Pop Music: The Golden Era 1951-1975
Reviews
"Takes me back to growing and mum loving to dance and singe~bless."
"All my favorites and variety of through the years."
"ooh the memories, classic."
"The first CD begins with Frank Sinatra performing a sublime rendition of "Birth Of The Blues;" Frank adds a few lines at the beginning to put his own stamp on this ballad and when Frank goes into the main lyrics of the song it really takes off like a jet! Listen for Andy Williams to sing "Moon River" with panache; this always amazes me! I love this tune by Scott. Moreover, "You've Made Me So Very Happy" by Blood, Sweat & Tears combines a soft rock style with a smooth jazz flavor to make this number very strong; I could never forget this awesome number. Simon and Garfunkel also do a timeless, moving ballad that was so well associated with them; "Bridge Over Troubled Water" is a very tender love song that never fails to move me with its beauty. Looking Glass does good on "Brandy (You're A Fine Girl);" this tune tells the story of a young woman who wants love from one of the sailors who come to port where she works--but, sadly, she doesn't get what she wants."
"Like any collection, it is missing many pieces that you or I might have chosen to include, but let's face it...there is so much music to choose from and a limted number of songs that can fit on 2 CDs!"
"While almost all of the first disc is of that style (Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, et al.), the second disc shows the growth from the more optimistic folkish style, and ends with the more soulful R&B music of the end."
"This is a superb review of a superb musical era."
"DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T GET THIS I MEAN THERE'S NOT 1 JIMI HENDRIX SONG ON HERE I MEAN I KNOW THIS IS POP COLLECTION BUT HEY 1951-1975 WHO ARE THE AMETURES THAT PUT THESE TOGETHER I AM THE ONLY ONE HERE WHO CARES ABOUT MUSIC..?"

Just Another Diamond Day
Reviews
"I like to listen to it while cleaning or walking around in the city - anything high stress, because it distracts from the chaos and brings the mind to greener pastures."
"Considering this came out in the late 60's, one must be very confused why she was never widely acclaimed - she definitely had enormous talent (critics panned the album, and Vashti, being incredibly shy, left the music business until just this year). Musically it's a very very simple set of songs - acoustic guitars, some flutes and a violin every now and then."
"Beautiful folk music. She has one more album she did in 2005, but this is the one you want to listen to first."
"I don't know what to say about the album really, it's some of the most gorgeous but quiet and thimble folk music by a woman with the softest most beautiful voice, who wants nothing else in life but to live on a farm out in the greens Ireland and live a simple life."
"I was so surprised at this record when it came in the mail."
"I ordered this disc after hearing a few tracks on the folk rock channel on my satellite TV."

Live: Something Old, New, Borrowed...and some Blues
Reviews
"but the same way I would go to see him in concert at Jones Beach and then at Radio City the following year... and probably hear the same material... it was / is certainly worth it."
"Love it very good sound and songs I never heard before."
"Never knew he sang bluegrass."
"He did covers of songs that were not on albums, so it gave the listener, some songs that the title Something, Old, New, Borrowed and Some Blues truly captured. This is a CD for Fogelberg fans and those who appreciated the LA Rock music of Jackson Browne, Eagles, Poco, Stephen Stills, etc."
"I was mesmerized by "Don't Let That Sun Go Down"--the sheer grittiness, power and bluezy quality in his voice was incredible."
"I don't think Dan has ever released a song that wasn't a hit."

Bookends
Reviews
"BOOKENDS (released in 1968) is the greatest of all Simon & Garfunkel albums, and one of the best records made in the 1960s. The Vietnam War, the assassinations of public figures, and seeing part of my city burn the previous summer during riots-- it was a lot to handle. The first side of the record ends with the sad longing and fears of Old Friends, who sit on a park bench and reminisce together. The fears and sadness of 1968 are long past, but a final memory remains: As I lay in bed early that Christmas Eve, the colored glow of tree lights seeped into my room. Off in the distance were disembodied television voices of Apollo astronauts circling the moon-- they read passages from the book of Genesis, and wished well the "people of the good Earth.""

Best Southern Rock

Strikes
Reviews
"This southern rock music is really good and compares to Lynyrd Skynyrd and other CDs I own. Rick Medlocke - guitar-vocals and Jackson Spires drums - vocals and the others play great southern rock for several albums, before the standard story of nearly having the big time success peters out and they disband, only to form again later for a while."
"One advantage of seeing them in small bar got to stand right in front slapping hands with em while they were jamming! She's got legs clean up to her hairline I wonder if she's worth the climb?I'm on the run got no time for you now I gotta play for this crowd!"
"Bought this cd for my hubby to jam out to on the road for work."
"it is hard to mess up a CD so what can ya say - deliver was on time and it plays perfectly - great addition to my music collection."
"I highly recommend this to the old school Southern Rock fan, as well as the new fan that wants to learn what it was all about!"

You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll
Reviews
"Twisted Sister's second full length album You Can't Stop Rock N' Roll features a number of favorites that remain in their set to this day. Feel The Power (BONUS TRACK). The remastering by Scott Hull has just added upon the original Atlantic CD release's production. That Spitfire reissue from a few years back (mastered from vinyl) was a disgrace. The Armoury Records reissues' booklet was a simple reproduction ... with the associated loss of detail and clarity."
"The follow-up to their debut was another serious hard rock record that seemed to contradict Twisted Sister's often comical and garish stage and publicity look. The title track which was originally intended for the first record but held back became Twisted Sister's first MTV video but it was "I Am, I'm Me" that was the first UK single off the LP."
"So, I am going back and purchasing older bands material that I KNOW is good on CD. I've heard all kinds of mixed feeling on what sound good and bad. Dee Snider's vocals are great as always and the drum sound is better on here then "Stay Hungry" though I love both albums."
"You cant stop rock n roll, who would want to stop it anyway, this is not a test, its operation rock n roll!!!!!"
"All these are worth buying this CD."
"Two of my Favorite Twisted Sister albums are Under The Blade and You Can't Stop Rock N Roll!!!"
"While not as good as "Under the Blade", Twisted Sister's second effort "You Can't Stop Rock&Roll" is the next best thing."
"Great band , and a killer album!"

Live In Gdansk
Reviews
"This is a really great album."
"One of my all-time favorite David Gilmour performances!"
"Here is why: **** AMAZING PRODUCTION QUALITY, ON BOTH THE CDs AND THE DVDs. **** THE FINAL OFFICIAL RELEASE WHERE YOU ALSO GET TO SEE / HEAR PINK FLOYD KEYBOARDIST RICHARD WRIGHT. **** COMPLETE AND AMAZING 5.1 VERSION OF "ON AN ISLAND" ALBUM. **** GILMOUR, STILL AT THE VERY TOP OF HIS GAME, DEMONSTRATING NEW TALENTS, SUCH AS PLAYING THE SAXOPHONE!! P.S., somewhere out there is a nice DVD recording of a Roger Waters concert from Cork, Ireland (2006), which features Nick Mason."
"Awesome."
"Gilmour ended his On An Island Tour with this show which features the Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Zbigniew Preisner. The disc also features a making of featurette called Gdansk Diary which also covers some background on the Solidarity movement in Poland. These performances include highlights from the Island tour recorded at the Mermaid Theatre in London, The AOL Sessions in New York and Live at Abbey Road."
"I absolutely love it."
"After listening to the CD's while driving, I began to appreciate the music more and more and notice the different touches on these new recordings more and more. I also enjoyed the DVD's especially since it was Richard's last concert filmed with David, and I treasure it, also, but it is the cd's that I have enjoyed so much!"
"One CD in the second set is also scratched and both appear to be used."

Cold Fact
Reviews
"The Oscar nominated documentary 'searching for Sugarman' opened my eyes to why. People thought he had killed himself after being humiliated in the USA. In South Africa he was loved by the young population, 'He Crucified our minds'. He opened our eyes in an apartheid era, when we were blinded by it's evils. It was possibly the greatest Album never heard, but there may have been a 'Rich Folks Hoax' somewhere."
"From a hard, working class background, inclined toward movies and music and influenced by his father's guitar playing, he taught himself and quit school at 16. In the 60s/70s, when war, words, music, and the streets came alive, Rodriguez's singer-songwriting talent carried him to widespread popularity, becoming mainstream in Australia and South Africa. With North American promotion lacking, unbeknownst to him, international licensing and bootlegging created a huge following and market for him, and through intense coercion, Rodriguez agreed to appear in person."
"My only complaint is that I got all three cds and there is a lot of overlap in the songs, but I think the deal was something like I bought the two original CDs and the soundtrack was an extra $5, so not a big deal, but if you want only one CD, get the soundtrack, as it has most of his best songs, but everything he wrote is worth listening to."
"And now he even gets some money for the albums he made in 1969 in Detroit, MI, and 1971 in London, England...which did not sell at the time, except for huge amounts in South Africa. Interesting songs with titles that say a lot: "Sugar Man", "Crucify Your Mind", "This Is Not A Song, It's An Outburst: Or, The Establishment Blues", "Hate Street Dialogue", "Inner City Blues", "Rich Folks Hoax", etc."
