Find Best Price at Amazon"About a year ago, my boyfriend and I adopted a six month old kitten and of course, we needed a carrier for her, so we got a smaller Petmate carrier. The biggest plus is that not only can a cat sit up in this carrier, both of our cats fit comfortably in it with plenty of room to move around. The cats stayed in the carrier for the majority of the trip to Minnesota, but I think that had to do with them feeling more comfortable in the carrier than out in the open car since we would leave the carrier open at home and let them explore as they wanted. Once our kitten had reached adult size, we bought another one of these carriers and currently use both when traveling or taking the cats to the vet. We could probably manage to use one carrier for both cats when making short trips, the vet's office for example, but the carrier can get quite heavy and hard to carry with two cats inside."

One other tip to get your dog or cat into the carrier or make them feel more secure in the carrier is to place a t-shirt or any other article of clothing that you and/or family members have worn overnight or for six or more hours in the carrier. By doing this your pet will smell your scent which will make them feel more secure. This work well with pets that need to be crated or placed in a room for periods of time, just like the carrier place any article of clothing that has been worn for six or more hours inside the crate/room."
"The top door will stay open so that I can pick up a cat , quickly take it to where the carrier has been out of view, and drop it in before it knows what's going on. I would recommend this carrier to anyone, but especially older or mobility-challenged cat owners, as well as those who have cats with an unfortunate life history, excessive timidity, or who tend to claw and/or bite when they see the carrier coming."

My cat slept pretty much the entire way for the first leg (400 miles) of the trip, and also chose to sleep in the carrier when we stayed overnight at a hotel. In the unlikely event we'd ever travel by air, I doubt this would fit under the seat of the plane, but I'd probably be tempted to try to bring it and happily pay an additional charge."
