I had been eying the Bissell Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine for months, but I relinquished any idea of buying it because of the price. In searching the reviews on here for comparisons between the Rig Doctor and the Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine, I found that many of them said people had tried both and the Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine came out on top. A couple reviews even said that they had used the Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine right after using the Rug Doctor and recovered a significant amount of dirt that the Rug Doctor missed! Other negative aspects of the Rug Doctor that I've read about include: it wets the carpet far too much (as a consequence, the clean tank needs to be refilled often), it's cumbersome to use due to the one direction cleaning capability, and filling/cleaning the machine out is a chore due the clean water receptacle being attached to the unit. So I accomplished the mental feat of convincing myself to purchase the Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine by rationalizing the cost in various, sometimes nonsensical ways. I found the Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine at Frys for $399, and, with the soon expiring Bissell $20 rebate, the total cost after tax was about $410. So I bring the Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine home, unbox it, and get it ready for use. The downsides of the Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine, as small as they are, in my opinion, include: * The machine is heavy and taxing to use. This machine costs three times what my Hoover SteamVac did, but there's no question that the Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine is more than three times as better."

Having said that, I feel COMPELLED to write a review because of the outstanding product that is the Bissell Big Green. I don't know if it was the pictures, my imagination, or lack of taping out the dimensions to actually visualize the size... but this machine is NOT a big, heavy, unmanageable "monster". It wasn't just picking up "dirt", this machine was brushing the carpet fibers so deeply that it lifted out pet hair that my Shark simply could not reach. Now I believe this may be in large part, a function of using the Bissell Deep Clean Pro solution as prescribed... but I also believe that this machine extracts the mixture so aggressively that the carpet dries much faster (than other machines) thus preventing stains in the pad from wicking back up into the carpet fibers."

"This turbine has cheap parts and it starts rusting as soon as it comes in touch with water, which could happen right after the first wash. This issue has been widely reported in Hoover's other models as well, and yet Hoover's clueless Engineering team is unable to change the design or the parts and keeps on using non-stainless steel and cheap parts which seize to operate, right after they come in contact with water and rust. I tried to reason with them that it's waste of time for me drive about 11 mi to take the machine for a problem which I have already diagnosed. The service center folks were very receptive and told me that this is a common problem but good for their business."

Find Best Price at Amazon"Notice when the handheld brush is installed in the machine for storage, the hose becomes very bent and kinks right at the point where it goes into the plastic tool. One final note, don't bother with the Bissell SpotBot handsfree machines that you sit on a stain and their circular brush agitates the carpet automatically for you for like 5 minutes. You end up with a "circle" on your carpet where the stain was that you have to "blend in" using the hand tool so they disappear into the larger area rug."
