The Luci might SEEM brighter because there is really nothing to stop the light from dispersing whereas there is, in essence, a "lampshade" on the other. That compared with the fact that it doesn't last quite as long on a charge is what makes me say I prefer the d.light. It can obviously be compacted much more, which makes it great for backpacks or in the car, if space is at a premium."
