"The main problem is that excellent products like the Samsung Smart Things hub, which do a fantastic job of unifying a slew of different connected devices from different companies (Nest, Honeywell, Phillips, and so on), still lacked the web connectivity and entertainment support I wanted, so I'd still end up needing my tablet or phone. Thanks to fantastic third party support, the Dot has no problem controlling all of my smart stuff while allowing me to listen to music, order food, check the weather, listen to the radio, set alarms and timers, all of which is easily accomplished through simple voice commands. Similar to the smartphone and tablet I use every day that didn't exist just a few short years ago. Kinda hard to quantify, but I'd guess Alexa is at least twice as likely to understand long, complex phrases and has also gained noticeable accuracy when ambient noise I'd present. I was a bit worried initially that Alexa might be triggered accidentally by ambient TV or general household noise, so I'm really impressed that it's only happened twice so far. If it's a concern, the mic can be temporarily disabled, so the dot won't trigger and listen accidentally. I've had no problem pairing the dot to a variety of devices including: two different Bluetooth speakers, my Galaxy S7 edge, and pioneer receiver. Even though the microphones are extremely sensitive and quite accurate, I've found that the Dot works best when placed on a surface that's close to the level of the person speaking to it. If you'd like to place the dot higher, it works much better when flush with the wall, instead of sitting on a shelf etc. I tried both setups and found with a couple nails set apart to make a cradle facing the dot out towards the room works best for me (sorry for the run on sentence lol). Unlike the upcoming Google Home BT speaker, the Dot and other Alexa devices are unable to answer general web queries. They do a decent job of answering factual questions like "How far away is the sun" but I'd really like too see Amazon add a "search" function."

She had no wifi in her bedroom but I resolved that when I purchased TP Link AV500 Wi Fi Range Extender, Powerline Edition which did what no other wifi extender I purchased in past could do, gave my mom's room a secure wifi connection; apparently using already existing phone lines. TP-Link and Echo / Alexa have given my mom a whole new level of excitement, bewilderment, curiosity and wonder and we have only scratched the surface to the power of Echo."

Find Best Price at Amazon"I did a lot of research before choosing this speaker. He ordered the 3 PLUS and says it is a better speaker than his Jawbone Bluetooth Speaker for less than half the cost. I use the smaller speaker, which sets on a high shelf in my shower, as it is water resistant & splash proof. I would go for the Angle 3 PLUS as the price difference is only about $7 unless a smaller speaker is your goal. I have referred several people to this powerful little speaker and all are very happy with their purchase."

"I bought three Bluetooth speakers hoping ONE would be usable. I bought the Cambridge SoundWorks Oontz Angle 3, the Anker Classic Portable, and the Boombotix REX. If you want to nitpick, the Boombotix is the smallest, the Anker is next, and the Cambridge is the largest. The Boombotix is sturdy and easy to use, the buttons are a little close together, but they work well. The Cambridge Angle 3 is sturdy and I love the shape. The rubber end caps are a mixed blessing. I recommend standing it up if you put a lot of volume through it because once the bass starts to thump it will bounce and wiggle it's way all over the place. But standing up the passive radiator on the bottom doesn't propel it all over. None of them are on par with the large Sound Dock or Klipsch type speakers, but they could hardly be expected to compete with those at this size and price.The Cambridge is my favorite because it has more bass than the other two. There's an audio out jack, which you can use to run a second speaker (of any make). I chose the Angle 3, it fits my needs best with the best imitation of bass, but the others are good enough that I've decided to keep them and use them too."

Find Best Price at Amazon"Let me start by saying that I purchased these as a hold over until I could justify tube amps and quality passive bookshelf speakers (Okay, I really mean wives approval) but these make me question even going down that road. Yes it may reproduce lows better at lower volumes but I assure you that at 50-100% power it's hardly a noticeable difference and I prefer the warmer natural tweeter in the R1280T over it's more expensive big brother. The R1700BT does have bluetooth and that alone can justify the additional cost, but you are also getting a larger amp as well making it a solid purchase. The R1700BT was basically the same height and width but with a sloped front that brings the base out a bit further."
"I am by no means an audiophile but I also didn't want cheapo junk speakers and I also wouldn't benefit from anything more expensive. I gave myself a budget of $100 as I wanted better quality sound then cheap PC speakers and felt anything more than $100 for me and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway. Also the 1280T's have the controls on the side which I like, a elegant aesthetic to them that I think would fit in with more than the green of the CR3's, and they include a simple but useful remote. One of my problems prior with a cheap bullet speaker was that dialog was hard to hear. Not being an audiophile the best I can do to describe the sound is to say its much more lifelike than any other speakers I have in my house or have heard when I'm out shopping. Additionally, the play button can also be used to switch a call between speaker and mobile device. Without any obstruction in between the speaker and my phone, sound didn’t cutoff until both were about 100 feet apart, producing the best Bluetooth range of all speakers I’ve tested to date. The speaker has the ability to put an existing call on hold while answering another incoming call. There is one feature that is common with most speakers I’ve tested but not present with the SoundCore 2 and that is the ability to call the last number dialed on the phone the speaker is paired with. Pros. • Durable and rugged construction. • Good sound reproduction. • Loud. • Comprehensive user guide in 9 languages. • Amazing Bluetooth range. • Advanced phone call answering features. • Ability to enable voice activated software (Siri with iOS). • Anker-branded charging cable. Cons. • Can’t go to previous track. • Can’t call the last number dialed. • No auxiliary cable. Conclusion. "It seems like a lot of this speaker's power is from resonance with the surface it is sitting on, so if good bass or volume is a concern you should make sure to position it on a solid wood table as opposed to plastic...the sound at the same setting on a beach towel in the grass or sand is noticeably quieter, less clear and punchy than the same setting on a wood stool in my backyard, though still perfectly within my "outdoor background music" range of acceptability. In a "beach" context this actually works out well because this sort of self-limits the projection to only your immediate area of the beach or park, which will bother people who want everyone in the whole world to hear their music but endear the device to people like me who want decent quality sound confined to a small area of the outdoors, and as I said setting it up atop a nice firm block of wood will get you a very noteworthy volume increase."
"If you plan on doing a lot of sharing of this device at get togethers or parties, you should consider these nuisances. Second, my buddy plugged his iPod in using the 3mm adapter and that worked well but it kept skipping and stopping. It does get distorted when you turn it up to high(above 3/4) but that should be expected when you're purchasing a speaker of this caliber. I recently tested out the new one and honestly it still sounds the same when pushed past 3/4th volume."

I use the smaller speaker, which sets on a high shelf in my shower, as it is water resistant & splash proof. I would go for the Angle 3 PLUS as the price difference is only about $7 unless a smaller speaker is your goal. "I bought three Bluetooth speakers hoping ONE would be usable. I bought the Cambridge SoundWorks Oontz Angle 3, the Anker Classic Portable, and the Boombotix REX. If you want to nitpick, the Boombotix is the smallest, the Anker is next, and the Cambridge is the largest. The Boombotix is sturdy and easy to use, the buttons are a little close together, but they work well. The Cambridge Angle 3 is sturdy and I love the shape. The rubber end caps are a mixed blessing. I recommend standing it up if you put a lot of volume through it because once the bass starts to thump it will bounce and wiggle it's way all over the place. But standing up the passive radiator on the bottom doesn't propel it all over. None of them are on par with the large Sound Dock or Klipsch type speakers, but they could hardly be expected to compete with those at this size and price.The Cambridge is my favorite because it has more bass than the other two. There's an audio out jack, which you can use to run a second speaker (of any make). I chose the Angle 3, it fits my needs best with the best imitation of bass, but the others are good enough that I've decided to keep them and use them too."

I bought a Sonos:Connect to plug into my home stereo, and a Sonos Bridge to wirelessly stream the music on my computer to it. So you won't see album artwork on your controller unless you bought the files from the iTunes or another online store that embeds the artwork, or go through a process to copy the artwork into the files themselves via iTunes (Sonos has a good description of how to do this on their support website).]. Once I connected everything and streamed my first song, I noticed that the sound quality was off. I plugged the Connect into the DAC via the optical connecter, plugged the DAC into my stereo ... and problem solved. At any rate, I now have both great sound and the great ease of use that comes with the Sonos."

So, I install the system on a newer LED tv that has a 5.1 pass through on the optical port and bam! The playbar is a great anchor for the TV when it comes to dialogue and as it acts as a front pair and center speaker for the whole system during movies and music. As mentioned at the start of this diatribe, Sonos needs to get off their elitist butts and add HDMI connectivity and support for DTS. After reading through countless forum threads about the issue, it almost seems as if the Sonos team takes a certain pride in telling their paying faithful to shut up and colors they decide are in our best interest. I would recommend it if you can afford it, you aren't looking for audiophile ego strokes, you want to scrap the wires, and if you have a TV that passes the full 5.1 through the optical port."

Find Best Price at Amazon"I hoped to utilized the factory Styrofoam form to house a shallow mount sub, and instead of using my old Crunch 1000 watt bridgeable amp connected to a sub, this all-in-one unit works GREAT! After about two hours of tuning and putting the unit to the test by pumping multiple musical genres (Metal/Rock, Reggae, R&B, Hip Hop, Classical and Country) through her, the unit went into protection mode. I'd hoped that the unit would run cool enough by itself to avoid a shut down but I also knew that the Styrofoam storage shelf is a perfect insulator and has virtually no air flow. Stage two of the install was the addition of two 3 inch 12V cooling fans, (one intake fan and one exhaust fan) connected to the remote power wire, which turns them on when the Amp is powers up, and strategically placed on the hottest side of the amp; blowing the majority of fresh, cooler air pressure on the left side of the storage box and pulled out by the exhaust fan at end of the air channel, blown out into a different chamber to avoid the re-circulation of hot air back onto the amp."

Pairing with a phone is by the usual procedure and it works perfectly using Bluetooth which gives very fast connection and clear sound (see video). I could not find the actual weather protection rating of the speaker however I think it is fair to say that this speaker would need to be kept away from water. I think everyone understands the concept of bass and in that respect, it has very strong bass as you would expect with such an impressive subwoofer. I experimented with a good quality graphic equaliser on my phone and found that whatever setting I chose, be it pre-set or manually adjusted, the speaker produced clear, clean sound without distortion or vibration. It is completely capable of providing great sound quality without distortion for a whole wide range of music genres and if you want to push bass, high ends etc."
