting an ice cube, and putting it in a plastic bag and rubbing it over the wax strip. Those that complained the "Kit doesn't come with strips to remove the wax", really aren't giving the product a fair shake. i took a used bit of wax and kinda made a wax strip out of it. Then i'd cover the spot to be waxed with fresh wax from the pot, then put the wax strip over the hotter wax cooling on my skin. I then rubbed the strip a little bit, so the wax strip sort of melts into the fresh wax i just applied. It allowed me to really get at the hair with the wax, and the 'wax strip' i added on top was too cool to stick to skin at all, but added enough strength the wax underneath so everything came out nice and clean. As an added bonus, because you are re-using wax you need less 'fresh wax' to make the thick hard wax strip. GiGi Wax Off Wax Remover (purchased separately)- this stung too, didn't do a great job of cleaning the wax off and it stinks like cheap lotion. I kept it to heat wax if I wanted to do a soft and hard wax at the same time. I ended up purchasing the Satin Smooth Professional Single Wax Warmer Quick - SSW09C as a replacement when my gigi stopped working correctly. Gigi and Satin smooth take the same size pots so there's not concern if you want to try a different wax. They both fit in both the Gigi and the Satin smooth pots): * Satin Smooth Tea Tree Wax 14 oz. - Soft wax for legs (you need strips and sticks when using this). * Satin Smooth Calendula Gold Wax - hard wax for brazilians, underarms face etc. As far as time, using the Satin Smooth pot and wax to do a full brazilian (stem to stern so to speak), it takes about an hour including setup. If you haven't waxed before or in a while, I recommend you go and get things done professionally then maintain monthly with waxing - less hair = less pain. "I'm giving this a 5 star rating although it really deserves a 4.5 (but that's not an option) I am pretty old to the waxing game (I wax myself and my VERY close friends). There's a certain thickness for hard wax to work at it's best BUT that is a known quality of hard wax NOT this wax. Hard wax is not for everyone, waxing yourself in general is not for everyone so if you can't handle the subtle wax smell... Don't wax. Another wax I have tried is "Satin Smooth Calendula Gold Hard Wax" also a 3 star wax. And last but not least the classic "GIGI Brazilian Body Hard Wax" I'll give this one a 4 because it was the first wax I used and it's a pretty safe and classic beginner wax."

"Tips: You don't need the warmer, but be careful with the microwave. Eye brows are the hardest part of the face to wax. Put the wax on thick enough that it isn't blotchy, and it'll come off in one piece instead of flaking as you pull. "A good wax in my opinion, doesn't require you to use strips or a warming machine. I bought a bag of the dark blue (looks almost black) wax pebbles for about $20. I picked up a product plastic cup from a beauty supply store (Sally's) for about $4 (see pic). Poured about 1/2 cup of pebbles into the container, microwaved for about three and a half minutes on high to melt the wax. The only thing I wasn't thrilled with is the wax when dabbing/swiping on my face, when pulling away, I was left with a long strand that stretched and could fall into my eyelashes or something."
