"Please note that the night before this arrived, I was in a lot of pain. Typically due to this condition I have not had good luck riding in cars, because the vibration of the road bothers my spine. However, my physician prescribed pain reliever for overnight that works. The bottom line is that I, a patient with lumbar radiculopathy with some pretty bad pain, now view this brace as a partner in my conservative management of this condition. To the extent really depends on body mechanics – but I unfortunately started out with back pain before I started nursing and it has progressively gotten worse. This belt has (you can see fom the picture) extra bands to tighten (or loosen) the back to suit support and pain levels. "I still weight lift and play basketball in a men's league, which is why I like this brace because it is great for both of those activities. Making it very tight has been perfect for weight lifting while I can also wear it loose while playing basketball. I can run and play basketball in it without worrying about it moving around, but to me, its been most useful towards weightlifting because its comfortable, even when I have it as tight as possible, so it helps me keep form and helps to make sure I'm not being stupid and throwing my back out."
"This brace works for me...This is the " BraceUp" stabilizing back support, from the Foxpro Sports Company, out of Somerville MA...it's a nice. comfortable brace that has a designed curve that helps keep the brace from slipping or bunching up...looking for your size you take a "around the belly" measurement, ( I'm a 36 ) and this is a "L / XL" size...and this comes, to me being mighty close to being "to big?"

"1) This comes in a sturdy, easy open box that is suitable for storing the belt when you take it off, over the long term. 2) It comes with a hand pump to inflate the belt. 3) There is a manual in the box that includes: Contradindications. Problem solving chart. Pictures showing correct placement. The full manual is provided in the photos, to help you to determine if this is likely to be appropriate and helpful for you, before you purchase. For serious support that provides traction and molds to your body like it was made for you, this is the belt! Letting the air out, tightening it, and pumping it up again gave me the decompression expected. One of the problems that it will solve is allowing me to exercise (first without it) with no more fear that I will fatigue my muscles and be unable to maintain posture afterwards, or even be so fatigued that bed rest is required instead of my to-do list. A couple things to consider: This belt cannot be immersed into water to wash it. This belt is also to avoid direct sunlight and heat, so airing it out that way is a "no!" The directions state to put it in a cool, dry place after using. It doesn't say anything more about keeping it clean, so I will ask people in physical therapy and/or nursing what ideas they have for that. Our trimmer came out right away, we'll be doing extra checks to make sure that giving attention to the furry creatures doesn't lead to a puncture. If you have had spinal surgery in the lumbar area, then when you reach the healing point that decompression is allowed, your surgeon may need you to stay within certain limitations (pounds of pressure). "I can't find any fault with the quality, fit and operation. You could feel it working but it basically just slipped on my skin and didn't really put traction on my spine. I wrapped it a little tighter and pumped it up again and tried to get it positioned just under my ribs. Truthfully being squeezed like a tomato was not comfortable but after about 30-minutes I forgot about it. What I was doing was standing at my work bench which oddly destroys my back."

The higher end Mueller (the one with the laces on the back) was also very nicely made and a snap to adjust, but again, it didn't offer the support I needed. A brace is just a stop-gap to help cut down on pain on the bad days or when you are stressing the muscles (which, for me, occurs when I'm driving long distances). If you're reading this you probably have back pain, and I very much hope you find the right solution that helps make the situation better or at least more tolerable."

Find Best Price at Amazon"The one that Amazon advised was “frequently purchased with” the ice pack was totally the wrong size for this pack and in the Q&A section someone had mentioned that they were 4x7” which they are not (see my photos for the exact size – about 7 x 9.5 x 0.3 - Large size). ~ At first I was thinking I would not buy the extra inserts and just insert one of the many useless ice packs I already own. ~ The set of ice packs that I bought directly from ActiveWrap, while they are the same as the ones that came with the shoulder pack from Amazon, were actually nicer because they each came in their own nylon sack that has velcro on it and you insert the whole thing into the shoulder pack. ~ The packs inside go right to the middle (see photo) so it ices the whole top of the shoulder as well the front and back in that area. ~ The pack itself is a really nice neoprene but the part that holds in the ice packs is a nylon material so you would definitely want a shirt under it because it gets very cold. ~ The nylon that holds the ice packs is actually two layers/two openings thus giving you the option of putting only layer of nylon between the ice and you or two layers (3 if you have the packs that come in the nylon pouch). ~ It comes with instructions and you can use it for heat instead of ice but I have not needed that so have not tried it. ~ The shoulder pack also comes in a nylon travel pack so you can conveniently throw it in your bag / backpack, briefcase, etc."
