Because ARP studs are manufactured to such exacting tolerances, you will note that gaskets and cylinder heads literally glide into position and are perfectly aligned, something that won't happen with inferior quality head studs. ARP studs are thread rolled after heat treat, which gives them about 1000 Percent (that's ten times) better fatigue strength than those studs that are threaded prior to heat treat. This procedure (done only to the shorter studs) more equalizes the "stretch" of both studs, which makes for a more consistent clamping force and one that compensates for head gasket compression when the cylinder heads are installed. Thread Rolled After Heat Treat, Which Gives Them About Ten Times Better Fatigue Strength Than Those Studs That Are Threaded Prior To Heat Treat.

"I GOT THE NEW PUSHRODS AND PUT SOME 3 IN ONE OIL AROUND THE RUBBER O-RINGS AND ASSEMBLED ALLTHE PUSH ROD TUBES TO DO THE JOB THE NEXT DAY,,,NEXT DAY I TRIED TO SEE HOW THEY COMPRESSED AND EXPANDED,,,IT WAS LOCKED IN POSITION,,,COULDN'T EXPAND OR CONTRACT THE PUSH ROD TUBE,,,THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET THEM TO WORK WAS TO TAKE CHANELE LOCK PLIRES AT EACH END AND TWIST THEM AND IT FINALLY LET LOOSE,,,THEY WERE ALSO TOO LONG AND I HAD TO CUT OFF ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH OFF TO GET THEM TO FIT BETWEEN MY ENGINE HEAD AND THE ENGINE CASE,,,,ONCE I GOT THEM IN ANDTWISTED THEM TO MAKE THEM EXPAND THEY WERE OK FOR A COUPLE OF RUNS DOWN THE STREET,,,THEY LEAKED A LITTLE KINDA LIKE THE ONES I JUST REPLACED...I WENT FOR A RIDE ONE NIGHT AND THE NEXT DAY I WENT OUT TO MY GARAGE AND THERE WAS A TWO FOOT BY TWO FOOT OIL LEAK,,,,,,,,,THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK COULD OF HAPPENED IS WHEN THE ENGINE HEATED UP IT COMPRESSED THE TUBE,,,AND WHEN IT COOLED DOWN THAT THEY DIDN'T EXPAND LIKE THEY WERE SUPOSED TO AND LEFT A BIG GAP WHERE IT WAS SUPOSE TO EXPAND AND KEEP IT SEALED,,,SO NOW I'M GOING TO TAKE OFF THE VALVE COVER AND TAKE OFF THE ROCKER ARMS AND TAKE OUT THE PUSH RODS AND TAKE OUT THE PUSH ROD TUBES AND SEE IF I CAN GET THEM TO LOOSEN UP AND DO WHAT THEY WERE SUPOSE TO DO,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,OILY MESS IN OHIO,,,,,,,,,,L.SIMMS ,,,,,,937 258 3794,,,,IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS."
