"Ordered this Paragon wall safe for a friend of mine and it seems like a pretty good safe, but there is something you should know about it before you purchase it. What you should know about this safe is that there is not as much space inside the safe as it appears. So given that the safe is about 3.75 inches deep, the space you'll have between the two shelves is only about 1.75 inches in depth by 7.25 inches high by 14 something inches wide. Here are some tips on installing a wall safe: You may want to be sure you have a location to install the safe before you order it. You'll need to cut a hole approximately 14.25 inches wide by 20.5 inches tall (be sure to measure your safe, excluding the front lip)."
"So, no way to get the safe instructions out without opening the door to the safe. But, you can't open the door to the safe unless you use the key, which is conveniently available in the 1/2 of the packaging that is sticking out of the door. 2) Insert one of the provided keys in the visible lock and turn the key, and then turn the large plastic knob to open the safe. 8) To close the safe, simply close the door and turn the large plastic round knob counterclockwise on the front of the safe. The safe will lock. I would have given it 5 stars if they would have taped the above instructions that I created and put in this review on the outside of the safe and made it easily available instead of locking them in the safe with no instructions on how to open the safe."

From time to time it will not read one of my fingers (often after I have done some construction and cut up a finger) but within a few seconds I can get in. I have a large vault and smaller safe - I use those for items I want fire proof or real secure. I also added an IKEA Dioder light (battery powered for kitchen drawers) that will turn on when the safe is opened and turns off when closed."

"They are cheap and short and needs to be replaced if you want this vault to be really secure from burglary (check out my pics to see the screw provided its about 1/2" bite). Depending on where you are mounting it (night stand, computer desk, stud on the wall) the length of the screw you're going to use is going to vary obviously. Mine is currently mounted to the inside of my computer desk using 4 lag screws from Home Depot and one nut/bolt/washer combo (had to drill the hole on the plate myself). The only way a burglar is going to get access to that firearm is by breaking down the computer desk first, then taking the whole safe with him so he can pry it open later at his leisure. Another issue is the thumb screws provided (mounts the vault itself to the base plate), they are small as well and also a weak point."
