"This is a review of the Cuisinart HM090BCS Power Advantage Plus 9 Speed Handheld Mixer with Storage Case. (Measures 8” tall x 3” wide and is 8” long. ). I always do extensive research before making purchases and several of searches came back to this model as being a very good one. What made me want to go with this model were several factors. It has a power button, up and down speed control, LCD to easily know what speed you are on as well as a release trigger for the attachments. This worries me and I wonder if this chrome plating will begin to flake with heavy or long-term use. It just gave me an impression when I used it that it could break anytime."
"About 6 months ago, a tiny plastic part, inside the larger beater hole, which snaps the left beater into place, broke off and fell out of the hole. It would have been better if that tiny part had not broken, but it did and they resolved it in a good way."
"Here is what I like. *9 speeds - makes any job possible. *Beaters - thin but strong and not placed too close together so that thicker batters can move their way through and things like bread dough are less likely to climb up. It doesn't whine and powers right through tough things like cream cheese (even when you don't let it soften as long as your suppose to.). I have lots of little helpers in the Kitchen and the cord is long enough and rotates around so I can maneuver the mixer with all the extra hands helping me mix. When making bread I use the beaters until I have a nice soft dough then knead in my last cup or two of flour by hand. I cook for 5 boys everyday, I make dinners for teachers at the school, I make treats for friends and neighbors...and this appliance has absolutely made doing that much easier. I've done that and the beaters have fallen in the batter, bummer, but it just made me be more careful inserting them the next time. Also, I have never noticed the beaters not mixing at a consistant speed and I have had many awesome smooth batters (which made very delicious treats too!). That's it, the end, I'd still buy this mixer...infact right now I'm looking at it for my sister because I love mine so much!"
"My mixer broke after many years and I debated on which one to replace it with."
"The beaters are strong and have a slow start feature...very nice."
"Works beautifully, and I love the power, and storage, but it's taking some time to figure out how to get the mixer on the storage cup, and the cord is so solid, it's hard to maneuver it while mixing...gets in the way."
"Excellent product, easy to handle, packs power and versatility, storage is very clever."

"My old mixer's speeds were high, super-high, and bat-out-of-hell high.To counter what others have said about the mixer's high speed seeming like medium, we put it to the tachometer test. In the tachometer test, the old mixer's low speed started at 1050 rpm, with the highest speed being 1250 rpm- not a lot of range."
"This is a great mixer, and I'm not sure why someone said that the high speed wasn't enough to make meringues. I have made several with it, and I've only had this mixer for about six weeks. The mixer is much quieter than other hand mixers I have had in the past, and I do think that that could make someone think the mixer didn't have enough power, if going by the sound. I don't primarily buy a mixer for the color anyway (although I could if I weren't such a frugal person, because the colors are really cute). And the actual yellow color of the mixer that arrived reminded me of the yellow hand mixer my mother used when I was a little girl, so I can't complain."
"I made several batches of cookies over the holidays and this thing straight up burned through the dough I used to have to mix by hand with every one of my previous blenders."
"I got this KitchenAid hand mixer to replace a cheaper one that really only had one speed - high."
"I'm super pleased with this purchase!"
"not bad!"
"I'll have to see if these skinny beaters will work like the flat beaters that usually come with mixers."
"This mixer has no speed whatsoever."

"Yes, this mixer does not go nearly as fast as my previous mixers (the last of which broke while making a stiff buttercream), but there's a reason why - the beaters. With my old mixer, it would get stuck in the middle of the beaters and take a good minute or longer to get broken up and be creamed even at high speeds."
"I contacted Kitchenaid customer service and they are replacing the mixer at no charge. Plus, the customer service call was located in the US, not overseas with someone who couldn't speak English. They also put on a new 1 year warranty on the mixer, which is another bonus to me."
"It is very quiet, not too heavy, easy to handle, beaters insert and eject easily, and does an excellent job of mixing my cake and muffin batters."
"A bit heavy, but from what I have experienced all KitchenAid items are a bit heavy...makes it a bit more durable than those flimsy off brand ones."
"Bought this for my son."
"kitchenaid makes a mixer that lasts."
"Like with many products, I had no idea how bad our old hand mixer was until I tried this new one."
"I like this mixer a lot...."

"Most of us have seen these mixers everywhere for what seems to be decades, but it was probably just me that didn't realize all kitchenmaid stand mixers aren't created equal. There is room for improvement though, the rubber spatula sided mixer attachment is sold separately which is what can scrape down the sides of your bowl without you having to angle a separate spatula into the mixer, I would have been open to forgoing some of the other attachments in order to have this one right off the bat, but they are cheaper and easy to find at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc.. Also, the swing back mechanism for the top of the mixer via the hinge at the neck has no protection against it flipping up and down hard. Half star loss for the lack of slow-down mechanism for the head and the lack of spatula on the mixer attachment leaving you to clean up the walls of the bowl pretty frequently, but apart from that this machine is fantastic. CONS: No Cushion For Mixer Head When Lifting up/Down To Prevent Hard Slam, Spatula Mixer Attachment Not Included Requiring You to Scrape Down The Bowl Pretty Often, Expensive (but again, it's not bad for an investment piece-I can't see this thing breaking any time soon or ever maybe). TIPS: TJ Maxx and Marshalls have attachment for these mixers on sale regularly for 60% off the selling price so if you have one nearby go and check for that spatula attachment or even a pasta maker or meat grinder I've seen them all there!, If you are working with dough (or especially if a young one is learning) watch out for it coiling up your dough hook and into the gears-it can happen quickly if you're not careful. Last, I've found that a metal blemish extractor (bought and dedicated for mixer cleaning) is the best tool to get into the attachment holder and metal pieces in the head of the mixer in case they get dirty (or gunked up with aforementioned dough... )."
"The fact that there have been many posts in the past several years about grey residue does not speak well of KitchenAid's ability to resolve issues of quality control. I purchased this model KitchenAid (Aqua Sky) in the past week (in March 2016) and had the problem many have reported of grey residue around the bowl. After throwing away my ingredients, I re-washed twice with a Scotch-Brite scrubby sponge and hot water and detergent, and then twice more scrubbing extremely vigorously with Comet cleanser, then rinsing thoroughly."
"The purpose of this review is more to help with the color selection, in case anyone out there was like me and struggling to differentiate between Ice Blue and Aqua Sky. But I could not find Aqua Sky in person, and struggled with trying to figure out which online pictures were accurate. (for reference I have included a picture of it beside an actual Ball jar lol). In the other photo I have placed a baby blue cup and a light mint green plate, so you can see how the shade of Aqua Sky kind of falls in between the two."
