"this ramp is prefect for our 80# golden retriever with a sore leg."
"I have an aging English Mastiff who weighs a little over 150 lbs and its getting to hard for her to get in and out of our SUV, 2007 Nissan Murano. I bought this ramp due to the 4 star rating, but I confess I didn't read the negative reviews until after I placed the order. Mine arrived in a nondescript cardboard box that was in fine and acceptable shape for any normal non-fragile item. "The sides of the top of the ramp have sharp edges that could cut your dogs paw pads." It think it will be pretty easy to use some cable and a carabiner to attach it to the metal loop that the hatch door locks to when closed. I weigh 295 and I put one foot on the ramp and push down and it felt as spongy and pliable as a mattress. I also believe it would be too narrow for dogs at the top end of the size spectrum among larger breeds such as Mastiffs, Danes, etc. My Mastiff Maggie is pretty reluctant and timid when approaching new situations especially stairs and the like. If I owned a Suburban or Explorer or something in the full size SUV category I door think this ramp would be way too small and potentially dangerous for a larger dog. It appears the manufacturer has listened to their customer base and corrected many of the imperfections in their previous designs."
"I bought this ramp for its versatility as I own two vehicles, a low sitting car and a high sitting truck, and needed a ramp that would work for both as well as some front and back steps into the house."
"This is a well made, nicely engineered product."
"Two things I am not crazy about is the small button type closure for keeping it from opening when you do not intend it to open AND the handle is tight to the body so it isn't always easy to just grab. Looking at the other choices out there, I believe this might be one of the best, but it is not perfect and frustrating that the little things were overlooked."

"When unfolded this makes a perfect ramp for loading and unloading our large 100 pound lab into the back of our SUV. I'm not an engineer so I don't know the best way to solve this problem, but two things come to mind: 1) Just add a handle strap to all 4 edges, giving you multiple places to grab that don't put your fingers in danger."
"I read dozens of reviews and picked this ramp based on comments about size & weight of the ramp. The ramp is much lighter than previous ramps I've owned and sturdy enough for my dogs."
"The bad: It's really rather narrow so when my big dog is going up or down the ramp, I have to stand on one side and make sure she's centered and stable on it. In short, this ramp would probably be ideal for slimmer, more finely built dogs like retrievers or setter types who would benefit from it more than the larger, barrel chested ones like mine."
"We practiced before we got them, and my dog learned how to walk up the ramp by walking on a board to the couch."
"The ramp may be a bit heavy for some to transport, but the handle and locking clasp keep it from being unwieldy."
"We have used this on a 58 day RV trip and a 2 week RV trip and it worked really well for our three small dogs."
"My back really loves that I don't have to lift our 120 pound lab into our lifted truck."
"As the photo shows, there is room to make the ramp work. The ramp comes with a clip to hold the two hinged halves together when folded. Otherwise, the ramp is well designed and works well."

Reviews
"I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND replacing the sandpaper like "traction" covering with carpet for more traction. I went to Home Depot, had them cut me a 6' x 1' piece of indoor-outdoor Berber type carpet, which I then cut into two 3-foot lengths to allow for the fold. Pulled off the sandpaper (which came off cleanly) and securely taped down the carpet using double-side carpet tape."
"Another reviewer suggested using carpet tape to adhere it to the ramp. I also think the brighter carpet color is easier for her to see than the black which makes her less nervous using this ramp. And, I had to place patio chairs along one side of the ramp and on the opposite side of the ramp...I positioned the box the ramp came in, plastic and terra-cotta planters so essentially she's funneled onto the ramp and is blocked from jumping off the sides. I put a carpet floor mat at the top of the stairs so she has traction and I placed a rubber mat at the bottom of the ramp in case she falls and it keeps the ramp from scooting on the concrete."
"(This ramp is reasonably priced enough and has so many other pros that affixing carpet is an inexpensive addition that is well worth the effort.). For those using a truck (quad cab, etc) where the passenger doors do not open wide, I found that putting the edge of the ramp on the top edge of the running board much more stable than trying to put it up higher close to the floor of the back. (My crazy being-rehabbed shelter dog will only get onto the flooring rather than the seat LOL so you will need to decide where it is most convenient for you to store.)."
"My vehicle is a Mazda Tribute, and the ramp works equally well loading in from the back hatch or the side door. The side door is a bit of a tight squeeze, and I have to steady the edges so they don't tilt, but it's a bit lower than the back hatch, so it's not as steep an angle."

Best Dog Car Barriers

Petego K9 Guard Universal Pet Safety Barrier
For use between the front and rear seat or between the rear seat and cargo area, the Kar 9 Guard keeps your pet safely contained while you're driving. This products DO NOT work on the VOLVO CARS models that do not have vertically adjustable HEAD RESTS, if the headrest in your car is FIXED as most VOLVO CARS and you cant see the CHROMED ADJUSTABLE STEMS in between the back of the seat and the head rest, this product WILL NOT WORK IN YOUR CAR.
Reviews
"Also, the 2015 Forester rear head rests have only two positions: secured, and loose...when you adjust the headrests up enough to secure this barrier they are no longer secured to the seat, and can be removed by applying upward pressure on the barrier or headrests."
"I didn't need to extend the sidearms to make contact with the window since my 70 lb dog only needs a main barrier."
"I did take my granddaughter's dog on an excursion and she was able to slip through the gaps in the side (Dachshund/Chihuahua mix), so it would probably not be a good choice for smaller breeds."
"I had previously purchased the Highland 2004500 Black Universal Pet Barrier and will be returning it."
"My 45lb French Brittany was somehow able to loop his collar over one of the horizontal bars and would have been strangled had he not had solid footing in the rear of my SUV."
"This product has solved that issue, no more jumping into the back seat and in fact, they respect the barrier and don't even try."
"If you ever had a barrier that pushed on your roof of the car and the floor and are tired of the hassel of taking it in and out, then this is for you."
"Didn't fit very well in our 2016 Ford Edge (though that is more to do with the design of the headrests than the product)."

Best Dog Car Harnesses

Kurgo Tru-Fit No Pull Dog Harness and Easy Dog Walking Harness with Pet Seatbelt Tether for Car
Stylish, comfortable and versatile, the Tru-Fit Smart Dog Harness makes it easier and safer to walk and drive with Fido. And it's simple to put on—just slip the harness over your dog's head and clip the quick release buckles around his midsection. This Kurgo no pull harness and front clip harness is great for training purposes!
Reviews
"Not only was pulling nearly impossible for him, this harness also forced the beast to stay pretty close to my side instead of lagging behind or lunging ahead, Quality seems good but we'll see how this holds up in another month or two."
"I love the loop on top that I can just reach down and pull him up a little to correct his actions without hurting him. I also love that it has different places to latch things onto like a leash on top and the car tether underneath."
"He's not much of a puller on walks, so I haven't used the front loop, but using the back loop if he wanted to pull it would be easy for him to pull harder than with a slip lead and harder for me to stop (but that's kind of the point of putting harnesses on sled dogs and horses, right?)."
"This harness is very sturdy and I like the two options for clipping, however, I do feel that the chest part fits a little loose/awkward and am unable to really attach the leash there."
"The problem was I ordered the right size in the first place from Amazon but it was mislabeled as a small when it was an extra small."
"She was clearly not used to riding in cars and doesn’t do well in the backseat, but with the tether I can easily secure her safely in the front seat next to me. Unlike a lot of other dog seatbelt systems I’ve seen, the Kurgo does not require a different product once out of the car. My dog is deep-chested and at first I was concerned that the back strap that fits over the largest part of her chest would be problematic because it does slip forward. This harness doesn’t seem to restrict or restrain her movements in any way; she regularly turns on the afterburners at the dog park."

Reviews
"My husky is gets quite hyper and moves all over the car, but this product is HIGHLY DURABLE."
"I'll update my review in 6 months or so after the dogs put it to use over this coming winter. The company had just released an XL version of the cover for vehicles (such as mine) that weren't covered completely with the original cover. It completely covers my back seat and they've integrated side flaps that will assist in keeping the sides of my seats from getting muddy or wet."
"Ok this is just a great seat cover for pets."
"Have a Ford Escape - fits perfectly for my labradoodle and golden retriever."
"Clips easily to the back seat and front seat headrests and had Velcro openings to allow seat belts to be used when needed."
"I uses this car pet cover predominantly for transporting my sister's multiple dogs in my car and sometimes form my bunny'a kennel if I am transporting him with food (he likes to throw things)."
"It fits snug when you tuck all the things in the right way (although my large dog has found a way to crawl under it so he can hide from our new puppy who likes to chew his ears lol), and I would say protects against about 90% of the normal dog hair and dirt that was ruining our backseat."
"The car seat cover fits right and is easy to "install" - also easy to remove when needed."

Reviews
"The seat height is just tall enough with the little front dip of the seat that I can aim the passenger vents right at him, even with him lying down, I can see his fur blowing. Seat seems secure once buckled in the passenger seat, he has plenty of space for more growing room and still be able to curl up and nap."
"We recently purchased this car seat for Lacy."
"After getting my new car, I decided to give this thing a try (mainly so that she wouldn't scratch up the new seats lol). Anyways, this car seat has turned our car rides into joy rides!!"
"Ten years ago I got my first Lookout car seat when I realized that the swaying of a different style seat caused my Bichon Frise to get car sick. When I got a little 10 pound rescue dog this year, I found that although the seat easily accommodates two dogs, it becomes a problem if one is terrified of cars to the point of throwing up every trip. After comparing the measurements of the ‘medium’ size Snoozer Lookout seat to my existing ‘oversize’ seat, I realized that it was just a name change and that they were exactly the same. Dogs can see out all of the windows and it really does alleviate the nausea associated with motion sickness."
"The medium fits perfectly in the back seat of our Ford F-150 FX4."
"The other medium pet car seat we purchased for Trevor, a Jack Russell. Also, I like the fact that the puppies can be tied to the seat belt so they stay on their seats and don't wander around the car, so pet hair is only shed on the pet seat."
