Reviews
"The jars wobble a bit and the bottom circles of the rack are just a little too far apart to hold them very steady if you don't have them placed perfectly."
"I was a total newbie and this rack really made it easy to deal with the jars in the hot water."
"Even for one level, the racks are not effective for narrow jars (the 12 oz jam jars will have a tendancy to tip over), and the way the rack is constructed does not allow for a lot of various sized jars to sit properly."
"Nice to have when you just have a few pints or quarts to can in a narrow tall pot, and don't want to heat all that water in a huge water bath canner."
"I use it in the bottom of a stock pot for canning and my husband uses it for steaming crabs."
"The rack sits higher in my water bath canner than the original rack did so it puts jars closer to the lid, therefore the tall jelly jars are barely covered with water and it boils water out all over the stove."
"Pint-sized jars will tip because the rack underneath is too wide between wires to hold the bottom of the jar in place, and because the loops aren't high enough to hold the sides of the jars securely. My jars stay in place better if they're just sitting on the flat metal rack that came with the canner."
"I have been canning for a year now and this rack is going in the recycling bin."

"I LOVE this canning rack and all the options it gives you when canning."
"I never pull the rack full of canned goods out of the water anyway so this is no big deal to me, i can't stand the handles falling into the water when I am trying to load jars, so I learned that trick a long time ago."
"After many many years of using the old rusty rack that came with my ancient canner, finally I have this tidy and versatile rack that works much better!"
"Our original rack rusted through and made the water nasty every time we used it."
"I use it to steralize jars and when they are out of the granitware canner I put the wire rack that it came with in the canner to process the jars."
"At the end of the season it had quite a bit of lime build up from our hard water, but a quick soak in white vinegar/water made it look like new again."
"This is a far better canning rack than the original one with my canner; while you do have to be careful to not knock the jars over due to the lack of "dividers", I like it better because it allows me to put more jars in the canner."
"This works very well for my canning pot as well as when I blanch my tomatoes."

Presto 01781 23-Quart Pressure Canner and Cooker
The USDA recommends pressure canning as the only safe method for low-acid foods such as vegetables, meats, and poultry. An accompanying rack fits down into the pot to keep jars up off the bottom, so that liquid can circulate underneath. An accompanying booklet contains more than 50 recipes, ranging from basic soup stocks to stews and pot roasts--even sweets like English Plum Pudding or Brown Bread! Tenderize lean cuts of beef or pork, or cook chicken, fish, or vegetables faster than you can in a microwave, and without losing moisture. Nonabrasive cleansers are best for cleaning this aluminum pressure cooker, though occasional use of a fine metal polish will help the exterior keep its shine. A detailed instruction and recipe booklet is included; special safety issues that pertain to pressure cookers are clearly explained. Deluxe pressure dial gauge registers the complete range of processing pressures; This precise measurement is especially important at higher altitudes.

"(from applesauce to grape juice to green beans to venison). My sister got the All American Canner and we canned side by side a lot so we could compare the two. She can make applesauce in hers w/o burning the bottom (I burned mine), but I can use the Presto one on my glass top oven which she can't do with her All American because of how heavy it is. The All American is a weighted gauge canner, while this Presto one is a dial gauge canner."
"When we move to a lower elevation I will invest in a 5-10-15lb weight because I prefer the jiggler to the pressure gauge. They both work perfectly and I have since purchased the 6 quart pressure cooker and absolutely love it for cooking. I used the 16 quart canner to reheat a rotisserie chicken and it turned out amazing and did it faster and better than the microwave and more moist than the oven. To sum up the capacity: The 23 Qt will hot water bath 7 quarts or 10 pints (stacking is not recommended for water bathing) and. pressure can 7 quarts or 20 pints(double staked). the 16 Qt will hot water bath 10 pints (water bathing quarts is not recommended) and. pressure can 7 quarts or 10 pints. The 6 Qt is not recommended for canning, but makes dinners or sides very quick and easy."
"This pressure canner works very well and I now feel confident in pressure canning even more foods for my family!"
"Gasket seems well made, good solid bottom and top. Gaskets for pressure gauge, over pressure relief valve and main lid gaskets look like main areas of maintenance."

"If you didn't realize it already, you can write right on the glass jars with a Sharpie marker."
"The lids have been in the freezer to freeze left over smoothie and store our granola and dry cereal."
"BUT, if you want an air tight seal, you need to get the silicon rings that fit in the lid."
"With all the canning and pickling I do, this is a must have."
"These lids are great."
"I have no idea how I missed the fact that these existed, but I seriously love these silly things!"
"It gets stored in the freezer (i.e. doesn't go through the formal canning process)."
"I pack my lunch in mason jars, so using the metal canning/preserving lids that come with them is inconvenient."

Reviews
"It takes just a bit less than 3 quarts of water to fill it to the correct level - SOOOO much less than a water bath canner! The canner I got has a nice flat, sturdy metal "stand" that goes in the bottom of the canner to hold the jars above the bottom of the canner. I was done processing and had the jars cooling and the canner put away in the time that a water bath canner would have taken to come to a boil to START the processing!! And it was so nice to grab the jars from that low base rather than from the basket at the top of a water bath canner."
"The steam method of canning was just approved by the state extension office, so it is now an accepted alternative method of preserving high acid foods."
"For small batches, I just use a good size stockpot, but for bigger batches in peak season, I will use the sanitize cycle on the dishwasher or use my old granite blue canner just for sterilizing."
"It significantly cuts down on time in the kitchen, as the water heats up very quickly."
"Wrap the lid down with some bungee cords until you actually hear a whistling sound."
"It cut hours off my normal process times for three dozen quarts of tomatoes."
"So heavy and forever to bring to a boil, my kitchen doesn't get real hit😍 I have MS and I candor this by myself, even emptying the canner of water."
"This new canner is so easy and with the altitude dial makes it really easy and quicker."
