"However I've noticed some people on youtube or other places that shows them having a bit of trouble setting it up so if you're planning on getting this printer use the following steps to have an awesome experience. The VERY first thing you do is use an X-acto knife to cut away the corners of masking tape covering the bed screws! Use the provided Allen Key to lower the bed at each corner TWO full turns! To switch filament (Empty spool or different color) Preheat to 210 wait for it to reach that temp, extrude a little bit and then pull it out from up top). I wish this info was put together in one place like this when I was reading reviews, It took me like 4 weeks to gather all the steps. Now stop thinking about it and just order it!, a year ago you'd have to spend $500 to get a printer this good."
"Red robot = $2700 3D printer. Black robot = $200 3D printer (this one). I'm stunned that you can now buy a 3D printer for $200 and get this good of a result!"
"- Light weight. -small footprint. -easy navigation controls. -intuitive menus (everything behaves exactly the way you'd expect, no confusing menu system). -once calibrated, just works. -not noticeable from a room over as far as noise. There was only a slight bit of slop on his left paw on the bottom but it took me all of 30 seconds to cut it off with an exacto knife. I even went ahead and started the lucky cat... the printer just ran with it and there was enough to do the raft then it transitioned right into the new color without issue. I was pleasantly surprised... so while i'd like to see the feed closer to the extruder I can see why they did it for keeping the machine simple and easy to use for beginners."

"I chose this pen for that it has a door that opens and replaceable tip. The recommended temperature is 190-230 C. I used the black PLA and made some dollhouse windows. In other words if no filament is in it, motor won't continue to run. The website sells extra tips and ABS for the pens. This pulling up action will draw a long thin pla line in the air, as it should. The pen is a bit clumsy but turning the work around with the other hand helps keep my eye on the line. It is somewhat difficult to get tiny curls and leaves when working on miniature projects."
"This pen the best."
"Customer service is also very nice, they send an e-mail ahead of delivery with some very good tips and tricks for success with the pen."
"If you do already have a 3D printer, then this pen pretty much makes you a wizard. I have used this pen with a variety of plastic filaments including ABS, PLA, PETG, Polycarbonate, TPU and electrically conductive Protopasta. After the conductive plastic I just switch the pen over to TPU to insulate and strain-release the connection. Adjusting your temperature, flow, and movement speed can provide different bond strengths between your pen's plastic stream and your printed objects; so you can make permanent or temporary bonds. You can add TPU gaskets to hard-plastic parts. You can print a plastic "soldering board" to fit your wires and electrical components then use the pen to set everything in place."

"Pros -. + Price; this is a very affordable (a relative term, I know) 3D printer/scanner. + Design; this is self contained in a good looking and very sturdy enclosure that can fit on a desk or workbench. + Printing Size; 7.8"W x 7.8"L x 7.5"H. + Software; both the XYZware and XYZscan software installed (and updated) easily and work well on my very old Windows 7 laptop. + Print Quality; "100-400 microns", which allows for very good quality prints (remember, the finer the layers the longer it takes to print). + Scanning Size; 5.9"W x 5.9"H (maximum of 3 pounds). + Scanning Quality; with the right model, the results can be quite good (see "Tips". below). + Support; received prompt responses with appropriate corrective actions. Cons -. - Print Bed Calibration; while not necessary very often, it can be tricky and time consuming to get the bed set correctly (took me 4 tries). Misc -. * Speed; print size and quality settings greatly affect the printing speed (see "Tips", below), with larger prints sometimes taking 24 hours or longer. * Proprietary Cartridges; this printer only accepts ABS or PLA plastic in cartridges sold by XYZPrinting, which is generally higher price per foot than other brands but the cartridges are easy to use, keep the plastic from unraveling, and also contain a desiccant. Tips -. > Watch the videos on the manufactures site and on YouTube; this really saved me hours of experimenting and, likely, a lot of plastic. > Keep an eye on the printing for the first layer or two; this is where the majority of failures will be noticeable and the job can be canceled before there is a lot of wasted plastic on the bed or stuck to the extruder. > Wait for the print bed and printed object to completely cool before attempting to remove the print, it is so much easier! > Keep the print bed and extruder clean; this will greatly aid in successful prints, especaily with PLA filament. > If you get "err, err, err" calibration error, it may be nessisary to take sandpaper to the sensor stud next to the extruder head (use CAUTION, it might be hot). > Third Party sites have a lot of great 3D models; besides the large number on the XYZprinting Gallery, there are sites like Thingiverse and MyMiniFactory that have thousands of files to download. > Prints with a lot of "banding" can be smoothed out using fine grit sandpaper and/or with a soft cloth dipped in acetone. > Scanning light color, non-reflective items without a lot of undercuts will produce the best results; darker items can be sprayed with white liquid plastic (which can be pealed off MOST materials once the scan is complete). I will say that watching the manufacturer's and user videos helped set my expectations on what this printer and scanner is capable of doing and helped me avoid making frustrating (and expensive) mistakes."
"My previous work was on a PolyPrinter - a great unit but more expensive than a Da Vinci and if business looks good I hope to upgrade at some point. That said, I suspect some other reviewers haven't had my advantages so I'm including a sort of walkthrough of my first print with the Da Vinci AiO. I may at some point change this review (4 stars) depending on scan accuracy which I haven't yet tested and the precision of the prints of different models. I rate this relative to what it promises - low cost 3d printing in a pretty complete experience. The print head is locked in place with custom plastic pieces and wires are held down with a heavy duty cable tie. Note that the Da Vinci has a cartridge system which inevitably means manufacturer only provided input ABS. I have no way to know if anyone has come up with a third party method of refilling the spools but that would be something to search for if you're frugal or doing lots of prints. One update later I closed it down, downloaded a pen from Thingiverse and prepared the bed with the recommended glue. Same problem though the larger surface in contact with the bed meant it held on a little longer. I'd expect misadjustments that small can come from anything - compression, stretch or minor changes in belts, fittings, springs, even the paper in the heating plate. Looks like my bad print left material on the detecting pin which is electronic so it has to be clean. After that I ran a geometric figure (came out fine). Summary: Pros. - Plug, calibrate and play. - Simple software. - Cartridge system simplifies ABS handling. - Nozzle cleaning system. - Relatively large printing surface. - Enclosed. - Comes with all required tools. - Comes with 1 spool of white ABS material. - Bed leveling utility/sensor. Cons. - Not fast (though not many 3d printers are). - Decalibrated during shipping despite sound packaging. - Software is walled gardenish - simple if clunky and not customizable."
"I was first attracted to its price and then I read many negative reviews on its brand. It is a Taiwanese product so it kinda scared me when I saw its CES video that had an Asian dude with thick accent just boasting how awesome their product was, while many YouTube videos talking bad about how cheaply designed this product was."
"Great little 3D printer, haven't used the scanner yet but if it work as well as the printer (and I assume it will) this is a great combo buy."

HATCHBOX 3D PLA-1KG1.75-BLK PLA 3D Printer Filament, Dimensional Accuracy +/- 0.05 mm, 1 kg Spool, 1.75 mm, Black

"The finish has an attractive glossy shine, and the material itself has great dimensional accuracy, making for less blobs and zits, assuming that you have a nice extruder/hot end. But if you want a budget filament that can works for drafts AND final products (for many applications), you can't go wrong with Hatchbox Black PLA. Sometimes peeling off larger prints will leave a chalky white residue on the bottom for some reason, but a few seconds with a heat gun will clear that up no problem."
"After tuning in my Anet A8 printer I have been able to print some very clean objects using this filament."
"Perhaps the first filament that I have purchased that didn't require much tweaking."
"Requires higher temp than what's listed on the label."
"Works great for me."
"Hatchbox filaments are the only ones I use now."
"This PLA filament has been some of the most consistent in sizing and printing that I've ever owned, yet it's still a good price."
"I originally purchased Octave filament and my printer does not like the stuff, and I ended up with clogged nozzles several times ruining my prints."

"Good variety of color, and the filaments work well enough, however the ABS material dries so fast that it is difficult to really make good 2D images, let alone "glue"/put them together, and gives of a rather pungent smell."

"Great quality!"
"Working out great!"
"So glad I got the printer refills!"
