The second compartment is not as deep or wide as the other pockets but goes down the whole length of the backpack. The rear compartment has a padded area for the laptop, a shallow pocket and another huge area that's as big as the 3rd compartment. The front compartment is padded, the handle is padded, the shoulder straps are very well padded and the areas that will be pressing against your shoulder blades and lower back are thickly padded, too."

"It held all my tools I needed: multi-tool, screwdriver, crimps, diag-cutters, adapters, notepads, pens, markers, cables, 17" laptop and charger, iPad Air, work gloves, flashlight, spare parts, etc. Lately I have been traveling with this bag on commercial flights as checked luggage, maybe twic, since I carry so many tools for my work. In my experience, manufacturers skimp on the zipper quality, causing it to easily crack or completely break if you try to pry at it with needle-nosed pliers or screwdriver."

"I don't mean that the zipper handle unzipped itself, I mean that the closed zipper came apart in the middle, and because it was on my back & loaded with a laptop, the laptop half came crashing down hitting me in the back of the leg. But if the zipper won't stay closed, I'll be returning it shortly. I contacted Swiss Gear and they informed me that "Your Wenger / Swiss Gear bag was manufactured by Group III International, not TRG Group." They did offer to fix it, and I'm embarrassed to say that I was too lazy to bother sending it back."

Find Best Price at Amazon"This bag has been mine for 6 months and been through plenty of air and auto travel-- up and down stairs, over loud tile floors, etc. I loop another bag with additional gear over this one when I travel to take advantage of the wheels-- then when I hit a flight or two of stairs I grab the canvas loop handles while the telescope drag handle is extended and extra bag is looped over the telescope extended handle-- very durable. If you are running after a rental car bus and drag the wheels sideways across concrete or asphalt streets and sidewalks the wheels will sustain those flattened spots around the wheel that make loud thumping noises when you return to hard floor surfaces to roll it in conventional/normal use. There are bags with wheels made from better rubber compounds that better resist abuse. Not a deal breaker-- If you are careful to not drag the bad sideways when running fast while rolling the wheels with telescope extended, then this is not a problem."
"With the placement of the wheels, it rides very smooth, even over rough surfaces like parking lots and streets. The second zippered pocket has enough room for pens and pencils, sticky notes, computer cables, business cards, cell phone, and whatever else you may need to pack. "I searched for several weeks for a professional-looking bag to carry my 15" Macbook Pro, my charger, pens, and a few notebooks and books. I also knew that I preferred a distressed leather bag with slide-in buckles and a very sturdy shoulder strap (that wouldn't stretch out with use). It came as a lighter color than is pictured, but I bought a $5.00 can of mink oil and rubbed it down. The leather is very sturdy and holds up well when the bag is sitting on the floor...it doesn't fall over like a lot of the more expensive bags. The only issue I've had with the bag is that after about a week of use (carrying it to work and school and back), one of the slide buckles will no longer hold (it just slides out) and keeps the flap from securing on one side."
