Vision for Life, Revised Edition: Ten Steps to Natural Eyesight Improvement
Vision for Life presents an approach to eye health for people with 20/20 vision who wish to maintain their perfect vision as well as people who see poorly and would like to improve their eyesight. Based in part on the established Bates Method of eyesight improvement and in part on his own professional and personal discoveries, Meir Schneider's pioneering approach has helped thousands of people successfully treat a host of eye problems, including near- and farsightedness, astigmatism, lazy eye, double vision, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, retinitis pigmentosa, and nystagmus. The reader learns how to reverse developing issues before they cause damage or to remedy existing problems, including pathologies such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and optic nerve neuropathy. "I have been impressed with the work of Meir Schneider for many years, having personally seen the improvements in vision of those who have worked with him." “Based on the Bates Method, Meir Schneider’s self-healing system has complemented my practice in those cases where our traditional medicine has its limitations.”. —Leonardo Verri Paulino, MD, ophthalmologist and anterior segment surgeon at ABC Medical School, São Paulo, Brazil. “Working with my patients has verified that many sight problems get better and heal by taking up the right habits. Named one of the ten most inspirational people of Israel by a top national Israeli news program, MEIR SCHNEIDER is the founder and head teacher of the School for Self-Healing in San Francisco, which offers programs that satisfy the continuing education requirements of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Born blind, Schneider taught himself to see and over 40 years developed a pioneering program of healing and recovery for the sighted and the blind, sharing his remarkable results not only at the School for Self-Healing, but also in popular books, CDs, and DVDs.

The Island of the Colorblind
Oliver Sacks has always been fascinated by islands--their remoteness, their mystery, above all the unique forms of life they harbor. In his books An Anthropologist on Mars and The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat , Oliver Sacks details the lives of patients isolated by neurological disorders, shedding light on our common humanity and the ways in which we perceive the world around us. ), went to Micronesia in 1993 to study firsthand two rare disorders: achromatopsia, or total congenital color blindness, which afflicts more than 5% of the population on the islands of Pingelap and Pohnpei; and lytico-bodig, a fatal, progressive neurodegenerative disease common in Guam, causing paralysis, dementia and catatonia. With aplomb, Sacks wears many hats?cultural anthropologist, naturalist, explorer, ethnographer, neuroscientist?as he delves into the islands' volcanic origins, their archeological wonders (e.g., Pohnpei's megalithic ruins, remnants of a monumental civilization), their unique flora and fauna (nocturnal tree-climbing snakes, iridescent ferns, dwarf forests), their bloody colonial history under Spanish and German rule, their still active indigenous myths.
Reviews
"(You have to love Oliver Sacks.)."
"The first half of the book deals with two islands that have an extremely high number of colorblind people residing there. The second half of the book deals with Guam, where scores of people are suffering from a debilitating illness with symptoms that mimic the vast and varied symptoms of the post-encephalitis patients we saw in Awakenings."
"I love a good detailed medical story, and I don't have ADD or anything, but I skipped through many pages of "An Anthropologist on Mars", in spite of the great stories in that book. It's full of juicy tidbits from a variety of areas: the history and anthropology of the peoples of the Pacific islands, personal anecdotes of the people he meets, a delightful travelogue, descriptions of beautiful ferns and cycad forests, adventure, mystery... Main story #1: The genetically color-blind people of a small Pacific island."
"But, at the end of the book I found myself to be so knowledgeable about so many other issues related to the islands in Pacific Ocean and their indigenes people that I never knew existed."
"Every book by Dr. Sacks is a revelation and an utter delight to read."
"This book combined his usual empathetic neurological expeditions with travel, history of Micronesia and botany."
"I always enjoy reading Oliver Sacks books for the great information and his way of story telling!"
"Oliver Sacks finds the most interesting stories - one is the effects of eating cycad palm flour - creating Parkinson's like symptoms over time and the other is about an island where everyone is colorblind because they are related to the king who is colorblind (after the small island's population is devastated by a natural disaster)."

Reviews
"To be honest, they didn't cover the questions that people coming into essential oils really want to know. Most guides will give you ways to mix your essential oils in diffusers or in bath salts. There are your typical bath salt recipes, but they are detailed and do cover more than just mixing the oils in. There were times in this guide where it was very clear the writer did not speak or write English as a first language. There were times when the lack of translating/editing was glaring and it made certain portions difficult to read or follow. I don't need to see water boiling, but seeing what the finished bath salts or lotions look like does help to entice the reader and makes them want to try the recipe. There are a ton of oils on Amazon right now labeled as therapeutic or essential when in fact they aren't. This rating is based on how close to the title the book is, the information it brings to the table, and how likely I would be to recommend it to one of my natural health clients. I'd really like to see the writers change things up and come out with a real guide and then a recipe book. I think the two combined would make a great starter package and would set them apart from the hundreds of guides out there."
"The book was very easy to read. I love how it gives you the basics of what an essential oil is along with the examples of said oils."
"Essential Oils are something that I have on my must try list but I have never checked off, for whatever reason. This book is fantastic for those who are first time Essential Oils user or people who have been using them for a while. The author did a great job explaining the different ways to use them and the different types of oils and what they do."
"I have read this book."

Reviews
"Biology went over mitosis and meiosis, but rather unclear and it didn't call the phases what it asks for on the exam, so learn those from another source (G1, etc.). This book gives you the vague overview of what would be on the exam, and it's up to you to fill in the more detailed bits...which is ridiculous. It's free, although you can unlock a full version for $12 or $13, I don't remember, and the practice tests are awesome. The best thing you can actually do is get this book, get the app, and make sure to take some peppermints and earplugs with you because the clicky-clack of other people pressing mouses and computer keys WILL get on your nerves."
"Elsevier's Hesi Admission Assessment Exam Review is an excellent comprehensive guide that includes eight concise sections that are featured in the exam; this guide is easy to navigate as well."
"Brand new book and very helpful for studying great source of info for the HESI exam."

"This did help me on some of the subjects to study for the HESI exam."
"The review is alright, although I can't seem to find out how to access the online material."

The best-selling USMLE Step 2 CS review book--now completely updated to reflect the latest exam format! Tao Le, MD, MHS (Louisville, KY) is Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Allergy and Immunology at the University of Louisville.
Reviews
"I was previously told that the only things I needed to do to pass Step 2 CS was to speak english well and wash my hands, but that is not always the case!"
"I also used the Phillip Brothman book from Kaplan, as I found the actual test preparation tips in the Kaplan book better, but the cases and contingencies in this older edition of First Aid are good."
"The test hasn't really changed outside of a few minor details, which are pretty inconsequential when studying for the exam. I had my girlfriend play the patient, and despite having no medical background and only about 5 mins to review the case before we practiced, she had no issues following along and answering the questions I came up with."
"My school has us doing clinical skills examinations (CSEs) where we have to do a history, focused physical, and post-encounter note during our 2nd year so I used this book to prepare for those!"
"I will recommend this book for every medical student preparing for OSCE."
"My advice for you is to practice on the USMLE website on writing down the HPI (history of presenting illness) as the amount of characters available is limited."
"Covers everything you need for CS."
"I was reading the book today and noticed that pages 335-366 were missing."

Reviews
"Finally, in comparison to other various introductory ultrasound books I purchased before taking my elective, this book stood out among the other because it gave quantitative numbers/measurements on various topics (EPSS for estimating EF, diameter of the aorta measured by ultrasound that should raise concern for AAA, etc) backed by research which was very helpful and added to the utility of performing ultrasound on the patients I encountered."
"The ultimate guide to Emergency US."
"Some damage more than expected."
"Comprehensive, readable, with very high standards of schematics and ultrasound images, this book covers the breadth of ED US practice very well and goes into a great amount of depth in the always-popular areas of critical care and echocardiography."
"Yes, it is more a reference text than a quick guide, but it is clear and rapidly accessible."
