When talking with them on the phone, the manufacturer admitted that this type of torque wrench has a design flaw which makes it easy to inadvertently break the tool: The instructions are clear that the tool must be stored at it's lowest setting. But if you loosen the tool to just BELOW it's lowest setting, (which the design of the tool makes far too easy to do), it is permanently damaged."
