"If I had just plugged this in without any prior knowledge, I might have assumed the table was just really, really weak (which for the price is a plausible possibility, yet you CAN hit the puck around successfully) or I would have returned the thing altogether. Right away, either your puck is doing its proper little sliding "float"--the familiar thing every air hockey table ought to do when you plunk your quarters into it--but also if you put your hand underneath where the fan's motor is, if you feel a LOT of air hitting your hand, well, that's the air that is supposed to be coming up through the little holes on the table. But then I thought, "Why not just pop that motor off and see if I can turn the fan around?" This was easy: four screws, pop the fan guard off, turn the motor around to face the opposite way, put the guard on the other side, then screw those four screws back in. Five minute fix. Someone dropped the ball (the puck?). Clearly another customer had returned this table and someone on the other end--Amazon or whoever else--didn't check it or fix anything. And secondarily, four screws that were supposed to have holes for them did not have the holes for them on the table. Now, once I did my fixes, I must say, it IS a cool table."

"The forecast for Tuesday was blizzard conditions and heavy snow, and I live up in the hills, so I called CEVA to see if I could pick up the package at their distribution center on Friday afternoon. They were easy to deal with, and very accommodating, so I suspect that the issues described in other CEVA shipping reviews are likely with the local contract carriers they use for the final delivery. I was barely able to fit the pallet containing the table and benches, loaded by a fork lift provided by CEVA, into the bed of a full size Toyota Tundra with the tailgate down. I would guess that at least 80lbs of the total shipping weight is from the packaging, which includes a wood pallet, triple layer boxes, and additional reinforcement in the form of particle board panels and corner protection. I dinged it one star only because plastic ball pockets, cues, and ping pong paddles are so ridiculously cheesy and cheap."

Playability: In researching, I saw one person comment that the steel arms (vs fiberglass which Carrom and some other makers use) were heavier and slowed down play. Having called a few sellers, I am told that the gearing on the Shelti's is of a higher quality than on Carrom's and is less subject to breaking/shearing, though I can't verify that. My 8 year old son told me there is a dead spot near the goalie for the black team toward the edge of the play surface. I haven't had that happen to me, but if true, it is annoying for a table of this price, with the only consolation being that the hinge makes accessing the play surface extremely easy. I also like that is on the side of the table as opposed to the top of the dome so that sight lines remain clear and there aren't wires sticking out."
"I was going to buy a Carrom table but as others here have said, I've heard they have a lot of problems with rods breaking, things not working right etc. I've had mine for a couple years now and it works beautifully. The low-dome profile is really cool looking and I actually prefer it to the high arch dome. I do sometimes use a Carrom puck (the newer ones with beveled edges) with this table. I would recommend buying furniture-rollers and placing them under the table so you can roll it around with ease. I don't have a ton of room, and seeing as how you need a wide space to play with this table, the rollers come in very handy! I customized my set with 2 NHL teams and it makes the game so much more fun!"
