Reviews
"This was a great book."
"I've read the other two versions of Real Time Marketing & PR and it's a book I constantly reference and refer to executives looking to find a practical way to understand the benefits of participating effectively in a new media world. I've also found that social media and new media practitioners can find value in reading the book as a guide to building a thorough understanding of effective online marketing and PR that goes well beyond Facebook and Twitter."
"Hi I’m Douglas Burdett, host of The Marketing Book Podcast and I’d like to tell you about the 6th edition of "The New Rules of Marketing and PR: How to Use Social Media, Online Video, Mobile Applications, Blogs, News Releases, and Viral Marketing to Reach Buyers Directly" by David Meerman Scott. The book explains that there are (and have always been) three ways to get a buyer’s attention: 1-You can buy attention with advertising such as television commercials, magazine and newspaper ads, the yellow pages, billboards, trade show floor space, direct-mail list and the like. 2-You can beg for attention from the editorial gatekeepers like radio and TV stations, magazines, newspapers, and trade journals. 3-You can have a team of salespeople bug for attention one person at a time by knocking on doors, calling people on the telephone, sending personal emails, or waiting for individuals to walk into your showroom. But it has been proven to work – in fact it’s more effective than the other three approaches of buying, begging or bugging for attention. When considering different careers I asked a professor who had worked in advertising for a book recommendation so I could learn more about advertising. I went through the classic five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. It helped me understand the fundamental changes occurring in how people obtain information and make buying decisions."
"Like the first edition, the second edition of this book is my favorite reference book."
"When I began considering starting my own marketing agency, this was the first book I read."

The Art of the Pitch: Persuasion and Presentation Skills that Win Business
Readers will learn how to develop skills to create the perfect presentation. Praise for Peter's Seminar Presentation Skills Workshops: Rarely do we now prepare for a presentation without someone saying, 'Have we Coughter'd it?'.
Reviews
"In the book, Coughter explains the importance of presentations and gives tips about what to do and what not to do so that the reader can improve their own pitching skills. Coughter breaks down `the pitch' or presentations into several points: everything is a presentation, it's not about you, how to connect with the audience, the power of emotion, how you should be and act, the authenticity of your presentation, do not let the deck drag you down, how to organize the presentation, rehearse, and be punctual. In my opinion, this book achieves this because it has inspired me to improve on my own pitching skills and I have been trying to apply his tips to my presentations since I read this book. While reading the book I found that I should improve my skills at presenting because I was making many of the mistakes he was telling the reader to avoid. I believe having students read or a professor teach the ideas in Art of the Pitch would greatly benefit the students because learning to present well is one of the most forgotten about life skills."
"Coughter’s goal is to show audiences simple ideas that lead to better presentations and increased success as a result of those improved presentations. The main arguments that Coughter presents and supports in his writing include the ideas of being yourself in presentations, knowing the information and being able to roll with unexpected problems, being clear and enthusiastic about the purpose of the presentation, and knowing your audience before you go to present to them. For example, on page 120 Coughter puts in a story from Alex Bogusky, former chief creative officer and co-founder of CP+B, who talks about a presentation he had to give where his people loaded the wrong tape for the presentation. Coughter decided to put in these results because they show that presentations should be given passionately and enthusiastically so the audience remembers feeling excited during the presentation so if they don’t remember some important content, they at least remember how the content made them feel. This style made the entire book support for Coughter’s arguments about how to become a better presenter by putting all of his ideas into practice in the writing of his book."
"I recommend this book to anyone interested in improving their communication skills, regardless of their industry (of course, being in the world of marketing makes the author's past experiences that much more engaging and relatable)."
"Great read if you do any kind of presentation and, really, who doesn't?"
"This book is great I am a communication Designs major and it helps me pitch project to professor for the professor can fully understand what I am trying to sell."
"This had so many great anecdotes woven throughout to exemplify the chapters and ideas."
"This book was assigned reading for my graduate studies and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it."
