However, the night vision does not work behind the glass because of the glare that comes off the window. I didn't give it a full 5 stars for these reasons, which aren't too major for me, but may be important to some: 1) It seems a little lightweight, not real sturdy, but it works, so... 2) Did not come with the wall adapter, just the cord. Luckily I have a few extras just hanging around from my phone chargers.. 3) Charger cord is very short. If the motion and sound detection works, I don't see why you would need 24 hour recording, much of which may be dead (no action)."

At $50 this has several features which are hard to all find on one camera - even the big names. Local SD storage with continuous recording as well as saved motion clips. Funny thing is, I have numerous statistics on my network that show that there are no other devices sending traffic upstream when trying to connect to the Ring Floodlight Cam. Bottom line, this device doesn't work nearly as well as the Doorbells and when you need someone in support that can think outside the box from just reset the device, extend your signal or increase your speed, you can't get to that person. One device gets updated while the other is still on an old firmware version even though they are both connected to the same wi-fi network and have good signal strength. The monthly cost for this service is very reasonable - for my four cameras less than $15 a month on the 7 day plan. I can view the cameras and watch video clips from my pc, but many of the settings and features have to be done through your phone. "This breaks a de-facto standard for IP cameras and makes them hard to troubleshoot. You can literally search for the exact model # printed on the camera (ZP-IBI15-W) and there are no results. Assuming I didn't want to use 3rd party software, the setup feels like a security risk. You have to log in to an Android app or a Web site to view the camera and there is a significant delay before the picture comes up. Had to restart the Android app at least twice (and I am on a nice LG phone less than 2 years old). While the hardware might be just fine, the software makes these cameras too good to be true: what could have been a very affordable starting point or building block to a good system is instead just part of a cloud over-dependent crippled and inflexible service. I will be reboxing these cameras, returning them, and going with another brand I'd never heard of that lists Blue Iris capability as a feature."

Cameras are small and pretty solid for the price, IR illumination works as it should, but plan on about 35' ~ 50' of good IR illumination in pure dark. all you need is a USB mouse, VGA monitor or HDMI TV/monitor and I would suggest a USB thumb drive if you plan to export video. Single wire install for cameras! no need for power and video cables, ... one cable does both... but see below. (depending on your settings). CONS: (a lot of these are petty complaints). Cameras have a micro USB connector on them, not an RJ45, ... so if you plan on wiring long distance not using the factory cable, keep this in mind. It was not necessary for me to extend any of the cables on my first install, so I can not provide info as to how far the cables can be extended. AS OF INSTALL: I bought 2 of these thinking "well, if 8 cameras out of 16 work, I'll be happy" All 8 cameras on the first unit came up instantly (see note above re: IR filter) The system has been recording 5 cameras for 4 days at a reasonable frame rate and the hard drive is not even close to being taxed. * I am not currently a security system installer, not affiliated with any security company, not being endorsed or obtaining a discount by the manufacturer of this product for this review."
