I was concerned that the knife block was enclosed, thus being a possible breeding ground for moisture loving mold/bacteria, but it's not. Each knife was in a plastic wrapping and had a card stock sheath to protect the blade. I was surprised to see that the tip of each knife was additionally protected by a hard plastic casing. I think it looks much more expensive than what I paid for it, and I'm cool with that.😎. The cooking knives have a nice weight to the handle. I'm sure this will come in handy when I'm chopping slimy onions or trimming down cuts of meat."
"If you don’t know how to sharpen a knife or own a sharpening tool AND want to be able to slice things into thin pieces (like a tomato or sushi for instance) this knife set may not be for you. We were impressed with the quality of the product for the low price point and don’t know of many knife sets in the same price range that would offer the same high quality--stainless steel, knife block, etc. (we obviously can’t compare this 40.00 set to a 300.00 knife set). A few extra things: -These knives respond more like a stamped knife as opposed to a forged knife. (forged knives are normally a higher price point) You won’t be able to get as sharp of an edge as you would with a forged knife because of this."
"The reason it looses a star is the acrylic the holder is made from is kinda cheap, and I know it will get scratched easily and will definitely cloud over time (make sure to never use windex on it or anything with ammonia or bleach in it or anything that would scour). Also the "metal" parts on the holder are not metal they are chrome covered plastic and I've seen that stuff tarnish and crack and flake off over time so I wonder if that will happen here."
