And yes, I had some concerns after reading that some buyers had received either defective ovens or parts damaged in shipment. My suggestion is to take advantage of the opportunity and insert the D batteries in the motor before you connect it to the oven. After buying one thermometer that only went up to 715'F, I exchanged it for this model-the least expensive model that measures over 1,000'F (to give some latitude) this is the one I got from Amazon and am using: TopG® TG8550 -58 to 1022°F Instant-read IR Infrared Thermometer Non-contact Temperature Gun with Laser Sight Targeting Pointing range -50 to 550°C Celsius or Fahrenheit; Built in infrared (IR) sensor and LCD screen with backlight; Battery included. There are several models on the same page. The laser temperature of the stone was about 700' and the air temp shown on the built in oven thermometer was about 400'. I buy just about everything I can from Amazon, mostly because they have excellent prices and better service and it saves me a whole lot of time. I do bake a lot (but have less yeast dough experience) and highly recommend King Arthur flour. Amazon carries Caputo Double 00 flour, and if you get a pack of 10 one kilo bags the shipping is free."
"Upon returning from this trip I've found an excellent local Brick Oven Pizza place, but I wanted to make my own at home. The owner's manual states that there is some trial and error to find the best cooking settings for your pizza oven. BTW, it's late January in the upper Midwest and I was lucky to have the warm temp of 27 F when I was cooking pizza outside."

We used the Cuisinart through a Minnesota Winter and when temps were around zero, it took 15 minutes or so to cook a pizza. Also of note, it was completely cooled off by the time the movie was over so we could pack it back into the car. Luckily we had an extra that is a little smaller than the one that came with the Cuisinart so we could put and pull pizza into this oven. Both come with the same basic additional accessories otherwise (i.e. stand, expanded utensil kits). Pros. + Maintains very hot, brick oven Temps. + Allows you to make incredible pizzas. + Auto light option is very nice. + Portable. + Seems Rugged. + Will take a standard grill propane tank. Cons. - Not quite as beautiful as the Cuisinart. - Does not come with a pizza peel. - Rattles a little in the car during transport. - A little bit of assembly before use. Summary. This is a workhorse oven that may not be as beautiful as the Cuisinart, but the addition of the built in igniter and the ability to maintain, higher pizza crushing temperatures make this as good or better when it comes to functionality."

Scotsman support has tried blaming just about everything, including having too good a filter in front of the units which is not allowing chlorine from the public water to make it in to kill mold, yet both units are served downstream from the same filter. If you deploy one of these in a residence, do so at your own risk if the place you put it is within ear shot of bedrooms, television/theater areas, etc. The cubes dropping out after being formed is quite loud."
