After some experimentation, I found that one end is a catch cap and you can just apply pressure to it and it will break loss. You have to remove some of the screws from the front of the inner fender, it will give you a little working space."
"I contacted Rugged Ridge customer support and after several days of going back and forth with emails and proof that I bought this from Amazon with pictures they sent me 2 new safety catches.. For anyone reading this, to reduce the risk of your safety catches breaking, I took my small butane torch and heated the plastic catch in a vise, then bent them down about 1/16", then trimmed the end back with a grinder."

"I found out after I purchased these latches that they reportedly did not work on the power dome hood that comes on the 2013 and 2014 X models. I'll admit they are a bit tight and the latches do come close to rubbing against the hood once latched closed. I'm happy and they look vicious on the power dome hood."
