"I've used both Smith And Harris brand of regulators, but these relatively newly designed "Edge" series by Victor, are fantastic. They have an exclusive built in safety mechanism that in the event of a cylinder tip-over, the regulators on impact are protected! But if you don't ever plan on welding with "gas" and only want to "cut" or heat steel, the oxy/propane variant torch kit is for you. If you do indeed want to spend three times the money for acetylene and also weld with it, then get the oxy/acetylene variant of this torch set. It's your choice, but oxy/propane makes much more sense for just cutting and heating jobs for a shade tree mechanic."
