"The best cotton (actually 60/40 with polyester) long underwear!"
"Kept me dry and warm during a recent trip this winter to Yellowstone."
"I like them enough that I bought three pairs afterwards.Maybe a bit smaller or tighter than I'd have preferred, but definitely better than OK."
"Tall and thin."
"Leg length is a bit short for me As long as I layer socks over the bottom they don't climb up my leg."
"These are a good weight if you are in and out of the cold."

"In comparison my 67% wool Wigwam socks are thicker, but just a bit too thick for my tastes. There is some pilling, but nearly as much as you'd expect from wool socks in this price range."
"The socks are very slightly different, but the quality has gotten better, contrary to some recent reviews, and I like these newer ones more than my old ones. Socks are way more important than a lot of people realize and these just make me very happy."
"The outside tempeture started dropping into the single digits to below zero and one day my feet were so cold, if my heater would have went out I would have been in trouble but what was really funny was the one day I went to work and on my one foot the soxs actually did not go all the way up and my foot was actually warmer without the cheap sox on."
"I've been fighting all of these things for over a year and not once have I thought that maybe wearing cheap hanes socks might have something to do with it. Here's what I have to say about People Socks: I have a size 12 foot on the wide side and these socks fit my feet perfectly. My feet do not sweat whatsoever in these socks and my feet have a tendency to sweat even when I'm sitting down doing nothing that involves a lot of walking or running when wearing cheap hanes socks. With these socks on my feet stayed completely dry, they felt a little cold as if water was trying to get in, but my feet stayed bone dry. I cannot believe the change in my foot condition just from wearing wool socks."
"I bought these just in time for the recent cold snap where I live (the temps were ranging from highs of 18 F to lows of -4 F)."

"Inspired by a photo on the product page, I even tried wearing a buttoned collared shirt underneath one, and this looks great- the Duofold shirt looks like a lightweight sweater over the top and classes up nicely."
"I've trusted Duofold products since I can remember, and I've hunted and fished, backpacked and camped, and skied and sledded as many of the 60 years I've been around on this planet."
"It does get quite cold here in New England in the winter so I wanted a thermal long sleeved T-shirt for the bottom layer."
"I bought this top to give as a gift and got the matching pants as well."
"It isn't the waffle-type thermal."
"It fits a little snug, but I guess that's how it's supposed to fit since it is a base layer to keep out the cold."
"Provides exceptional warm comfort for regular day to day use."
"The material feels nice but unfortunately it shrunk significantly after 1 wash and dry cycle."

Best Men's Hiking Pants

CQR Men's Tactical Pants Lightweight EDC Assault Cargo TLP105
CQR tactical pants are constructed with a hint of military and law enforcement performance design.
Reviews
"I've crawled through mud, climbed trees, and wiped greasy hands on these pants and after a washing they look just as clean as the day I got them...it's magical. Hardcore 511 fans aren't going to switch over to these pants, but if you're looking for great pants at an affordable price that you won't be afraid to try and destroy, then I think you'll be very pleased with these pants. Differential gear oil, thorny bushes, crawling on your hands and knees on a gravel road, or lassoing a wild giraffe, these pants hold up to anything."
"The stitching reflects the Chinese origin: sloppy work, with dangling loops of thread. The rear pockets are pleated, with a diagonal flap and Velcro pad situated off-center: strange looking, but just might be quite serviceable. The left features side gussets and a Velcro flap, but the pocket is too small for a cell phone, keys, or much of anything else. Except it's just about the right size for a couple of .45 magazines, and that might or might not be a useful feature (A Glock 17 mag fits nicely, if you're a fan of poodle shooters). Oddly, the right cargo pocket has a little slit at the top of the flap (shown in the second photo from the bottom, lower right)."
"Lightweight durable material, lots of pockets in a good configuration, just the right fit for me- not baggy but also not too tight. Even with these complaints I still rate them highly, although I may find another to test for better durability before buying another pair."
"in if I want to conceal carry in the right front pocket instead of wearing an IWB holster, which the waist also accommodates very comfortably."
"I read all the 5 star reviews and all the 1 star reviews."
"But he wanted a pair of lighter weight camping pants and he has several pairs of 511's that he wears all the time."

"(for reference I am 5'8", 175#, 32" waist and usually wear either an athletic-cut large shirt or a medium if it's cut normally...yes, I live in size hell). Bonehead: This shirt is 100% cotton and is very tough. Given the pros of the other shirts, however, I must say this style is my least favorite (but still a great shirt, and my go-to work shirt). The "Super Bahama" version has a print rather than solid colors. I wear a small in this shirt as well. I wear a small in this one as well and it's my favorite for very hot weather but I would be very hesitant to wear it for work applications. Baitcaster: Lightweight like the Tamiami but different cut and different pockets. It's kind of a cleaner version of the Tamiami, however, because of the cut I wear a medium in this rather than the small in most of the others. In a hot climate you may be able to find a cooler shirt but if one exists I don't know about it."
"Shirt feels great, and is a bit lighter than the PFG gear you usually see from Columbia."
"Great shirt, very breathable."
"I bought a large and I think it is sized just right....but my son, who I bought it for, likes the look & feel of it but he thinks it fits a bit looser than other shirts he owns."
"It doesn't really show in the photos and is ridiculous on a shirt you are never going to tuck in."
"This is a fine shirt."
"Perfect for all hot weather activities except for just standing around in hot humid weather."
"It only widens the shirt....not lengthens, so I had to return because if you have big shoulders and are over 6' tall, these are not sized long enough as the photos suggest."

"Hard to fault these shorts, they're cool, I've felt, A lightweight fabric and a built-in belt."
"Great shorts, easy to hand wash and line dry."
"I own one size up and had to buy a smaller size, and it fit exactly as I'd hoped."
"Although the fit is to be as expected I find that these do run a bit small so I returned and reordered the next size up."
"This is my second pair of these shorts."
"Very lightweight and fast drying."
"Deep pockets. 1 Zippered pocket. pockets a bit slippery making it easier for stuff to potentially slip out."
"Just great shorts!"

"When I deployed to Afghanistan, a buddy recommended I stock up on wool socks. After the first time slipping my feet into a pair, I was sold - never going back to cotton/poly blends. So, I shopped around quite a bit to find the best bang for the buck - when you're a single dude in the military, you're not exactly rolling in the dough. My research discovered the best wool socks out there (IMO) were the Redhead brand that Bass Pro shop sells - $10-15 for a pair."

Best Men's Thermal Underwear

Duofold Men's Mid-Weight Wicking Thermal Pant
Classic 2-ply cotton-rich thermal underwear. 60% Cotton/40% Polyester.
Reviews
"I got these and the Heavy Weight double layer thermal shirt, which seem perfectly matched."
"These things work well in the sense that they keep you warm without overheating you during cold (sub zero Fahrenheit) climates, but they don't fit you that well in the area males would like the most support. It's not a bad purchase for the price, but if you want an all-in-one product, I'd spend the extra money to get maybe full or mostly synthetic thermal pants."
"He almost would not let me order him longjohns, because he thought they were the old-fashioned white waffles, LOL!"
"They feel weird when I first put them on and begin my day, but I get used to the extra length in the crotch area and they end up doing a fine job of keeping me warm."
"I bought some duofold shirts and they shrank a bit. Overall very warm and light weight, even under your shirt or pants."
"As noted in someone else's review, they don't fit as snugly as briefs, so unless you're more of a boxers fan don't be surprised if you're more comfortable with a pair of briefs as an under layer (I am)."
"got these for my boyfriend and he loved them."
"The medium ended up fitting much better, however they are still a little short in the length (nothing a tall wool sock can't fix)."

"They are comfortable enough to sleep in or wear as a first layer under winter clothes. If you like long underwear fairly tight so you can wear another layer on top...without feeling bulky, get your usual size."
"I bought this shirt (Medium size) for my mom, and going to send it to her as a gift ( a week earlier got the same shirt but in S based on reviews, thinking it comes bigger than expected. There is a white brand-name small label on a left sleeve, near the wrist."
"I'm pretty particular about fabrics and neckline--I can't stand anything really tight around the neck."
"I work outside a lot and the thermal works very well and easy to layer over."
"this is a great shirt.. keep an eye on the price.. it changes often .. it's really one of the best of its kind.. keeps my always cold women warm, and it doesn't stay damp if you sweat .. she has 3 of them.. wears them as undershirts."
"Fits good everywhere - shoulders, bust, waist, length, but the arms are about 1-1/2" too short at 5'-7", so I'm either tugging them down a bit or scrunching them up."
"Okay - I am 5'8 and the sleeves were short on me, but I liked that, because the ends of the thermal sleeves did not stick out from my sweater."
"I do think it works to keep me warm; was worried not to order too large; now I wish I had, for despite cold water washing and air drying, I believe it has shrunk...so I would advise getting it one size larger than you need..."

"I bought this for my 9 yo and it was too small so it went to my 7 yo who is true to size or a bit on the small side for his age."
"The sizes are pretty true to normal sizes, but I initially used the size chart and measured my little guy."
"My boy is small for 10 and wears 8-10."
"Warm and comfortable."
"This fits my 7 year old who usually wears a size 8, perfectly!"
"Kept kids warm and dry, but material snags easily and even jacket tags created bad wear spots after a week of use."

"My son loves these long underwear."

"My husband first learned of these "liner" socks when walking the length of Great Britain about 15 years ago - and has worn nothing else since then."
"I ended up using medical tape to line my feet, then the liners, then socks and this worked OK, but not ideal."
"In fact, I brought two pairs of these and two pairs of another brand liner, but only used these after using one of the other liners for a day."
"I finally decided to get rid of all of my little white and blue polypropylene socks."
"These fit just as I hope, almost exactly right with a slight bit extra in case of shrinkage."
"I bought these for my husband and son to wear under Icelandic socks while duck hunting."
"These socks keep your feet cool and help prevent blisters."
"I only wear these while skating and they are in rotation with several other pairs of socks. I will purchase more of these when any of the socks in rotation begin falling apart."
