"Due to a rash of mail theft in my area, I decided to upgrade my locking mail box to something that is more difficult to fish (most of this is people just coming by and reaching in for whatever they can get), as well as more difficult to pry open. The box that it replaces is an older version of the Gibraltar MSK00000 mailbox available here on Amazon and the box stores for about $60. As to prying the box open, while the lock and steel case are noticeably heavier duty than the box it replaces (and other boxes in this price range), I don't believe it would stand up to a serious attempt to pry it open. If the lock stood up (which it well might), I think the door would bend open enough to allow for mail to be taken, and then the door and/or box would need to be replaced. Cons: - For someone looking for a box that can't be pried, you want to look for heavier grade steel and tighter tolerances on fit and finish, so that is not so easy to get a screw driver or other pry tool into the top or sides of the locking door. - Because Mail Boss makes a big deal in their ads about preventing mail theft and showing guys prying open competitors' mail boxes, I rated this a four star product instead of five stars. - For people that want a box that is significantly more secure, Fort Knox mail boxes appear to be one good way to go. You may need a new post install (with a significant concrete base) to hold the mail box which weighs about 100lbs, and you'd be well advised to have two people to install something that heavy."
"As with most people here, there has been a rash of mail thefts in our area so I wanted to get a good locking mailbox. The front mail receive flap is very strong and has a full hinge along its lower edge, I tried to fish my hand in the slot and could not get anywhere in the main box. The lower compartment has a reinforced metal welded front panel and anti-pry feature around the lock - to me this looks pretty hard to open up even with a crow bar. As for a negative, that would be that some water was able to get in, it rained A LOT this weekend and was pretty windy and I did note some minimal water getting in at the bottom of the lower compartment towards the back not sure where it got in from and if that is to be expected with heavy rain, however it does have drainage holes and a liner that holds the mail up from the base so did not effect the mail."
"The "wings" the design includes apparently meant for appearance and weather protection ended making a perfect fulcrum for prying the door open."

"He literally hates to walk up to front door and drop off packages because last week he stuffed a package into our mailbox that was too big and we literally had to take a knife to cut it out of the mailbox."
"Mailbox Came in Perfect Condition."
"I have attached before and after pics of my old box with this monster."
"Mailbox is pretty good - very large, which is exactly what we needed at a chemical plant for any large mail we received (i.e. small boxes ~8"x8", large packets of documents, tons of magazines/catalogs, etc.)."
"I love the size—plenty of small parcels will fit."
"This is the largest mailbox available on Amazon."
"this mail box is made to last."
"He can send many of his items out from home now because it holds larger packages. Gave 4 stars because there was a small bent place upon arrival, but that was repairable."

"The FCC limits the transmission power the unit can use, and I had a number of potentially negative placement factors that caused me to doubt whether the unit would work for me, namely. 1. He concurred that all those factors were real concerns and there was a good chance that the unit might not work in my situation. I purchased it anyway, and after I inserted the battery and mounted the transmitter in the box the unit worked perfectly, first with me standing in front of the box, then operating it from my vehicle, and finally with actual postal deliveries from the post-office truck. My plethora of negative factors may require me to change the battery earlier than others with more-ideal situations but that's a small price to pay to get instant notification of a delivery to my distant and invisible mailbox. It's hard to believe that people have complained about having to take out four small screws to insert the battery. I installed a new battery (12.5 volts) and the unit returned to perfect operation. If your unit is acting erratically my numbers may give you a scale for judging the health of your battery."
"The description states "Not recommended for extra large heavy walled mailboxes," so I was prepared to return it if it didn't work with our "Mail Boss 7506 Mail Manager Locking Security Mailbox.""
"Wracked my brains to come up with a mail box alert system, finally dawned on me, "maybe somebody else has thought of it"."
"By the way, Radio Shack carries generic brick power supplies for a fraction of what a new chime would cost--just take your unit to the RS store to make sure you get the right plug and verify that the RS product meets the unit's electrical requirements. The newer model has changed its "chime" to a more palatable pulsing beep at a lower, less intrusive frequency. It would be nice if the receiving unit were keyed for wall mounting, and if one could select from a variety of signals and, perhaps, real chimes, as with a cell phone--rather than being locked into this pulsing tone, which still is just a bit irritating."
"After notifying the seller of the failure, he immediately sent a replacement and 2 extra batteries."

Mail Boss 7121 In Ground Post
Use this 43" in-ground post to mount any Mail Boss locking mailbox. Enter your model number to make sure this fits.
Reviews
"The Mail Boss 7121 in-ground steel post is 4”x4” with a hollow interior that will fit snugly over a standard 3.5”x3.5” wood post (although the wood post will need to be reasonably straight). The mounting plate included with the Mail Boss 7106 mail box has a total of 24 3/8” holes arranged symmetrically in it, and four of these holes line up very nicely with the four threaded holes on the top plate of the 7121 steel post. The post includes four lag bolts with which to secure the mounting plate to the steel post. One of the four sides of the post has no holes in it, but the other three sides each have two 5/16” holes, one located 1 and 3/8 inch (to the center of the hole) from the bottom of the post and the second located 4 and 3/8 inch from the bottom of the post. The mail entry slot on this mail box is approximately 12 inches above the top plate of the steel post when the mail box is mounted on the post using the included mounting plate. Since the post is 43” long, this means that you will only be able to sink about 10 to 14 inches of the steel post into the ground if the roadway is level with the ground onto which you will mount the mail box."
"I purchased this post along with a Mail Boss "Package Master" locking mailbox."
"I thought it was expensive until I contacted a local metal shop and asked what it would cost for them to make an equivalent post. The post in this review is powder coated for a very long lasting finish."
"Good quality Fits either a mailbox or a spreader bracket."
"This post attached easily and quickly to the box."
"For the price, it's strong, heavy, nicely finished and plenty long for a decent concrete mount into the ground. I'd recommend it, but there may be some minor issues (dent, cross threaded bolt, in my case), but overall...a perfect match to the Mail Boss box."
"When placing the post I do recommend putting the mailbox on so you can get an accurate look at how it will sit."
"Purchased this to go with the Package Master mailbox."

"A plastic sleeve (included) goes over the post, and another plastic cap (also included) goes at the top once you have your post securely in the ground. One goes in the top of the cap to hold it to the post, and the other goes at the base of the post to hold it securely."
"We live on a curve and have had previous mailboxes mowed down and wrecked, and sure enough the first snow of the season the maniac kid from down the street slid into our new mailbox, but amazingly it wasn't even dented."
"Although I was suspecting a finer more luxurious feel in person when it seems kind of cheap compared to some of the pewter/copper options I was looking at in Home Depot."
"I chatted with Amazon's customer service and he said that they can not supply more numbers than what was shipped with the mailbox."
"One thing I really love about it is when I walk to the mailbox, I can reach in the back and get the mail without getting out onto the road. That's great, because cars fly by here like a hundred miles an hour and such."
"We already had the post set in cement 24 inches tall, which was un damaged by the snowplow, so we simply removed the remains of the old mailbox and installed this one."
"If you are installing a new post and want the box to stand straight and not lean forward with age, I recommend using a steel post clamp set in cement."
"Loved this mailbox and it is the fourth one since I bought my house 27 years ago."

"One day if I need a mailbox to prevent deliberate stealing, I will buy another special security mailbox."
"I bought it for my home using, I appreciate that the box is large enough to hold several days' mails, great for people having no enough time to pick up mails every day."
"They are the last thing I clean and usually require more effort than the collective energy of washing all the dishes, utensils, bowls, and cups. The last thing I want to do after spending the remnants of my energy, after a long day at work, putting a meal together, is standing at the sink - with my aching back and pruned hands - scrubbing the endless nooks and crannies of my cookware. To be truthful, sometimes the mere question of whether I will have the gusto to clean my kitchen prompts me to dig out the take-out menus."
"I have looked for a long time to find something that I could clean my cast iron cookware without using any detergent since detergent removes the seasoning."
"We ordered this mailbox because of its nice, modern look -- a perfect complement to the minimalist aesthetic of our house."
"I bought this mailbox as a gift to my cousin who recently bought a new home."
