Reviews
"Living in Wisconsin we get a lot of snow, and my previous snowblower was a small 18" MTD that handled most everything for 12 years. The first day was 3" light powder which the Toro chewed through quite well and probably cut my normal shoveling time in half. It was just too much for the Toro to handle and though I was able to clear most of our driveway it took a couple hours and a lot of help from my shovel. And to be fair, I'm not judging based on THAT-- it is rated for light snowfall and a max 10" intake, not for replacing a large 2-stage snowblower. It is very annoying to keep manuevering 30 lbs of heavy plastic cord and bending over to move it. I tried to use an S shaped pattern and kept it on my shoulder which helped but the best thing was to have my wife follow behind me holding the cord. It also helps to move slowly in narrow strips to keep the motor from bogging down. Todays plastics are very strong and the previous Power Curve model has over 700 positive reviews and very few complaints of any parts failing. -it quickly clears small to medium snow-- probably perfect for areas with light snowfall. -snow is thrown an impressive distance (10-20'). -would be good for using on a wood deck or roof. The negatives: -its expensive. Comparable electrics are cheaper and single stage gas blowers start around $50 more. -you need to press the trigger AND a small safety button at the same time to activate motor. (TIP: I put a small C-clamp to keep the thumb button depressed and it was a huge improvement.). I'm going to try and stick it out with the Power Curve for the rest of the winter, but next Fall I'm probably going to need to replace it with a gas blower. The connectors had water in them and the motor armature was wet and the housing had considerable surface rust."
"I live in Northeast Ohio and we just got the years first heavy snow, a wet 10 inch snow some of which had drifted to over a foot deep, all the neighbors had out their big gas powered blowers, you know, the ones that require their own parking spot. Anything below 8" is a walk in the park, it throws the snow a good 10 to 15 feet, the wet stuff more like 10 feet."
"+ Best at clearing 2-8" of snow of any density. + Enough power to get a decent throw to keep snow off of the area(s) you're clearing. + Durable - I've banged mine around a bit and it keep on chugging. Cons: - Light weight - yes, this is actually an issue for a snowblower when you have larger amounts of snow / heavier snow to clear. Yes, it's electric but this little puppy just doesn't have the juice to deal with packed snow or heavy, wet snow that's more than a couple of inches high. So all in all, if you have a smaller driveway, live somewhere where snow is occasional (<8x/year) or snowfalls are smaller (sub 6") and lighter (think puffy, dusty snow instead of slushy, icy) this will work great for you. In the northeast, where I am, most folks use gas snowblowers and while I envy their ease of clearing snow I don't miss the fact that the machines are massive, require ongoing maintenance, and need to be separately fueled."

"The problem is that the battery that came with it is defective and therefore the product is useless. After getting the red flashing light of death on the battery I called customer service to see what I needed to do to get a new one. I visited the Farm and Fleet store only to find out that they do not deal with or work on Greenworks products (they checked with management, the small engine repair department, and their customer service department). Currently, I am still working to get a new battery. I called in advance to make sure they could service the product and the response I received was "I guess so, but we've had a Greenworks blower sitting in the back room for over 3 months and still haven't received the missing parts, but sure bring it in." I had read some similar reviews previously and thought that this would never happen to me, or that it couldn't be that difficult but I was DEAD WRONG. We received about 3-4 inches of white, powdery snow which I figured would be the perfect amount for this thrower to blow right through. It fired right up, the sound being a very faint hmm which you would expect from an electric blower and off I went. The thrower made quick work of the two strips I made and it was much more powerful than I thought it would be - I'd say it was able to throw the snow a good 15-20 feet. It would be nice if the battery lasted twice as long (2 hours instead of 1), but I will say the battery does charge pretty quickly and of course you can buy multiple batteries and eliminate this problem. I feel this is generous considering the poor customer service but the blower itself I would give 4 out of 5 stars, relatively speaking."
"That said, it snowed for over 10 hours and the next few passes cleared 3-4 inches, each time, with no clogs or jams. Let go of the handle, the power shuts off, clear the shoot, push the button, and re-engage the power."
"We did have some decent regular snow in the east coast in the last two years, so, I said "why not" and bought the snowblower as well. I bought this back in October, so my wife was laughing at me all winter. I knew that this guy could not handle the full load, so I made plans to go out at least halfway through the storm. So, I had to try multiple passes and use a system of shoveling the top layer of snow onto an already cleared area. The main benefit was that the blower actually throws the snow pretty far. Thinking back, I may have been able to clear continuously with three batteries, but, definitely would have needed two chargers. (The motor on mine did stop a couple times when I pressed it hard against a wall of snow). Besides, it's small enough to store under some shelving in the garage, and I don't have to fiddle with the gas and carburetors."

"These shovels are sturdy and lightweight."

Reviews
"That was not the case at all, read the instructions!"
"So it would not fit larger than that, but would be great for the same size or smaller."
"This cover's quality appears to be good and, while I may have preferred a thicker material, I am confident it will serve my purpose well, which is to cover my 26 inch Sears blower while it is outside during the season and stored in my garage the rest of the year."
"I purchased this for my 9.0 HP, 29 inch two-stage snow blower from Craftsman that I've had for well over ten years."
"Excellent."
"Fits nice but, you must put it on from back to front. I gave it a real good pull by hand figuring it would just rip but it held without any signs of weakening."
"Love the self-storage bag that's attached so when it's not being used the cover fits into a nice little bag."
"While the cover would be "good enough" to keep dust and grim off my snow blower while stored in a garage by no means is it of a quality for long-term storage outside in the elements."

"Amazing little shovel!!!"
"My car isn't the strongest so if it ever got stuck I'd whip out this shovel and dig it out The metal blade is great and useful for dealing with ice!"
"Used this to dig my truck out of 3 ft of snow that i got stuck in."
"Even though it is incredibly light it could still pick up a good amount of snow and there was no bending or flexing of the handle or shaft."
"Great little shovel, just what I was looking for in a winter snow shovel for the car. I like the idea of being able to shovel myself out, when away from home and no access to the big shovels."
"A huge box that was so big a ton of crumpled paper was included to keep this from being rattled around."
"Very nice basic shovel for emergency or backpacking."

Best Snow Rakes

Garelick 89421 21-Foot Aluminum Snow Roof Rake With 24-Inch Blade
This unique snow flake roller design is easier to use because the blade never touches the roof's surface, preventing damage while making it easier to roll back up the roof. By using the Garelick 89421 21-foot Snow Roof Rake to safely remove snow from roofs, homeowners can prevent the damage of much-publicized ice dams. Removes weight from snow from your roof to prevent eave damage.
Reviews
"I purchased this roof rake at the end of the summer, as I wanted to be prepared for this winter. I ended up taking a thin rubber spatula to widen the opening on each wheel and then SLID them on from the side edges with success and ease! If you make a mistake and put it on the wrong end of the pole, simply soak it in hot water again. You will definitely want a phillips-head screwdriver and an adjustable wrench for fully tightening the bolts when assembling this roof rake."
"We had a horrendous winter this year (Eastern Oregon), and this looked liked just the ticket for getting snow off of the roof as we are too old to climb up there, and it is expensive (if you can find anybody) to get someone to clear the snow off. we got dumped with about 10-12" of new snow!"
"These are the key innovative feature, according to the product description, but there's nothing I can find about replacements, other than the language in the warranty. It worked pretty well in removing snow, even with one wheel, which I did not notice until I had used it for an hour, so it gets 3 stars as an "OK" tool."
"You have to assemble the business end of the rake to a vertical riser that attaches to the poles. The only tricky parts were getting the plastic grip onto the one extension piece and getting the wheels onto the business end of the rake. Other reviewers said it's easy to bend the rake, and I can see that being a problem if you are using it to scrape chunks of ice off the roof."
"This year we had ice dams and couldn't keep up since we had no way of getting on the roof to get the snow off. We have a split level home and we were able to reach the high roof (even for the attic windows) with ease and the ice dam is now melting away."

"My in-laws Ariens snowblower 520e would not start after 3 years of non-use with a full tank of old fuel. Just take an open end wrench, place it on the SQUARE end of the fuel inlet part and twist the inlet to the location/direction you need, so no need for a kinked fuel line. When attaching the carb to the engine make sure to tighten evenly to compress the gasket slightly for no air leaks."
"Priming bulb doesn’t fit perfect - a little loose, but not going to fall out."
"Amazed."
"Fuel primer bulb is not vented like original (instuctions from original model cautions against using unvented primer bulb), so I re-used my original."
"The carburater arrived late, I paid for one day service, the delivery took 2 days."
"Replaced the carb on my snowblower with this one and it works like it is brand new."
"The Tecumseh engine of my snow blower wasn't running well. Running the new line that came with this carb would have been even harder so I didn't bother."
"I used it on an older ariens 5/24 snowblower and it started right up after installing this newer style carburetor that doesn't have the screw on the bottom of the bowl like the original did."

Reviews
"Of course the one on the rear window didn't quite fit like on the windshield but it did a great job and saved this 68 year old woman a lot of work! The first time I let the door shut hard and it caused a burst of air and the flap loosened up."
"The instructions said some cars would be able to just use the flaps but if i didnt tie it down, i would wake up with an exposed windshield which defeats the purpose of buying this item."
"I tied the strings to the steering wheel as suggested on one side, the other I put in the clove compartment and closed it in."
"Some ice & frost got through, but I didn't need to do any windshield scraping to be able to see to drive."
"Due to the very abnormally warm weather we are having here in the North Northeast, I haven't been able to comment on this product previous to this."
"I would love to see this company get a more sturdy product that is a little heavier in material."
"The material is very lightweight, so much so that it slid on my windshield when I went from the passenger side to the driver side to secure it, the cover shifted from its original position to another. I'm pretty sure the neighbors got a good laugh watching me shuttling from the driver side to the passenger side at least half a dozen times like a persistent mad man. The cover did a good job with the ten inches of snow we got just recently."
"Thin material."

Best Snow Thrower & Yard Equipment Snow Chains

TerraGrips Tire Chains 23x10.5-12 [ST90008]
For superior traction year-round, TerraKing TerraGrips offer an exciting new alternative to steel tire chains. Rubber offers exceptional durability and prevents additional tire wear caused by steel chains.
Reviews
"I have been using chains for years but wearing out cross links regularly, marking up my pavement, tearing up my lawn and enduring a rough ride. These seem like the cross links will last longer than the chains, they don't mark up my pavement or tear up my lawn and they give you a smoother ride."
"Easy to install when you can move the tire around and tighten back and front and adjusting the rubber bars without any pressure on them. Bit bumpy when the tires are inflated to 10 psi, I might reduce the tire pressure to get a smoother ride."
"Good alternative to tire chains, but is not good on ice."
"Not quite as good as tire chains, but still very effective, and NO MARKS on my nice paved driveway."
"Had a set for 2 seasons."
"I had tire chains on my tractor and it was leaving scratch marks in the concrete."
"Excellent product, had great traction plowing HEAVY/WET snow (~10-12")."

"To fix the issue, take the left wheel off (depress the two little buttons and slide the wheel off the axle), then press an 8" aluminum pie plate against the hub to make in imprint."
"But it still works, and you can only put as much material in the bin as the space allows anyway, and its not like I have to kill myself pushing it around since my lawn isn’t terribly huge."
"Much, much better than the old fertilizer spreader I had that attached to the back of my mower."
"So far I've spread lime and lawn fertilizer with absolutely no problem So easy to pull the lever for getting the edges."
"Not sure now if I need to double the opening setup to make up for this change based on instructions posted on different ingredients I need to spread!"
"Worked as advertised to weed n feed the lawn this spring. This was the "just right" model and worked well."
"Works great, edgeguard works well."
