I have had boots that had a severe tread design, but with clay type soils after a few steps the mud builds up so bad that the severe tread design was of no help, so I do like the sole tread design of the Bogs Classics. Two more items for clarification-1) As I talked about fit, I wear these boots with what I call a crew sock not a thick or bulky sock and 2) the boots are "Made in China"."
