"The fact is that a 50mm lens on a full frame camera and the same lens on a crop sensor camera do not shoot the same way. Pros: - Feels well built. - Comes packaged with carrying case, good cap, bayonet style lens hood. - Can fit more in the frame. - Fast. - Captures crisp images with lots of detail. - Great in low light, maybe even better than the now older 50mm 1.8D (which by the way does not autofocus unless you have a camera with a focus motor built in). - If I had a camera that did not have a focus motor built in, no problem, this lens has a focus motor built into it. - Focusing is SILENT - unlike the 50mm 1.8D, which hunts for focus and is noisy as hell. - Manual focus override: a switch on the side of the lens allows you to either manually focus the lens, or to allow for M/A, manual and autofocus. That said, I may use this lens more as a street photo / on the go / all around lens and keep the 50mm 1.8D for portrait work or product shots exclusively. - There is some barrel distortion with this lens (which is when there is slight curve to the image from the center point to all edges) the effect is very slight and can very easily be corrected in photo editing software. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. The shots are to show how much can fit in the frame using the 50mm lens (on a cropped sensor camera) in comparison to this 35mm 1.8G. I love the 50mm lens, I really do, but I needed more versatility and this 35mm lens gives me just that, the freedom to have a quasi-portrait lens as well as a great, fast, and sharp all around shooter."
"I've had the camera for almost a year and have been disappointed my the photos I was taking (been using the lens kit that came with my camera). Before I got this lens I had essentially stopped using my DSLR because the lens kit was so slow that I was always miss his smile."
"came brand spanking new great condition, box was safe and secure."
"Overall I think this is a great first lens after a kit lens."

"HIGHLIGHTS: excellent image quality, compact form factor and affordable pricing, but with few concessions in build and AF performance. CONSTRUCTION: Slightly smaller and heavier than the prior model, EF 50 1.8 II, aka nifty-fifty, but with significantly better build quality. Improvements include metal mount, sturdier barrel and AF/MF switch, larger focus ring, grippy matte finish and stepping motor (STM). Like USM lenses, it has Full-Time Manual (FTM), allowing AF override without flipping a switch: simply turn the MF ring. FINAL BLURB: The natural perspective and fast aperture make the EF 50 1.8 STM ideal for low light, travel and street photography with a full frame camera (6D). Canon got everything right with this redesign: accurate and snappy AF, sturdy build and, most significantly, vivid and sharp images wide open."
"Not only that, but it’s now also full time focus which means no more breaking the lens when you forget to take it out of Autofocus. And paired up with a crop sensor body like the Canon 70d, you can really get some nice close up shots with lens before investing in a dedicated macro solution. BOKEH: Now even though the nifty fifty was a cheap lens, it still produced some fantastic images with a very shallow depth of field. On the new 50 stm this has now been upgraded to 7 rounded aperture blade and I’ve found that it produces some lovely bokeh. Now to me it’s not a huge deal because I didn’t mind the old 50’s bokeh shapes, but I guess it is a nice upgrade. AUTOFOCUS: Of course one of the biggest new changes to this lens is the inclusion of an STM or stepping motor. The bokeh looks fantastic, chromatic aberation has been greatly reduced compared to the old version, and vignetting if almost no existent."
"I just ordered this lens and I tried it out right away!!"
"I absolutely HATE the fact that this lens is so good for the price. This is now my go to lens for Bokeh (blurry) shots, portraits, & landscapes."
"I highly recommend you purchase this lens for new photographers in your life or for one that doesn't have this lens."
"Gives a creamy blurred background as I wanted and makes photos look like I'm actually good at photography, despite me doing everything on auto."

"A must have lens!!"
"Kids, animals, bugs, flowers, wildlife - the photos are beautiful, the depth of field is still dramatic enough to assist with making your photo's subject stand out clearly against the fore/background and the lens still lets in enough light to take crisp, low-noise photos in low-light environments. That's the only real "con" with this lens - which you know you're getting if you know what a 50mm lens is - it is very difficult to get complete shots indoors. This is not the lens you want if you're taking photos at a party or taking a lot of family photos indoors."
"My sister in law has a canon and a canon lens with great shallow depth of field (something I can do in Adobe but it is time consuming and not as natural looking). She let me use her Canon t2i camera when we were in the hospital, and that's why I got my camera. When I realized I couldn't get my much more expensive t6i camera to do what hers did, I realized I needed a better lens than the kit lenses I had. I don't know what that means, but I know it was how to get that artsy look I wanted for my daughter. So I got this lens."
"I couldn't justify the cost of the L series (I didn't need weather seals and I don't throw my lenses around enough to worry about the better build quality) and so far I can't imagine the L would have brought another grand worth of performance to the table."

"I have only used this camera on a Nikon D5100 so I don't know how good the autofocus is on it (The D5100 cant autofocus this lens because there's no autofocus on the camera body."
"Is more cheap and have superior image, good sharpness, good Bokeh. Is difficult you use it on f/1.8 with people, in most cases I use on f/2.8 or above to take portraits. I did use on weekend on a wedding and Senior Session and this is a extraordinary machine to take portraits."

Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS
E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS Power Zoom Lens The first Sony G Lens created specifically for E-mount cameras is true to its heritage, achieving outstanding resolution and contrast throughout the zoom range thanks to an advanced optical design incorporating two ED glass elements and three aspherical elements. Aspherical lens elements Aspherical lens design dramatically reduces spherical aberration while also reducing lens size and weight. Specially shaped “aspherical” elements near the diaphragm restore alignment of light rays at the image plane, maintaining high sharpness and contrast even at maximum aperture and can also be used at other points in the optical path to reduce distortion. Well-designed aspherical elements can reduce the total number of elements required in the lens, thus reducing overall size and weight. Lens-based optical image stabilization Gyro sensors built into the lens detect even the slightest movement, and the stabilization lens is precisely shifted to counteract any image blur that might occur. True to its high-end G Lens heritage, the SELP18105G lens features two ED glass elements and three aspherical elements for high resolution and contrast throughout the entire zoom range. Minimum Focus Distance : 1.48 (Wide)-3.12 ft (Tele), Maximum Magnification ratio : 0.11x, Focal Length : 18-105 mm.

"This lens does NOT beat every other lens in every single focal range and aperture. SHOT SETTINGS: ISO100, Manual Focus, Focal length: 18/19mm, Noise Reduction: OFF, SteadyShot: OFF. RESULTS: The SELP18105G at least matches the Sigma at f4.0. It blows the SELP1650 out of the water (Just check the shots and you'll see why). THOUGHTS: If a zoom lens can zoom 87mm and still hold its own (and in some cases win) against a well regarded prime lens, then why buy prime? TIPS: I checked this lens at every focal length with every F-stop, and it is SHARPEST at F5.0-F5.6 (depending on focal length). If you own this lens, set it to aperture priority F5.0 and you should get the sharpest image this lens can produce at the given focal length."
"Sold all my gear and went SONY mirrorless with a6000.This lens is very sharp edge to edge, has color reproduction and detail comparable to a Canon L lens. At F2.8 this lens would have probably cost twice as much and likely be larger too."
"For $600, the lens has f-4 max aperture, standard OSS optical stabilization, 6x zoom (27-157mm 35mm equivalent), internal focusing (lens length remains constant for easier handling), power zoom (smoother focusing for videos and can be controlled by the free PlayMemories app), and good weight of 15.1oz (< 1 lb). This lens does not have internal focusing or power zoom, but does have a relatively better stabilization that Sony dubbed Active OSS. SEL18200le: This lens has the same featues as the SEL18200 lens, but costs $100 less because it only has the regular OSS, not the Active OSS. SELP18200: This lens is like combining the SELP18105 and SEL18200 lenses because it has the internal focusing and power zoom (indicated by the "P" in the model #), while providing 200mm zoom and Active OSS."
"I think part of the problem is that I mainly shoot with my Zeiss 55mm 1.8 and that is one of the sharpest lenses I've ever owned."
