"Actually, they corrected a long-standing flaw in the original sound chip, but since programmers had been exploiting that flaw, the corrected chip is considered to be worse than the original. As for the C64 itself, back in the early to mid 1980's, the Commodore 64 was THE computer to own. The Atari 8-bit computers were technically better in the graphics department, although hardly any games ever took advantage of that, and the Atari 8-bit line only had a fraction of the support that the C64 had. Arcade ports, racing games, sports games, puzzle games, adventure games, action games... You name it, and the C64 had it."
