"The carrier fit snugly, but easily, under the seat on the first three airplanes. This pet carrier is a bit wider than some, and so the under-seat width may be critical to whether or not the carrier will fit comfortably under the seat in front of you, and, with luck, also allow enough room for you to slide your feet on either side of it during the flight. Be aware that some airplanes have sound and TV equipment fastened under the middle seat, therefore both height and width should be checked before you book your seat to ascertain the best seat for you to book on a specific airplane when you have any style of pet carrier with you. (You are not permitted to allow the dogs out of the carrier while inside the terminal or on the airplane. I carried two small dogs at the same time (one is 8 pounds and the other is 11 pounds) in the Pet Peppy Expandable Pet Carrier. Because I didn't have a wheeled suitcase to mount it on, I had to use the included sturdy shoulder strap to carry the occupied carrier from the far end of one terminal into another (somewhat distant) terminal. Twenty-two pounds doesn't sound like much to carry, and it was fine when I only had to carry the dogs and their carrier (plus a twenty-five pound backpack) for relatively short distances. I am still surprised, and impressed, that I can honestly tell you that I see no damage to the bottom of the carrier or to the place where the shoulder strap is anchored to the carrier after I dragged it that far. Building wheels into the carrier bottom would only elevate the carrier, making it more difficult (if not impossible) to slide under the airplane seat in front of your seat. When this carrier wears out, I will not hesitate to purchase another Pet Peppy Pet Carrier with the same expandable "wings" on the sides."
"He is able to curl up and sit inside the carrier all zipped up (a tight fit but he can), but knowing that we can give him lots of extra space once the carrier is on the ground is so refreshing."
"My cat is 9.5 lbs and can stretch all the way out in it when unfolded and comfortably lay in the center when folded up."
"I went on vacation and the cage worked great it unzips to make more than enough space for my jack russell terrior who is about 16 inch tall and weighs 19 pounds."
"I chose to order this specific carrier because I wanted one that opened on both sides without breaking the bank. Even though I chose 2 day shipping at checkout, it took 6 days to arrive. When I opened the carrier and started exploring, I discovered one of the zippers on the side that opens the netting was slightly separated from the netting."
"There is a leash attachment inside which would be very handy to keep pet inside when you open to check on him."
"I love that this carrier has the sides that fold outward, and the collapsible water bowl that came with it will be very helpful."

Questions to ask before traveling with your pet: Is my pet too old or young to handle the stress of traveling? Using a carrier that is too large could result in motion sickness. Prior to traveling make sure to allow ample time for your pet to familiarize itself with its carrier. If your pet does not like being inside, or tries to escape from the carrier, we recommend further training prior to travel or considering transporting your animal in a hard-sided carrier. Traveling by Plane Always check your airline's rules and regulations prior to flying. If prescribed, be sure to get clear and precise instructions as to the dosage, the frequency of the dosage and any risks involved with sedating your pet. Cats should travel with a collar that has a quick release or break-away feature. Prep your pet for travel. Acquire a health certificate and ensure your pet is up-to-date with its shots no more than 10 days prior to your departure. If prescribed, be sure to get clear and precise instructions as to the dosage, the frequency of the dosage and any risks involved with sedating your pet. Cats should travel with a collar that has a quick release or break-away feature. The Sherpa Original Deluxe Pet Carrier is stylish, lightweight, and conforms with commercial airline carry-on specifications. Large carrier measures 19” L x 11.75” W x 11.5” H. Do NOT select the carrier size based on weight only.

"The first two photos were taken on a brand new 737-800 on Southwest in a 3-aisle-3 configuration, I'm sitting in the window seat. My 10 year old daughter wanted to have our 15.8 lb long haired dachshund in front of her, but he started to fuss a bit mid flight, so I moved the bag under the seat in front of me which is a window seat. The middle seat has the most foot room with slightly more generous width between the bench seat support. I also flew on an older Air Canada Airbus A319, (photo 3 and photo 7) and that time it was an aisle seat, also not a problem."
"Great carrier."
"When I researched for pet carriers, I found pictures with animals next to or inside the carrier very helpful."
"I'm a 5'3" female and found this much less cumbersome to carry than the awkward plastic carriers, and the shoulder strap is a welcome option."
"Although I was very nervous about getting turned away due to the size of the carrier, I acted like we had done this a million times (unlike the woman in line next to me with a dog that did not stop barking/squealing for the entire 15 min I was next to her). The carrier DID fit with a little squishing and maneuvering, but since the flight atttendants on some of the flights were very strict, I used it to be able to pull the carrier out from under the seat mid-flight and give my little guy some reassuring pats on the head. Once he became comfortable sitting in the box, I put a treat on the bottom and as soon as he put his head down to get it, I zipped the lid and let him enjoy his treat in there. I expected him to freak out the first time (my dog is not well-trained by any means; he will not even sit on command most days), but he stayed calm, so after about 5 minutes of me sitting by his box, I picked it up, did a few laps around the apartment, went down the elevator, loaded him up in the car and took a short drive to the pet store. Due to time constraints, we never trained for staying in the box longer than 2 hours, despite us having about a 7 hour trip time with the layovers. Stop the behavior and do not let it out of the carrier until the behavior has stopped and some time has passed. To help with his ears popping, I brought several nylabones on the plane (the pocket on the carrier is perfect for a few treats, a collapsible water bowl, a potty pad for layovers if you don't have time to take your dog out between flights, and a Kindle for yourself). My dog has a bite similar to a pitbull, and the determination of a 6 year old trying to reach a giant piece of candy that was put just out of reach, so when he started trying to eat his way out of the carrier during the last 30 mins of the flight, every scenario of him running through the aisles like a mad man started running through my head. Once your bags are checked in and your dog has the "ok" to fly, check out the security line. If it's short, I recommend walking out of the airport and giving your dog some last-minute fresh air, one last bathroom stop, and a moment for the vet-recommended Benadryl to kick in. When the time comes to go through security, you'll put the carrier through (I also had a backpack with the blanket tied to it and a large coat) and carry your dog through the x-ray machine. I put my dog back in the carrier at this point, but if your dog's leash is easily accessible, you could probably get away with walking it on its leash to the gate (at least that seemed to be the case at SAN, PHX & MKE)."

"I tried this carrier with my cat since plastic pet carriers can be heavy. What I like about the carrier: - Lighter than the hard plastic pet carriers. - Carrier has both a side opening for your pet as well as a top opening where you can drop them into the carrier. - It's difficult to get the cat into the carrier because the top opening is very narrow & you can bet that the cat's NOT going into the side opening voluntarily - no way, no how!"
"This carrier is very nice."
"I told her to just set it up and maybe put some toys are a t shirt inside."
"Pros: ● The fleece pad is machine washable. ● The dual zippered openings allow the pets to be placed into the carrier through the top of the unit, or through the side entrance. ● It feels sturdy when carried by the handles (I don't care for the shoulder strap, it's not comfortable in my opinion). Cons: ● Smaller than I expected."
"We bought this before flying cross country to pick up our golden retriever puppy."
"I love AmazonBasics pet carriers! The one in my cat carrier has been torn at, and my bunny demolished the one in her carrier the minute I put her in."
"We bought this carrier as we travel by car and plane frequently with our cat."
"I put the carrier w/Ozzie, 12 pounds of playfulness, in it on my car's back seat for his annual trip to the vet & when I took him in, the seat had a severe indentations where the carrier feet were."

"Love this pet carrier. I love that I can keep my dog inside but allow her to stick her head out the side hole. Technically I'm sure up to a 10 pound dog *could* fit in this carrier but they wouldn't have room to really move around at all."
"I regret buying Southwest's special pet carrier, because turns out it is triangular, leaving little room for your pet inside! Southwest airlines pet carrier had ZERO padding, and almost no room to add any padding!"
"*Buys the most expensive pet carrier, chooses the cardboard box instead."
"I do wish the little pockets had zippers or Velcro so they would feel more secure."
"It has to be light because the airline only accepts 17 pounds (cat + carrier) yes, the cat is on diet, so..."
"She has hated the hard carrier that we have forced her into to go to the veterinarian so hope she will find this less traumatic."
"There is also a sleeve on one of the sides where you can put items in as well. There are mesh screens on all sides for your pet to see through."
"It's really stylish and the perfect size for my 6 lb chipoo."

"I was having a hard time finding something I liked, was a decent price and big enough but not too big. He's never had a crate before but surprisingly seems to like it, I have it left out for him to come and go as he pleases so when its time to shut him in maybe it won't be so traumatic (He has a very hard time traveling!)."
"About a year ago, my boyfriend and I adopted a six month old kitten and of course, we needed a carrier for her, so we got a smaller Petmate carrier. The biggest plus is that not only can a cat sit up in this carrier, both of our cats fit comfortably in it with plenty of room to move around. The cats stayed in the carrier for the majority of the trip to Minnesota, but I think that had to do with them feeling more comfortable in the carrier than out in the open car since we would leave the carrier open at home and let them explore as they wanted. Once our kitten had reached adult size, we bought another one of these carriers and currently use both when traveling or taking the cats to the vet. We could probably manage to use one carrier for both cats when making short trips, the vet's office for example, but the carrier can get quite heavy and hard to carry with two cats inside."
"Having just adopted brother and sister kittens that are so adorable they deserve nothing but the best, I chose the Petmate two door top load pet kennel."
"This is a good size for a kitten or toy size puppy."
"The top loading and side loading is great."
"It is also a pretty big carrier, so if you have a larger cat I would suggest getting this. The top loading door is also pretty sturdy, I was worried that it would bend when I picked up the carrier but I've had no problems with it moving at all."
