There are three main steel sections which can be seen in the picture titled "Part Names" with the three labels “Mounting Bracket”, “Pivot Arm”, and “Tilting Plate”. Notice that the Powertec has a much more rounded surface where it contacts the tilting plate, making it easier to slide and decreasing the wear on both this part and the tilting plate. Tilting Plate. Look at the picture with the caption “Tilting Plate Comparison”. Note that the Powertec plate is slightly flared at the top of the picture whereas the Rockler plate is straight. The Rockler also tilts down 1.8 degrees, much less than the Powertec. My guess is that the Rockler’s tilting plate will be more horizontal under load than the Powertec, although this is really conjecture on my part. Mounting Bracket. One minor issue is that the Rockler mounting plate has two sides and a center section that should be bent 90 degrees from each other. Material Thickness. The pivot arm, tilting plate, and mounting bracket on the Powertec are fabricated from steel that is 1/8” thick, or .125”. Finally, when mounting casters on my really heavy table saw, I will relocate the mounting hole on the tilting plate closer to the pivot point (where the 1/4" bolt is located) to put less stress on the plate when raising and lowering."

I believe it is a long standing law that country of origin must be clearly stated on the product if it is produced outside of the U.S. As a bit of an amateur welder (MIG, TIG, stick, and gas), the welds aren't pretty but it appears they are adequate however the only way to know is to slice through one of the welds and look at the penetration."

Releasing the hydraulic handle results in the platform dropping to its lowest height in about 9 seconds (again, unloaded)."

"You have to scrape off the injection molding stem buds, and sand the wheels down a bit, otherwise you'll have annoying bumping going on as you move the platform truck. I'm seriously considering just pulling the factory casters, and installing ones with brakes if the screw hole configurations match the platform truck. There is a hefty rubber bumper that goes around the outer edge of the deck to help prevent scratching walls, ect. I tested the truck out in my studio, which is actually a small house with some tight corners, and places where anything too much larger would not work well. I was able to fill up two of my thirty-ish gallon plastic trunks with gear, and stack them on the platform truck with no problems, as long as the terrain is relatively flat, or mildly inclined. I wish the factory had placed attachment points for straps to help secure large loads when negotiating inclined slopes, and ramps.
