"sure its not the greatest fighting game in the world but for anyone who actually likes fighting games or anything mortal kombat related or anyone who owns a jaguar needs to try this game."
"MY HUSBAND LOVES THIS!"
"However, some boneheaded decisions slowly brought down the company and the rest of the video game market. Several companies made offers, but in July 1984, Jack Tramiel, who just six months earlier had been ousted from Commodore, bought Atari's home consumer division and shelved all video game projects and concentrated solely on the home computer side with the development and eventual release of the Atari ST 16-bit computer system. By 1990 Atari finally gave up on the 2600 and 7800 and started working on a new 32-bit console called the Panther. They courted software developers, adopted a "cooler" media presence (including "meet & greets" with Atari executives such as Sam Tramiel, Garry Tramiel, and Jeff "Yak" Minter), and tried to increase its marketing presence. The Jaguar was released in limited markets in New York City and San Francisco in late 1993. However, Atari once again got lazy with quality control, and by the end of 1995, the Jaguar was virtually dead. Then in 1996, the shot around the world was heard : Atari was exiting the video game business by entering into a reverse-merger with floppy drive manufacturer Jugi Tandon Storage (aka JTS) and became simply a division under JTS. Games with "cool" graphics include Alien Vs Predator, Tempest 2000, Super Burnout, Ultra Vortek, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, Val d'Isere Skiing & Snowboarding, and FlipOut."
"And if this mistake is somehow fixed at a future date and only reviews for the featured product "Kasumi Ninja" appear, just disregard these first couple paragraphs. Since Mortal Kombat 3, which was announced, never saw the light of day on the Atari Jaguar, Jag collectors are stuck with two MK klones: Kasumi Ninja from 94 and Ultra Vortek from 95. Kasumi Ninja pretty much sucks, I probably gave it one star too many only because I've played the completely broken and incompetent Mortal Kombat Advance recently (as a collector I don't shy away from bad games, but I'm reviewing this for normal people, not pseudo-masochistic sickos such as myself). Actually the resolution is good enough that you can often see where the sprites have been doctored due to a presumably low costume budget (look at the comanche chief's pants and tell me that's really what he's wearing). The backgrounds also look nice and the parrallax scrolling pushes Kasumi's graphics above the arcade versions of MK 1 and 2 in my opinion. To my delight, unlike in the first four Mortal Kombats (most noticeable in 1 and 4) the character's basic attacks vary in speed and range. The game is ultra generic with a cast full of bland, unappealing characters that try to redeem themselves with the ultra-violent "death moves". The game doesn't use "mind reading", AI, even on the harder difficulty levels, making it beatable even with the implementation of limited continues. To "aid" you, they open portals and allow you to defeat the best warriors in history, such as Angus with his fiery genitelia and an assistant DA who wears spandex at night to fight criminals with her fists."

"But personally I enjoy playing the Jaguar just as much as any video game system, and I want to show some love for the machine, perhaps simply to compensate for the unfair amount of critisism the Jaguar has endured. While the Jaguar ran circles around the Genesis and Snes in terms of power, the hype of the Playstation and Saturn loomed over the Jaguar in 94, it's pivotal year. In a little over two years, the "official" lifespan of the Jaguar, only 54 or 55 games were released. While it's understandable that in the mid 90s the software lineup just didn't seem as exciting as what the Playstation had, taking a second look almost two decades later the Jaguar has a lot of fun games."
"The much-maligned Atari Jaguar, released in late 1993, was the most advanced video game system in the world at the time. Yes, it was truly 64-bit, as the graphics and data processors were 64-bit, while it also contained two 32-bit processors (for other purposes) and a secondary processor, the Motorolla 68000, which was technically 16-bit but was never intended for use in primary functions. That's right, this system had such devoted fans that they produced a market for games released three to ten years after the system was officially dropped!"
"People with todays games and systems don't appreciate old school like my Gen..."
