"But, the are large jeans and i didnt put the back wheels on so it was unstable. TIP: put all wheels on the bottom, make sure to tighten the connections and you shouldnt have any issues. I've only had to do an extra spin once for a load of towels and pants just so they would dry faster. I use fabric softener on the rinse cycle so my clothes dont dry stiff."
"If you are like me that your kitchen and bathroom faucets are not available to install the provided attachment, you can tap from the shower head instead. 3/4" male to 1/2" female adapter. Amazon link: http://a.co/8vRAZ2K. I attached some pictures which is pretty self explanatory for the install."
"Our apartment doesn't have the room, or the plumbing for a standard clothes washer, so we were delighted to find this compact little unit that could be rolled out when needed, and put back in the closet and out of the way when it's not. You just screw on a base plate, add the caster wheels, stick on the hose and tap connector, and you're ready to go! It has a plate in the bottom of the tub that twists and spins rather than a centre agitator like many machines, so it is much gentler on clothes. Recently I washed a puffy fuzzy bath mat with a rubber backing and found the machine did a great job. Tide Pods are super in this little machine, but liquid and powder cleaning agents also work well. It moved about an inch, and then beeped at me to open the machine and rebalance the load before continuing its cycle. Before buying this washer I looked at a twin tub portable version from another company. I wanted a machine I could put my clothes into and walk away, knowing it was doing all the washing, rinsing and spinning on its own. GREAT FOR YOUR OWN USE OR AS A GIFT TO A NEWLYWED COUPLE OR NEW MOM OR DAD. I highly recommend this portable washer, as it's good value for the price, and fits into our little apartment with ease. They also make good wedding and baby gifts to those like us who have limited space and/or can't hook up full-size appliances. We bought the Haier HLP140E 2-3/5-Cubic-Foot Compact Tumble Vented Dryer to go with this washer and love it too!"
"One secret to using this that I learned is to turn off the water after the wash water has all flowed in; that way, if you want to put in fabric softener, but you don't want to hang out over the machine, it will make a beeping sound when it needs more water for the rinse cycle and will not continue until you turn the water back on! Otherwise, you can time about 15 minutes for the wash cycle, keep the water on, and hope you don't get involved in anything more important."

"You need to watch the water pressure but this soulution is easy, cheap and doesn't require plumbing skills."
"I reviewed it because I wanted to and I love spreading the word about good products that work and make women's lives easier!"
"Also the water hose does not fit into faucet, so it required some engineering for me to make it work."
"So far I have only used it up to the medium wash line, with the strength of the agitator I am afraid that filling it up to the high line might cause the water to spill out from under the lid. But (1) load washed 2 of my leggings size xl, 2 xl womens shirts, mens long johns, 2 boys school pants, 2 uniform shirts, 3 long footed fleece onsies for the baby, 5 t sirt onsies and about 8 pairs of socks... The spin tub is small and you have to split the load up in 2 to spin dry... but the spin dry is fantastic. I use a 50 gallon sterilite storage tub to drain the water into, then dumped it in my bath tub. The largest wash set to the highest water level says it takes 46L ... dude thats 23 - 2L pepsi bottles.. thats a lot of water."
"Our first load was a disaster, the directions are awful and we actually appear to have put more water in than needed because water was leaking out the top sides of the bin. You may be dumping buckets of water down the tub drain like I am but for us it's worth it knowing we are washing our clothing in a machine that isn't 50 years old and only has our stuff in it! Okay, since the directions are awful, I'll give you a quick rundown of what they say to do here: 1) Make sure spin dial is on soft or normal. 2) put in detergent. 3) Fill tub with water. 4) add clothes. 5) Close lid and turn time dial on for however long you want to wash them for. 6) When load is done, turn dial to drain and drain water out of washer. 7) Place clothing in spin dry machine and spin dry them for however long you'd like. 8) Turn dial back to soft/normal. 9) Fill tub in washer again with water (NO detergent). 10) Place clothing from spin dryer back in washing tub w/fresh water. 11) Close lid and turn dial on for however long you want to rinse-wash your clothes. 12) When done, drain. 13) Place clothing in spin dryer and spin dry. This is how I do it: 1) Make sure spin dial is on soft or normal. 2) put in detergent. 3) Fill tub with water. 4) add clothes. 5) Close lid and turn time dial on for however long you want to wash them for. 6) When load is done, turn dial to drain and drain water out of washer. 7) Fill tub in washer again with water (NO detergent, but keep your wet clothing in). 8) Close lid and turn dial on for however long you want to rinse-wash your clothes. 9) When done, drain. 12) Place clothing in spin dryer and spin dry."

"It's so powerful that lightly soiled loads I only wash for about 3 minutes. The water inlet on the upper left side is for filling the wash tub. The water inlet on the upper right side is for rinsing your clothes while they are in the spin dryer. Most people on here seem to run a separate rinse cycle by draining the wash tub then refilling it with water but that's not necessary. Place the washing machine inside a bathtub for easiest use, unless you have a dedicated spot with a water supply and drain for it to go. Put a teaspoon or so (5-10ml) of liquid laundry detergent into the wash tub (left side hatch). Fill the wash tub to the appropriate level for however much you're washing (usually just enough to submerge about 75% of the laundry pile). 4. When wash cycle is complete switch the dial to DRAIN and let it drain then take a few items at a time and drop them into the spin dryer. Close the lid then turn on the water supply to the right side inlet and set the dryer to spinning. The dryer takes a little while to get used to but after 2-3 loads you'll find you can have the whole batch you just washed mostly dry and ready to go on the line, back of a chair, or in a regular drier for a couple of minutes, in well under 5 minutes of work."
"And the spin dryer is incredible, takes out about 90% of the water!!! I now just sit in in the bathtub, much easier to drain and fill that way!!! I have a removable shower head I just put in it to fill...I also bought the Panda portable dryer to use as well!! Lol, after tinkering around for an hr, I realized that the switch on the power strip was off!!!!"
"I have to pay 1.50 for laundry and 1.25 for the dryer in my apartment building and people are always leaving their stuff in there for days and always had to go get quester so I was fed up and turned to amazon of course. I really wanted something just for my workout clothes instead of paying to wash them every other day but it has worked out for everything from duvet cover, sheets, towels, everything!! It did take me a few spinner drys to figure out that the white plastic circle goes ON TOP of the clothes haha I guess that's what I get for not reading directions."
"I followed another gentleman's post and made a water connection via sch 40 PVC and valves and its like having a regular washing machine minus the automation. Update: 10 days of using, multiple cycles, I recommend a cycle of warm water and bleach to sanitize and kill odors, otherwise it has still been a great product."

"It's _different_ from regular washing/drying, you have to learn how to use it (takes maybe a week's worth of laundry to start figuring how to get the best out of it), and your circumstances may be different from mine and you might not love it, depending. If the clothes aren't coming out dry enough (as some reviewers claim), you're probably either packing the machine too full, or haven't figured out which setting makes them dry enough for you, or are thinking about the one heavy piece in a load of light stuff, or are expecting bone-dry. I chalk up the slight moisture to the better fabric care this washer/dryer provides - I think it's part of the reason my clothes are less wrinkled. Maybe if I lived in an area with very high humidity all the time, or had no air conditioning, this would be an issue, but it's not for me. Don't overfill (there's plenty of room in the drum, but you can't pack it tight and expect dry clothes at the end). 2. For me, the "long" times aren't considerably longer than a wash and a dry, and I don't have to handle wet clothes in-between. There's a lint filter in the wastewater line you have to empty about monthly, or when the machine tells you to. - Uses less electricity than my old top-loader and traditional dryer, but provides better fabric care, MUCH less hassle, MUCH more convenience. It's plenty big (capacity-wise), but you can't have two loads working, one in a washer and one in a dryer simultaneously. They stay on for 4 minutes, and I'd like 8, or at least the ability to turn 'em back on without powering the whole machine off-then-on while I'm unloading clothes. We put ours in a catch-tray - a plastic tray that's designed to help keep any leaking malfunctions from ruining your floor. A proper catch tray has a drain line attached (ours doesn't - lack of planning ahead). We also were able to get a "flat" catch tray online, that slides under the machine before you raise the sides and close the corners. Great purchase, and the difference in power usage will probably pay off the extra cost over just a few years. are looking at the "5:50" that comes up when you initiate a dry-only cycle, then not checking to see how long the machine actually runs. It's an adaptive cycle which reduces time by sensing the humidity of the interior of the drum. He arrived, took about 2 minutes to look at the machine, realized the problem, but didn't have the parts to fix it. I still am concerned that important parts might not be in stock when we need them; this repair provided a pain-free demonstration of that situation. ============ An update a little past 12 months in: After a little more than a year, the washer is still going great, and the love for it has not diminished here. For a post-installation install of pedestal, I recommend you get lifting straps (sold under many names; one that springs to mind is "forearm forklift") and a strong friend to lift, and another friend to position the pedestal under the machine. I cleaned the machine's tub out the best I could, and paid special attention to all the nooks and crannies around the door gasket (lots of pulp in there), and I ran a tub-clean cycle, while I shook envelope bits and paper pulp off of the couch cover over the deck in back of the house. I pulled the filter drain hose and tried to drain into a bucket, then pulled the filter, which turned into a little flood: recommend you have several buckets and a friend handy when handling this kind of problem. I chanced a load of laundry (grey to match the remaining pulp), and made it through fine. A number of loads later, the machine is still going strong, appears to have shaken off the envelope episode like a champ, and without a service call. I've been asked whether the machine makes the house more humid, and kind of fumbled for a response (generally, no, it doesn't). Here's a data point from an experiment: I borrowed a hygrometer (an Oasis musical instrument hygrometer, which helps musicians care for their wood instruments by measuring humidity and temperature and recording minimums and maximums - you can buy one on Amazon). After about five minutes of settling time in our kitchen (a good proxy for the rest of the house), no laundry run that day, humidity read 53%. I moved the unit into the laundry room/pantry (about 9.5' x 11', door open, also a freezer in the room) and let it settle there for a few minutes while I loaded the washer. I set a four hour delay and ran the laundry (mid-size load of jeans) overnight. I remain convinced that people who are having disastrous humidity or wet clothes problems are suffering from the reported installation issue where the drain pipe is too tall for the machine to effectively drain water. What I imagine happened is that there was a power-cut while we were gone, and Child Lock comes on as some kind of safety feature or something."
"Before purchasing, I knew this appliance would take longer than a traditional dryer, but 5 hours was ridiculous. As many other reviews have noted, the drain’s position relative to the appliance is critical. This machine uses cold water to dry the clothes – essentially cool tap water chills some pipes that act as a condenser to capture humidity from the hot air circulating through the clothing (like a dehumidifier). For some reason the pump is unable to move the water vertically to a wall drain (about 3 1/2ft above the floor) during dry cycle. Instead of pumping up into the wall, the water probably backflows into the machine and keeps the clothes wet, increasing humidity and lengthening dry time. For other loads, we put the drain hose into a 5 gallon bucket on the floor."
"I've read the reviews about how long it takes and how clothes don't come out dry and discovered that these are not issues with the washer as much as issues with owners not using it properly. On the time issue the machine weighs your loads and adjust the time to wash and dry based on that so if you overstuff the washer the time increases."

"They only say how to mount the dryer to the wall (I guess that's an option), but they don't explain how the vent is supposed to work. It's a bit pricier than I would've liked, leading to the minus 1-star, but it's a good product that has met my needs and I'm glad I made the splurge."
"Clothes do take longer to dry being its half the power of a standard 220v dryer. But a longer dry time sure beats going to a laundromat or my building's gross laundry facility down in a dungeness setting in the basement. This dryer is perfect if you live in an apartment with no special venting or electric. I prefer this washer over any other portable washer because it replicates the old school agitator found in the middle of the washer which moves and thoroughly washes the clothes. Being Pandas controls are on the bottom which is perfect if mount on a wall or have a stand. But i dont have dryer stand kind of money so i improvised. Go to ikea and purchase the "Lack" side table it costs $9.99 and raises the dryer off the floor enough to comfortably get clothes out dryer and reach controls with out crawling on the floor."
"It takes a long time but i love my dryer it makes my house smell so good."
"I searched for quite a few dryers similar to this and they are at least 150 dollars more than this one, the Avaya dryer is very similar to this dryer and many of the reviews stated there was a loud screeching noise when they used their dryer, I have not had this problem with the Panda dryer when it is loaded properly, if you overload it, you will get a high pitched noise. The only downside to this review is i havent received my electric bill yet to determine how much this will cost me, but other reviews for the Avaya dryer said it didnt raise it too much, so we will see."
"I had a full sized 110V dryer years ago and even though it takes longer to dry the clothes, I loved it because it is so much easier on the clothes."
"Dries Clothes pretty Fast Hopefully it will last me awhile and it looks very nice."

"I mostly use the Heavy Duty/Perm Press cycle on Normal and my wash is clean and done in a half hour. There are three timer positions within that cycle which effect how long the wash agitation lasts...Heavy, Normal, Light. On Heavy the wash agitation is around 15 minutes. Using that as a reference the complete cycle time (start to finish) on Heavy is around 37 minutes, Normal is around 31 minutes, Light is around 28 minutes....your times may vary depending on your water pressure and height of tub fill."
"Even when I rented, I had an the old-style agitator washing machine I dragged from apartment to apartment so when I went to buy a new one, I was a little bit unsure because the new HE styles always came with groans and complaints that clothes were never clean and that the machines felt cheap. He said he would be GLAD to sell me the new machine I had selected, but he just wanted to *show* me the Speed Queen. Being in a laundromat gave it a weird connotation, but honestly -- those machines are in absolutely CONSTANT use and this company is able to create a machine that can deal with it, and furthermore, make it their specialty since residential sales are clearly not their strength. I could not find a single place on the international interwebs that said they were a "bad buy". Most of the reviews on the newest designs the big guys were making were negative. That their electronic components were unreliable and often rendered the machine useless when they failed prematurely. It's going to cost you *more* than an entry level HE machine, which is enough to scare most people off. It looks like something you could buy on Craigslist for $50, why should you spend [enter list price here] on it? My friends and coworkers still whine about their HE machines giving out, breaking down, requiring replacement every 5 years. Their white socks look like they ditched shoes for a day and wandered a swamp. I've only had this machine for 6 months, but I know I won't be replacing it in 5 years. My appliance dealer, though, gave me *in writing* that everything is covered for 10 years... except the transmission. Yeah, this washing machine smells like America's heartland... because that's where it came from. I'm giving this Speed Queen a FIVE STAR review because it's unafraid to be unoriginal. It has ONE JOB, cleaning your clothes, your sheets, your curtains, your small areas rugs like it's 1990... and it actually freaking does it right the first time."
"SPEEDQUEEN 432. PROS: HOT' WATER: straight out of the tap and is not diluted by cold water as many new machines today. QUICK 'CYCLE: A Heavy duty hot water cycle is just 30 minutes. ADD' WATER 'FEATURE : Becaue the government has placed water restrictions on all washers the water does not go all the way up to the top. Water will not automatically let out after seven minutes as most new machines do. COMMERCIAL MACHINE: heavy duty commercial quality washer, same as the laundromats use. NO 'COMPUTER: No lid lock, no computer to malfunction, simple rotary dial. CLEAN 'CLOTHES: Gets clothes really clean, and if you have grass or dirt it washes right out of the machine unlike some new machines. It has no computer, no lid lock, no automatic release of water if you try to soak the clothes in the manner prescribed by SpeedQueen. No 2 -3 hour wash cycle with the hot water as in the new style machines. Regular hot water cycle is still only 30 minutes!! 'the Speed Queen is only machine on the market where you can still get hot water out of your tap without it being diluted with cold due to the new government regulations). Many machines get great reviews in Consumers Reports but then the actual reviewers out in the real world say the machines fail due to computer errors, or spins holes into their clothes, or in spite of all precautions their clothes smell like mold. There are many real world reviews that say the water temperature for a hot water wash was really 60 degrees in the winter. If you have allergies and need a hot water cycle then do lots of research and get a certifed NSF'allergen cycle. People sticking a thermometer in the water are getting 60 degrees for a hot water wash. Computer errors abound this year in the land of washers. At this point there are too many problems with the washers this year so I went with the Speed Queen as it has no computer, a hot wash in just 30 minutes and my clothes will not smell like mold. I still LOVE this machine."

Best Dishwashers

SPT Countertop Dishwasher, White
Enter your model number to make sure this fits.
Reviews
"Like most people, I prefer a dishwasher partly because doing dishes is a chore and partly because a dishwasher just gets the dishes cleaner than you ever will doing them by hand. So, this is accurate and as complete as I can be... UNIT MEASUREMENTS. The unit as it measures in my home: 17.25 (H) X 21.5 (W) X 19.75 (D). So as you decide where you're going to put it, if you're using a portable rack or other device, make sure it can hold at least 100 lbs - 50 for the unit, plus 8 or 9 lbs for the water, plus the weight of your dishes (another 8-10 lbs) - total about 70 lbs when full and in use, plus some cushion just to be safe. I'm hoping that will loosen up just a little as time goes on because right now I have to put downward pressure on top of the unit in order to open the door - I've got my unit sitting on a thin-legged metal rack (see pics) and so the rack wobbles a bit if I pull hard without the downward support to hold the rack still. It takes as long as a full sized dishwasher to clean the dishes. There are several cycles: Heavy/Pots & Pans (100 minutes). Normal (85 minutes). Light (75 minutes). Glass (70 minutes). Speed (45 minutes). and Pre-wash/soak (10 minutes). The Heavy cycle has a double wash cycle. The Heavy, Normal, Light and Glass cycles all include a heated dry cycle. The other major difference in the cycles is the temperature of the wash/rinse water: Heavy and Normal having the highest (wash 131*F and rinse 149*F). The Speed has the lowest temperatures (wash 122*F and rinse 131*F). I made sure the water was at its hottest before turning off the tap to connect the hose and turning it back on. The dishwasher will heat the water to the correct temperature for the option you've chosen, but clearly starting with already hot water will shorten the time to heat the water. So, starting with very hot tap water, the Normal wash cycle from the moment I pressed the start button to the moment the end-of-cycle beep happened was 87 minutes. So using cold water is an option, but it will add a little more than 30 minutes to the process because the unit needs to first heat the water in order to properly wash the dishes. DRY DISHES. The Normal cycle that I'm using includes dry time. I've made a point to be standing at the dishwasher when the end-of-cycle beep sounds so that I could see if the dishes are in fact dry. The ceramic dishes (plates, bowls), metal dog food bowls, plastic cups and silverware are all dry to the touch (and baked hot). Letting the dishes sit in the rack, with the door open for 20-30 minutes and all dishes are completely dry and cool enough to put away. NOISE. The sound of the unit in cycle (the swish of your dishes being cleaned) is very quiet. It sounds like someone just turned on your tap to full - so if you have a metal sink, it's water hitting metal. I connected the hoses to the back of the unit as directed. You can leave the faucet on all night if you start the dishwasher at bedtime as you will not be using/running water all night due to the pressurized hose. Also, be sure to PRESS THE RED BUTTON and wait for the water to drain before disconnecting the hose from the faucet. Once disconnected, you'll want to hold the end down and the length of the hose up to drain the last of the water that's in there before tucking the hose into its storage position - this is simply to avoid drips. Also, the unit and the hoses smell like new appliance."
"My dislike of doing dishes turned most of the counter space of my small Manhattan kitchen into physics-defying stacks of procrastination. This countertop dishwasher takes up about 60% of usable counter space in my apartment, a sacrifice I'm willing to make but for city dwellers, definitely measure it out. My loaner husband no longer lives next door to me so I was apprehensive about installing the faucet adaptor myself, turns out it was a cinch. Some of the typos and wording are good for a laugh and its focus is on how to load a hypothetically uniform set of dishes no one actually owns. The reason I like the Cascade Complete Gel Packs is it's got everything in it, including the rinse agent that keeps your glasses from streaking. I mean, I wouldn't go on vacation without turning off the faucet but you don't have to obsess that there's going to be some water pressure build-up that's going to shoot your shiny new countertop dishwasher into space if you're absorbed in another activity. A few times I rinsed a couple of dishes again, they were super shiny so I was suspicious maybe the Cascade Gel Pack left some residue, so basically I ran them under water again because they looked too clean, starting to worry that I have trust issues. I've received mutilated deliveries from other companies with everything from footprints on top of the box to holes where the fork lift went through it. It's good to know that it's not going to spring a leak any time in the near future but I have to figure out some hook system to make them less obtrusive."

GE PS950SFSS 30" 6.6 cu. ft. Capacity Slide-In Double Oven Electric Range In Stainless Steel
Profile 30" Stainless Steel Electric Slide-In Smoothtop Double Oven Range - Convection. Pots And Pans Fit Perfectly On The Flexible Heating Element.

"I have a prior GE Profile range that had the smoothtop as well as a convection oven and a meat probe. FRONT CONTROLS. Having always had a stove that had controls in the back and having seen the prior owner of my house had a range with controls in front, I know that this is what I wanted. Is it worth the nearly extra $900 this stove costs more than the back control one. I noted this unit has a meat probe and the back control one did not. Only when I laid over the stove to replace the vent filter in the microwave above did I get a reaction from the stove and even then it was looking for me to put in a temperature for the bottom oven. I will use it It takes something to get used to pressing a button to get to a number versus turning a knob. Given this is a slide in range and my prior was a stand alone, the smooth top is above and extending over my counters. Also my counters were not at 36 inches, so there is about a ⅜-½" gap under the smooth top over the counter top. This oven is not a convection, nor does it have a probe in it. BOTTOM OVEN. This oven has only a visible top heat element and a hidden lower one, and a convection fan. My prior convection range (of 17 years) had convection roast and bake as well as a probe, so I had a lot of experience with that one. SHIPPING. We purchased the unit through Home Care Company (as the price was great) and they used independent truckers to ship the item. I noted that the oven vent is in the back top, where there is a lip, versus under the controls in a back control range. I had a smooth top before, but the heat range was different."
"to the double ovens which are both self-cleaning; the convection oven; huge glass windows to see in the ovens; expandable burners; warming burner; intuitive controls. I thought I would miss an oven drawer."
"In my case it would make more sense to make the top one conventional since that is the one that most people may be using majority of the time. The overhanging glass on the sides looked amazing until I pushed the stove into place and realized that there is metal flashing under the glass on the sides. Just wiped the control panel and it would have been a good day if it stopped there.... Just in case I decided to check for spill under the stove and that's when I discovered where all my coffee went. Both oven doors are double wall glass with heat vents on top of the doors and all my coffee leaked from the top down through the vents inside both doors. So to my experience the pictured product is a great looking stove, but at this point I wish I would have chosen proper design and functionality over looks. Also only the oven buttons (description of the buttons in my case) light up when pushed and you can hardly see that during the day."
"We boiled the water over while cooking pasta and it spilled water on top of the range. Apparently there is no seal to prevent water on top of the range from seeping into the range logic bard below."
"Have had this 14 months and the upper glass oven door shattered in to hundreds of pieces!"

"I have three photos here: Photo 1 - the boxes: Left - from Appliance Cove, Right - from Home Depot. Photo 2 - the filter: From left to right: from Amazon, from Appliance Cove, from Home Depot. Photo 3 - the filter again: From left to right: from Amazon, from Appliance Cove, from Home Depot."
"Anyhow, the mwf filter I got with amazon prime arived today (sunday) and the water tastes great again after running a couple gallons through it."
"After installing a new filter the flow was back to normal. I cannot say if it actually filters anything meaningful (chlorine, bacteria, etc), as I do not have the willingness or ability to test, but I can say it certainly does filter particulate as evident by clear water coming out of the tap while all my faucets produced a brown soup."
"After ten days, I could no long tolerate the taste and rushed to a local Lowe's. The one I bought in Lowe's was in a printed box, as shown in the attached photo. If you receive a "genuine" GE MWF filter in a plain white box, dude, you may be in the same boat with me."
"Googling the issue with this filter you'll see it's really common on many other sites. I waited until my 2nd filter to now leave a review here (deleted my old review since I couldn't figure out how to add image while updating an old review). This is consistent with an old hack for the filter (that worked for me) of cutting out a plastic "washer" that assisted in pushing in the pointed button where the filter connects to. You can see this "pointed button" when you take out the filter and look at the filter head."

"Just the right side for extra freezer space for my husband and me."
"Does the job and has a temperature control."
"Smaller than I expected when it arrived, but still perfect for what I needed it for."
"Works well."
"It did seem a little larger then the dimensions mentioned in the advertising however, this wasn't any real problem for me as I was easily able to accommodate it. It's easy to close the door within an inch or two of the jamb, but it doesn't really "snap" shut like other appliances do. It is so much easier to use then my new Samsung bottom freezer in which things are always a piled in jumbled mess."
"Perfect size for my small house."
"Great freezer, an upgrade from my smaller 3.8 foot, lots of room and nice compartments for storage of different things."
"The refrigerator arrived undamaged and works well, but the door is mounted crooked."

Best Wine Cellars

Avanti 12 Bottle Thermoelectric Counter Top Wine Cooler - Model EWC1201
Avanti EWC1201 Twelve Bottle Counter Top Wine Cooler. Enter your model number to make sure this fits.
Reviews
"As this happened, the wine cooler could only achieve/maintain about 10 degrees Fahrenheit below room temperature, in contrast to the 17-18 degrees Fahrenheit below room temperature it could achieve when new. When fixing it, I used the following components: a) Fan - I replaced the original 90 mm fan with a 140 mm fan that pushes 60 CFM and draws 0.14A, which is about the same amp draw as the original fan. The fan runs at top speed (1000 rpm) during cooling and cannot be heard - much quieter than the original fan. It has been two years since I fixed it; the wine cooler now achieves and hold about 20 degrees Fahrenheit below ambient temperature. If I set the cooler to 50F, then the Peltier and fan cycle on & off. I've attached three photos to this review showing what the modified back of the fixed cooler looks like, the difference between ambient and interior temperature, and the difference between the heat-sink temperature and the interior temperature."
"Avanti makes very good products, nonetheless - when I plugged it in, I was unable to change any of the parameters (temp, wine type) on the display. Finally figured that out; as you open bottles and reseal with your vacu-vin or what have you, it doesn't make sense to lay them back down, they're not going to "breathe" through those seals so, stand 'em up and they'll be ready when you are for your next glass! July 12, 2016 Update - As I passed the cooler today, I noticed that the temperature displayed was 58 degrees (set on 55,) no fans running and no action from the buttons."
"Had the LED been green or red, it would have been better, but I will still give it five stars because the controls require unlocking before use, making it hard for my toddler to set the temperature."
"My wife and I received this item as a wedding gift and, although we are generally satisfied with some aspects of the cooler (appearance, capacity and size, and convenience) the unit itself does not maintain a stable temperature on its own (a "must have" for delicate wines and the reason we wanted a wine fridge in the first place)."

Best Furnace Filters

Filtrete Clean Living Basic Dust AC Furnace Air Filter, MPR 300, 16 x 25 x 1-Inches, 6-Pack

Reviews
"Keeps the dust down in the house, clears most the germs from having the windows shut all winter, and is easier on the furnace."
"The filters I typically buy have very uniform pleats and hold their shape; they have more strength than these."
"To my dismay, I noticed that the new filter had several thin spots in it, not unlike the less expensive fiber filters I prefer not to use. Well, not only was the newer one noticeably thinner, there were 3 fewer pleats in the filter."
"Higher rated filters will only reduce the efficiency of your heating and A/C systems and end up costing you more for the filters and in utility costs. A tip I was taught to improve your filter's MPR rating without impacting air flow is to give the filter a quick spray with Pam (or similar) each time you replace the filter. As much as I want to switch brands entirely, I am giving 3M's 600 MPR filters a chance first (Filtrete Clean Living Dust Reduction Filters, 600 MPR, 20 x 25 x 1, 6-Pack). 3M claims they provide better filtration AND are more efficient at allowing air through then the 300 MPR filter, which makes very little sense, but, OK. At first glance they seem a lot like the 300 MPR filters used to be before the quality went downhill. UPDATE 4: It's January 2016 and I've made the switch to the comparable Nordic Pure product (Nordic Pure 16x25x1M8-6 MERV 8 Pleated AC Furnace Air Filter, 16x25x1, Box of 6)."
"Do not buy these, they are not safe."
"As soon as the fan come on, the filter came loose from the cardboard frame and a three inch gap appeared on one side."
"The current design uses folding that is triangular in cross section (around the outer perimeter of the filter), and relies on the stiffness of the triangle to retain shape. The old design had a square/rectangular cross section (the outer perimeter of the filter), and was much much stiffer."

Aprilaire 413 Filter Single Pack for Air Purifier Models 1410, 1610, 2410, 3410, 4400, Space-Gard 2400
This is the MERV 13 replacement filter for the Model 4400, 3310 and 2410 Aprilaire Air Cleaners. The filter is the heart of the air cleaner and needs to be changed once a year or when your Air Cleaner Control indicates it is time to change the filter. Genuine Aprilaire Air Filter Replacement.
Reviews
"So far, I've been pleased with the time that I get relative to the old pleated / high MERV rating filters I used in the old furnace. We also have one system with one poorly located return in a long constricted hallway that tends to collect dust / pet hair. I would get about 2 months out of that. 2) It's easy to install, and I've never seen any issues with the glue separating and causing the filter to drop. So, either we have ductwork cleaning needs or we suck (pun intended) at vacuuming up pet hair and dusting. No, you will NOT get the life out of it you expected unless your home is cleaned by Martha Stewart and/or you have an efficiently engineered HVAC return."
"I have had an Aprilaire filter on my furnace unit since 2011."
"The replacement filter "Aprilaire Model No."
"I have 2 pets that leave hair, fuzz balls and include household smells."
"These filters are always expensive, but they work great and are easy to install in the media filter."
"Bought this as a replacement for ones purchased last year."
"MUCH easier to replace since I did the upgrade from the original version (20 years old installation)."
"Great price for these filters."

"I love having ice when I want it."
"I always have ice on hand which is so beneficial for my active little family and the constant bumps and bruises!"
"Bought this for my children's birthday parties."
"I noticed that the "flap" that pushes the ice into the basket wasn't pushing the ice far enough into the basket and the ice was getting stuck; so, the sensors would read it as being full. I was ending up with a half basket of ice with the last pieces of ice stuck at the top where the sensors are."

Broan 413004 ADA Capable Non-Ducted Under-Cabinet Range Hood, 30-Inch, Stainless Steel
Enter your model number to make sure this fits. Non-ducted filter - effective non-ducted filtration system removes smoke and odors.
Reviews
"It prevents the steam from escaping all over the kitchen and does a decent job of filtering out odors, however, not as well as a fan that is vented externally but that is to be expected."
"No it doesn’t suck in a lot of air, but it is a ductless vent, so it won’t operate like one that has a duct system."
"Love it!"
"This is a replacement for the old hood that came with our house."
"Not the most top notch, but for the money this hood works great."
"I would recommend this hood to anyone looking for a low cost replacement for a basic ductless range hood."
"I purchased this hood to replace an existing one also made by Broan in a rehab job that I was working on, and was pleasantly surprised by it, though not overwhelmed."
"This exhaust fan is identical to the one I had last house."
