My go-to is the Furminator, but my main gripes with it are that it is uncomfortable for the cat (pulls his skin excessively at times) and its blades, even on the long-hair version, fill up with nearly every swipe."

I was thinking my dog must have some small percentage of poodle genes in her, because she never sheds. Then I started looking closer through her fur because I noticed she was much wider than she used to be. They look sharp, but they are nice and rounded and are fine against her skin, as long as you don't press too firmly. I think this us much better than the Furminator because it goes easier through the fur and doesn't hurt as much."
