My suggestion would be to use a different material or somehow wrap it with some sort of tape because there's still the potential for it to splinter due to excessive bending when cats pull on the opposite end. Your cat(s) will obviously favor some toys over others - this is more a result of your cat's preferences than a con or a negative reflection on the product or vendor. I would rather see my cats destroy toys knowing they had fun playing with them rather than have them ignored. However, if my cats' reaction to these toys are any indication, the vendor is well on the right track."

"The fishing pole and fish were dragged around the house for three days (between playing sessions) before one of the kittens bit through the fishing line. If we can find the fish, we will be repairing fishing pole (the string looks similar to fishing tackle I've seen at the store). It is very high quality, and even if we can't find the fish, we'll probably sew a loop on some other toy so they can get back to playing with in (just have to get to the sporting goods store for the tackle)."
