I noticed that the plastic seems to be coated with something non-stick, none of the waste sticks to the box, which was nice; everything slid off slicker than sh_t (ha!). I suspect that will change over time in spots where they pee most often, though, the urine will likely etch the plastic and ruin the non-stick effect."

Prior to purchasing the Catit, made a make shift litter box out of the tub to mainly see if the two cats would take to a hooded style. While the construction is good and materials are at least that of the storage tub shown in the pictures, not sure I would trust the handle or locks when moving it with 25 lbs of litter. Factor the price paid along with features, clean look and ease of maintenance, find it a good value and can easily recommend."

"Aside from frequent grumblings about a certain smoky kitty poking holes in my furniture, my pet peeve centers around The Litter Box. I have tested a variety of litter boxes, from the Booda Dome to the Breeze system, but have never been happy with their performance. For some reason, following my dog around and picking up his warm poop with a biodegradable plastic baggie wrapped around my hand has never bothered me (okay, maybe just a little). An overall disgusting experience that my "cat person" husband somehow has managed to avoid these past years. It's such an easy task to roll the box onto it's side and let all the nasties fall into the convenient built-in tray. No obnoxious cloud of dust assaults your face as the box remains covered at all times."
"Now I have noticed a few people complaining that it either falls apart or the sand comes out when rolling or that the slide hooks (that hold the top portion to the bottom) don't fit, work or come apart. I have to agree that the hooks could be engineered a bit tougher or better, but that being said it is STILL a great produce. If I notice they are a bit to loose I re-secure them before rolling. Ultimately, I may drill a few holes into the top and bottom lid lip (where they meet) and just simply zip tie them together."

They are heavy (when my cats would bury their poo, the pellets would break some of it up into small pieces that you can't scoop), the shape seemed uncomfortable for the cats' feet, and develop a smell after a month or so (and I think harbor bacteria). "Short answer: This is the BEST litter system you can have in your home for ALL of the issues you face with litter boxes: Cost/Urine Smell/Tracking. I started with one system to see how it would be and kept my traditional litter box for about 4 days. My 3 kittens got big enough where it was clear that I needed another litter box but I was so, so, so, SO over the litter being tracked everywhere with the 2 adult cats and the kittens constantly in and out of it. Much more easy to contain and your home doesn't feel like one big litter box with litter all over the place. If we did the recommended amount of Breeze boxes for 7 cats we would have about 15+ boxes and that's just NOT necessary. If you have lots of cats and are away from home for long periods then you should get extra boxes-I think that the amount that they suggest is overkill but it IS a good idea to add more pellets than what they system comes with. I suggest you buy the system, see what I mean and order extra pellets sooner than later, I should have done that prior to when I really needed more, because the cats seemed happier with extra pellets and they were able to cover poop better. I've tried many brands of litter and my old litter box was the kind with the hood and the swinging door but that didn't stop the tracking issue. Another problem: you may have a few days of a stink free litter box, but no matter how tight clumping litter can be, or how good it is at odor control-you'll get bits that fall off and after a few days you have a pee smell that will only go away when you clean the whole box out, and a few days later you'll have the same problem. If you want a litter box that makes you forget what it's like to have a smelly pee box-this is the only solution. What I do is dump the pellets into a the plain litter box that I used for when the kittens got to the "litter box" stage of their lives. Now, the issue with poop is that the cats will cover it but because it's not like traditional litter, it cannot be completely covered up due to the nature of the pellets, so if your cat dumps an extra nasty, smelly pile-you will smell it, the smell WILL travel. A good thing is that you (and your cats) will have a cleaner litter box because you will be getting rid of the poop much more frequently than you are now. -The pellets do come out of the litter box when the cats jump out. Turning the litter box will drastically reduce how many pellets fly out of the box. I have my 2 boxes on one and that plus turning the boxes around really help with the amount of pellets that get on the floor. The first time I bought more it was the 6 pack of pellets and 4 pack of pads (16 pads) and it was $65 for 3 months for 7 cats and I still have a couple of pads left. I'm just now purchasing my 2nd round of 6 pack pellets and this time I'm buying the 2 pack of pad (8 total pads) for $15 instead of 16 as they last a long time, but buying the 6 pack of pellets is the most economical way to go as single packs are about $10 each."
"The pellets with this system are hard, bulky and didn't seem very foot friendly- and expensive- but the cats were fine with them- but they wouldn't bury the poop- and the pellets stick to it- so a lot got wasted. I tried the air pellet BB suggestion- and much more foot friendly- still stuck to poop- but seems less- even sprayed it all down and it works very well- but one cat seems to like it less- they bury it better with this- still wasted BB's cleaning box- but not bad. The pine litter pellets are softer, way cheaper, the urine causes the pellets to dissolve and drop down thru grate- (see prior review from EEEli on Sep 08, 2015 ). Right now I have combined these pine pellets WITH the BB's I already had in there- and it may be a good long term solution- they bury the poop and seem happy with this combination. For now I will use my combo of air soft pellets and pine- and when the air soft pellets are gone, I will probably stick to just pine."

Update 3/29/2016. After some months of using this mat, it is still holding up, and doing a good job with containing dry litter scatter but I wanted to give some additional info. All of my litter box are on tiled flooring, so that really isn't a big issue for me, but if you have carpet, and in particular, have a cat that has a tendency towards out-of-box urine accidents, it is going to eventually seep through if you aren't around to blot up the liquid when it happens."
"These mats will SEEP THROUGH to the bottom padding which honestly feels like a coated foam of some kind to make it nice to step on, but urine can still get in there really good and it will seep through to the floor. This is made even worse by the fact that the mats are plush with the woven plastic texture, so you may go days before seeing that someone peed on the mat, I have to lift and check every few days to make sure but the color of the mat makes it hard to even see honestly. these are great but give them something to prevent seeping through to the floor and making urine easier to wash away from that plush bottom part, a thicker layer of plastic coating or something maybe? These are hands down the nicest looking litter mats and overall plastic mats for a house if you are going through rugs too often, they can be hosed off and cleaned quickly if you make a spill. "I ordered another cabinet and figured I would protect the bottom this time by lining it with a litter mat. Although it's a little wider, I like the fact that the sides of the mat curve up against the wall of the cabinet as it prevents too many stray bits of litter from worming their way underneath. Therefore, the smell of cat pee brings severe anxiety, anger, and anything else that is related to a negative feeling. She was friendly but obviously abandoned and probably had her days limited if left in the busy parking lot of this convenience store. So on this wonderful day in the winter, I walked out with a Diet Coke, a pack of Marlboro lights, and a kitten. Due to her age, attitude, and possibly her political views, she decided to start peeing on the carpet. I then take this 11 pound ball of fur to the vet to pay a lot of money for a diagnosis that my cat is healthy and a brat. Several products will be mentioned as I am copying and pasting this review to all the companies who are responsible in allowing this cat to currently live through her natural life with me. Attacking cat pee is serious business and requires hours of work, determination, and money. Cat pee is anger and anxiety wrapped into one huge ball which needs strong chemicals to destroy. If you are satisfied with Rocco and Roxie, and no odor of cat pee is present, then continue on with your life. If you are CP phobic and can detect a small whiff of cat pee, proceed to step 2. Because I am CP phobic, I put a lot of the concentrated angry orange in a spray bottle and a little bit of water. I highly recommend following the directions of using the correct ratio of water to Angry Orange. Spray the product on any stain, let it sit for 5 minutes, and then start working on it with paper towels. I spray the Rocco and Roxie OxyClean product as a mist on a 6 by 6 foot spot and then sprinkle the dry carpet cleaner all over. I will not be 100 percent satisfied until I replace all the carpet but that will not happen until my cat crosses the rainbow in which she will probably pee on because that is how she rolls. My cat has cost me a lot of money and time but I hope when I am old and peeing everywhere, that someone will take care of me and I will have two toilets in the same room. This means dumping the entire cat box into a black trash bag and then taking lysol to wipe the interior and exterior. Cat Pee Smell is at the top of my offensive list which also includes items such as robot phone calls to my cell, McDonald's no longer frying their apple pies, hair in the shower drain, and taxes. After cleaning the pee and other items out of carpet, grab baking soda and some natural essential oils. Get a brush, preferably with a long handle to protect your back, and agitate the baking soda into your carpet. This step has helped in creating a more earthy and pleasant smell in my home when I do the manic bi-monthly cleaning. As of now, I just update a file with favorite pics of myself and a pre-written obituary for my husband to publish in case my cat does accomplish her life long goal."
"We originally purchased this product because we have a fake-grass pee pad on our concrete patio for our dogs to use when we are not home, so we got Rocco & Roxie to clean and deodorize the pad and concrete.
