You think that you can just lift up the handle, but because the way the slots that hold them are cut, you slide your finger at the bottom of the utensil which pushes it forward and wedges it into the slot, making it difficult to pull up. Instead, I tend to push down on the base, which makes the tip of the utensil rise up, and then I remove it by the blade."
