"I know another reviewer was worried that reboiling wouldn't be effective since they might be similar to mouth guards. Somehow it stuck to my metal spoon and stretched out by almost a foot like pulling silly putty. After quickly folding it back together, it dried into this weird oval shape with lots of creases. Also, my AC turns on and off throughout the night with a big clunk that wakes me up every time. The noise reduction rating on these is higher than other products I've tried and the difference shows for sure."
"It feels like the only thing holding them in my ear is the silicone or foam tip that are actually lodged in my ear canal. Pros: Very easy to mold. Color options. Great fit and feel when warm (just after molding). Cons: Disappointing noise reduction. Terrible "ear feel" once placed in the ear for use. I would not recommend these ear plugs."

"Each pair is individually wrapped, so I throw several into my suitcases and travel kits to sleep through noisy motel/hotel nights and jet planes. To get the full noise reduction, you must squeeze the plug down very thin, then quickly insert down into your ear canal, not just the outer part."

When I sit inside the car and listening to MP3 though the earbuds, I could hear the difference in lowered fidelity, but once outside, regular conversations sounded just fine. If you find the foam tips too small, just note that you can buy the large Etymotic ones to play with."

Find Best Price at Amazon"Most of my shooting is done at indoor ranges; and everyone knows that gunfire (or any loud noise) is more severe in an enclosed environment. In my set of Impact Pros, the volume needs to be cranked up almost to full maximum in order to attain a "normal" level of hearing, and it seems to me that there is also an unusually high amount of background hiss. As far as "cutting out" when there is a sharp spike in the noise level, though, the electronics in the Impact Pro are wonderful. If the unthinkable happens and I really do have to press that trigger one unfortunate night, I'd prefer to come out on the other side with my hearing still intact; but the other 'plus' about the (electronic) earmuffs that is often overlooked is the sound amplification. Howard Leight does not market these as "tactical" hearing protection, so it would be unfair of me to rate them as such. So would I recommend the Howard Leight Impact Pro earmuffs to my best friend or family members? Some misguided individuals will claim that the low profile makes them better suited for long gun use than the full size Impact Pro; i.e. that the low profile design doesn't interfere with their cheek weld. What I know for a fact, though, is that bigger guns make a bigger boom, and I'd much rather be wearing these Impact Pro muffs than the Impact Sport when I'm shooting a big-bore rifle/shotgun... or worse, when I'm standing NEXT TO a person shooting one at the indoor range! As a "graduation present", I bought her a pair of these Howard Leight Impact Pro earmuffs. :-) FYI: I also bought my daughter-in-law the ESS ICE NARO 2x Eyeshield Kit as part of the graduation present."
"I know that there are a lot of reviews about this item but I wanted to share my experience having purchased both the Impact Pro and the Impact Sport (R-025024) model Howard Leight by Honeywell R-02524 Impact Sport Sound Amplification Electronic Earmuff, Black. They look bulky and if they did not have the same brand name you would think that the Impact Pro is a much more inferior product than the Impact Sport. When you put the Impact Pro on and raise the volume all the way to high, the sounds are not louder than what you would hear without them while the Impact Sport amplify the sounds and you can hear better. They are also enormous compared to the Impact Sport (see attached photos) and they do not fold nicely as the Impact Sport do. I also find both the Impact Pro and the Impact Sport very comfortable and do not feel that I want to take them off after a couple of hours of wearing them but comfort varies from person to person and you may find them more or less comfortable than I do. In my opinion, the Impact Pro are made for the indoor shooting range and the Impact Sport are made for outdoor activities and would most likely be great for hunting because they amplify the sounds around you while they seal your ears from the gun shots as long as you are not shooting high caliber pistols of rifles."
"If you're by yourself the smaller "Impact Sport" ones will do but you invariably end up beside somebody at the range with a hand canon that the smaller ones just aren't enough for. The electronic cutout seems a little more immediate with these than the sport model as well."

"This came in a nice case, was relatively easy to use (once I figured out how to put in the battery),and was reasonably comfortable to wear. 2) There is a lot of annoying high frequency sounds in a noisy place. But as soon as I got into any kind of noise, I was bombarded with high intensity, unpleasant sounds. Coming back from a trip I found my pockets empty--I had lost the hearing aid. It costs nearly three times what the Britzgo did, but has features that will make it much more useful: digital signal processing, noise and feedback cancellation, and most importantly--automatic gain compensation/compression."
"The medium size dome was already on the amplifier so I tried that first and worked with the 4 modes and the sound level of the TV until I had an acceptable voice coming in my ear from the amplifier, but soon the medium dome was bothering my ear -- it was in too far and when I removed it, it would turn inside out. I found that with the large dome the voices sound different than with the other two domes and when I pushed on the mode button and also adjusted the sound of the TV, I could get a really good sound that without having voices run together or garbled. I was so happy as I walked back down the hall -- I just felt more connected than I had before -- in fact, I never felt this connected with the expensive hearing aids. I have had the TV on all day because in order to get used to listening to sound through the amplifier and I have checked the TV's sound level throughout the day because I wanted to make sure it was not so loud it would disturb my neighbors. I can also hear the water running in the sink, the toilet flushing, answer the phone without removing earbuds, One day I was talking to a maintenance man I had called when I found water all over my floor in the corner of my bathroom. Note: I am practically deaf in my right ear and it does not help that ear at all, but I have a hearing problem in my left ear that is not severe and it really helps that ear."
