Prison Songs, V. 1: Murderous Home
Reviews
"All convicts are at the infamous Parchman Farm prison, located in the deep Delta, in Mississippi."
"If you are a collector of early Afro-American music, slave songs, or related hymns this is a great addition to your collection."
"Important for anyone who cares about Black history or music. Or history."
"A great historical recording that teaches both the way prison workers sang as well as the mythology that was a part of their singing."
"Incredibly clean sound for the 40's, all well recorded, musically superb pieces, each a perfect gem of its kind, preserving some of the oldest and best of American music, done by some of the finest singers you've never heard of."
"This is simply stirring given the history of this music, and its obvious connections to spirituals and blues from all of the decades prior."
"Recording quality good."
"classic collection of rare & historic songs."

Pop Music: The Golden Era 1951-1975
Reviews
"Takes me back to growing and mum loving to dance and singe~bless."
"All my favorites and variety of through the years."
"ooh the memories, classic."
"The first CD begins with Frank Sinatra performing a sublime rendition of "Birth Of The Blues;" Frank adds a few lines at the beginning to put his own stamp on this ballad and when Frank goes into the main lyrics of the song it really takes off like a jet! Listen for Andy Williams to sing "Moon River" with panache; this always amazes me! I love this tune by Scott. Moreover, "You've Made Me So Very Happy" by Blood, Sweat & Tears combines a soft rock style with a smooth jazz flavor to make this number very strong; I could never forget this awesome number. Simon and Garfunkel also do a timeless, moving ballad that was so well associated with them; "Bridge Over Troubled Water" is a very tender love song that never fails to move me with its beauty. Looking Glass does good on "Brandy (You're A Fine Girl);" this tune tells the story of a young woman who wants love from one of the sailors who come to port where she works--but, sadly, she doesn't get what she wants."
"Like any collection, it is missing many pieces that you or I might have chosen to include, but let's face it...there is so much music to choose from and a limted number of songs that can fit on 2 CDs!"
"While almost all of the first disc is of that style (Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, et al.), the second disc shows the growth from the more optimistic folkish style, and ends with the more soulful R&B music of the end."
"This is a superb review of a superb musical era."
"DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T GET THIS I MEAN THERE'S NOT 1 JIMI HENDRIX SONG ON HERE I MEAN I KNOW THIS IS POP COLLECTION BUT HEY 1951-1975 WHO ARE THE AMETURES THAT PUT THESE TOGETHER I AM THE ONLY ONE HERE WHO CARES ABOUT MUSIC..?"

"I remember Robert Shaw from many years ago and loved his musical direction but wasn't that enthusiastic about this CD."
"Absolutely fabulous as all Robert Shaw work."
"In my opinion the Shaw Chorale recordings of the 50s and 60s are superior because the talent of the singers is more mature sounding."
"I have loved this CD for some time,so this particular CD was purchased for a friend who I knew would love it as well."
"Masterful performances of the classic Shaw/Parker arrangements."
"Given as gift, and the receiver loved it!"
"I fell in love with this CD the first time I heard it."

"An essential addition to any South African music collection, featuring a wide range of primarily Zulu and Shangaan artists."
"i was very disappointed with this cd, maybe it's my own fault, but i thought i was gonna get some african singing I wanted to hear african vocal groups like ladysmith black or whatever that group is.. i wasted my damn money...and im higly upset."

Greatest Hits Live
Reviews
"Only Boz is Boz, like only Daryl is Daryl ."
"Boz has always been a great singer song writer."
"Usually I'm skeptical of live greatest hits albums, but Boz Scaggs Greatest Hits Live offers an intriguing look at the career of a successful artist who gained a larger audience by altering his approach without losing his integrity."
"outstanding cd came on time and also played great."
"Although I am a real fan and may be biased, I truly believe this is his best CD, not only because he's in such good voice, but because the band that backs him is unbelievable."
"If you love Boz Scaggs like I do, this is a must for your collection."
"My only hesitation is that I realize I enjoy the polished rich sounds coming from studio musicans, and not the improvised singing (from the back up singers) or sounds of the audience in the background."
